Yeah, that "pending" charge will probably stay on there until they do the real charge at the end of the month.

You forgot he fired up his bittorrent client. Maybe he switched after XP ran a Windows Validation Assistant and wasn't happy with the results.Peace said:This situation is the same as any Windows O/S..with one HUGE exception
Windows XP Pro retail costs $269.99 (Amazon)
XP upgrade cost $189.00 (Amazon)
Tiger 10.4 cost $129.99
Think about it..

And oh, great news of course.
Soon, anyone using a PC can take advantage of the effortlessness of Bonjour for free, too, as Apple will release a Windows version in the first half of 2005.

It supports any 16 meg or above video card. Apple should be more clear, but if you have 16 megs of vid and firewire you're good.tech4all said:On the System Requirements page is say's:
What does that mean? How about people with PowerMacs whom have upgraded their graphics card themselves, is that supported by Tiger?
And I can't seem to find that list of supported graphics cards on Apple's site. Anybody have a link or the list?
EDIT: I should say which graphics card are supported by CoreImage.
SAukland said:Did anyone notice the new Inkwell feature?
I haven't seen it openly reported on, and its not on the main feature list. I only found it on the overview page. And Steve never mentioned it at the Keynote.
It seems pretty significant... as it is a completely new input interface... using pen tablets and having built in OS X support for handwriting recognition...![]()
Orlando Furioso said:I'm not sure when it was first introduced (or supported), but Panther already supports Inkwell. It is pretty cool and sports handwriting recognition, ink pad, gestures, and a word list. Try it out when you get a chance. It can be a lovely vacation (from the mouse) for your hand.

I am rumming both Tiger and Panther on side-by-side computers. Neither has Inkwell installed! Is Inkwell something that only ships with a graphic tablet?
Chilled Eskimo said:Not sure if anyone has noticed this yet but for those who have a copy of Server 10.3 Unlimited there does not appear to be an upgrade path (unless you've taken out maintenance with Apple). In other words you'll have to buy the full product again.
Yes after the 29th. Probably by mid May after they flush out the existing inventory with Panther installed. Existing inventory shipped after April 29th will have Tiger DVDs in the box but the buyer will have to perform the upgrade on the first new Macs shipped with Tiger DVDs in the box.Platform said:How long will it take before 10.4 is pre-loaded on new machines![]()
Will they come after the 29 or![]()

We are probably looking at hardware refreshes across the board, except for PowerBooks, all with Tiger pre-installed by the end of June at the latest and more likely by early June if not end of May. Everything is overdue a refresh already. Waiting for Tiger is likely the reason for the delay.
SadSwitcher said:That is the stupidest thing I have read.
One: Apple rep said "if Tiger is released in two weeks" it's free. Guess he was playing word games. He should have said shipped in two weeks. He also told me it wasn't out and that he didn't think it would be out for some time. Dangerously close to a lie there.
Two: 6 freaking days after I buy something it's outdated. Thanks Apple, great way to encourage switchers.
Three: The BBB (an independent third party) thought it was a rip-off and accpeted my complaint against Apple and the local Mac store. Nothing will come of it, but it's the thought that counts.
Did I get ripped? Damn right I did and only an Apple fanboy would deny it.

It's the same in Ireland. 137USD(105Euro) before VAT, 166USD(129Euro) after VAT.iScream said:I like most, am looking forward to Tiger. However, I am getting really pissed off at the pricing that Apple uses in the UK. Tiger in US (inc shipping) = $129 (£68.18) so why does it cost £89, ($168) here?
It's the same for iTunes downloads, and the rest of Apple hardware/software.
I really wish that they would "Think Different".
Note to Apple - stop screwing UK users.
