I have just chatted to an Apple adviser on the Apple Store website about expected delivery times. I quoted my post code and they said they would expect to be able to deliver to me tomorrow if I placed an order today :D

I was just wondering if anyone has recently experienced such speedy delivery times for this? I'm in the UK if that helps.

When I have purchased macs from them in the past it has always been at least a week (although this is usually after placing the orders soon after a refresh) after being shipped from China usually (I think). I did query this and the adviser said that they ship from various hubs.

Anyway its really encouraging if that is the case - I am just trying to anticipate its arrival so somebody can be in to sign for it!

Yes, I ordered one from the UK online store and got it next day.

Is this screen the same resolution as the 2010 27" iMacs were? It looks sharper to me but I'm not sure if that's just because I've been a few months working on a non-Apple screen or if its something to do with Lion compared to Snow Leopard.

Screen looks good to me with whites and I'm not going to do the yellow tinge test because I've been there in the past and know that once you start to look for a fault it can lead to very obsessive behaviour.

I just got a cheque from my mother as a belated birthday present - I was seriously tempted to convert this into a second ATD, however I doubt two would fit into my present desk pace which is a bit of a bummer :(

I Pre-ordered the TB Display from best buy sense Sept 1st and gave up waiting and just went to the Apple store and bought one, Best Buy lags.

Thanks, yeah I ended up canceling best buy as well and ordered through amazon, delivery estimates Oct 4. not too bad and 969 to boot

does anyone know if the thunderbolt cinema display can be used with a PC?
I tested with my own PC and Thunderbolt Display, and nothing happens at all when plugging in the TB cable in one of my graphics card's mini displayport outputs.

I then tested with a mini-DP-to-DVI converter cable, screwing in the DVI connector into my graphics card and plugged the mini-DP connector into the TB passthrough connector on the back of the monitor. Nothing, again. Not even a notice that an incompatible device has been connected.

So one can determine pretty categorically that no (current) PC is compatible. And the same would therefore be true for any pre-2011 Mac (and all Mac Pros.)

Thunderbolt is coming for PCs however, so this will change of course.

Yes, we were aware of the major flaw by the display, unfortunately. I just picked up a 2010 Unibody MacBook for a backup computer/work/experiment computer and I'd love to occasionally plug in the display to it. Maybe someone will come out with a firmware hack to make it work?
