Chinese Propaganda at it's best. There are literally hundreds of social media videos out there from people who are both living in China and have recently lived in China for many years making videos on what China is actually like from those who are and have experienced it for real and it is nowhere close to what you say. China is not an atractive place to live and neither is it safe.

If the Tik Tok ban is only regional then watch an increase in people using stolen user data to make accounts that allow them to bypass a regional ban.

Oh boy...I recently found out about this guy, he used to live in China for many years. He exposes that totalitarian state from the inside out.

Only now am I able to truly talk about all the things I saw, filmed and experienced in China. Having moved out of the country I now have the freedom to speak unreservedly and I would like to first let you all know why it is that I left China, a country that I loved in the first place.

The CCP has successfully fooled its own citizens (and some naive foreigners) into thinking China is the safest place in the world

I've seen a number of his video's. He's originally from South Africa and moved to China to teach English. He lived in China for 14 years and left due to an increase threat towards foreigners living in China. You will see in his videos that he does not have a problem with the Chinese people themselves, he says the majority he has met are very friendly, his issue is with the CCP and how much they are ingrained into Chinese peoples lives.

His videos are a real eye opener into life in China and what actually goes on in China verus what the CCP release to the rest of the world of how they want people to see China and they are both totally different.

This is why when people say China is a forward thinking progressing country that is safe to live in, I know they are talking BS.

Yeah, the people are never the problem, it is the CCP that we are exposing. What makes me angry is that all these tech media giants, NBA stars and the likes of Tim Cook they don't criticize at all the CCP and act like there's nothing to see there. And by doing that, they actually don't help the Chinese people who want to be free from oppression.

And that is why many people dispise Tim Cook and Apple because they are happy to allow a country to exploit their own citizens, is a country that has one of the worst human rights records in the world all so he can become a millionaire and the company he runs become a trillionaire worth company.

As if one single person's opinions are to be considered the truth…

The vast majority of Chinese going abroad for studying or working sooner or later return home, because they feel safer in China than in the US or Europe. They tend to appreciate western freedoms, but are at the same time subjected to racism. They also appreciate the elements from their own culture that are missing in the West, and they realize that China will never be like the West or vice versa. If the China bashing propaganda were true, all of them would stay in Europe and the US, and yet they don't. So argument is invalid.

The more aggressive stance toward foriegners in China is real, though, and it stems from the increased polarization and the foreign aggression against China.

By whose standards? By what measures? According to whom?

Are you talking about “extraordinary rendition”, waterboarding, torture and other measures at Guantanamo and other detention camps, or are you hallucinating about “millions” (in reality thousands) of Uyghurs in reeducation camps?

Some often neglected parameters in this discourse:

Incarceration rate per 100 000 people:
China: 118
USA: 737

Homicide rate per 100 000 people:
China: 0.53
USA: 4.96

Unemployment rate:
China: 5.7 %
USA: 10.0 %

Suicide rate per 100 000 people:
China: 8.0
USA: 13.7

Corona death rate per 100 000 people
China: 0.3
USA: 50.2

a country that has one of the worst human rights records in the world

And who issues those figures for China..departments within the CCP!!!. China will never ever produce true and accurate figures because losing face is a huge huge issue with the CCP and if it was seen that China had figures worse than other countries, the CCP would lose face. You will never ever convience me of how good China is because the evidence against them is just overwhelming so I would suggest you stop with the China praising.

And more Americans killed by guns every two years than during the whole Vietnam war.

About 6 years ago, as the Obama administration was coming to and end and it was clear the direction the US was headed, I did what any rational person would do - and started learning Chinese. It's not as difficult as you might think, once you can understand the four tones.

I strongly suspect that the next boot that leaves a print on the Moon will have "Made in PRC" on the sole.

As a side note - I have lived in the two top economies in Europe, and now live in an ex-Communist state. I have never had the desire to visit or live in the US - mostly from working with lots of Americans. They despaired of what was happening to their homeland and most left as soon as they could, most coming to Europe.

I am from Mediterranean actually. But I know Europe very well and the politics behind it. The USA is only failing because of the socialist infiltration for decades now and thanks to people like you that are voting for progressives and globalists they are responsible for the decline of this once great nation. If this type of infiltration had never happened, this country would be the best place on earth as it was before. And just FYI, I will trade all the comforts and the "social nets" that Europe is providing for the right of self protection by owning and carrying firearm lawfully. For that right and only, the USA holds the title of the best country in the world.

What a load. The US, capitalism prime, is mainly responsible for the rise of China as they were happy to move all production there. Capitalist greed brought up China, an irony to our history books for years to come.

Socialist infiltration? Let me get my tin foil hat out for that nonsense.

So in summary: the Chinese act racist because they feel others do too. What a great justification for anything really. They felt the Nazis had a good idea with the camps, let’s do that too.

Progress is often achieved by doing something better, not the other way round.

The fact that this very international site has nobody brave enough to claim they’re located right in China is a good indicator on how accurate any reports are from developing countries without free speech and religious freedom.

Yup, he follows Steve Jobs path precisely.

This is an American site using English only, and it is pretty irrelevant to any of the 93% in the world who do not speak the language. It is “international” only in the sense that a few of us Europeans hang around here together with people from the Anglosphere.

Most people in China (being a newly industrialized nation as per IMF definition) prefer their own sites and forums in their own language. That said, I am sure you will find a sizable Chinese diaspora even here, although they may not be that interested in getting involved in these silly discussions.

Right. So Tiktok is doing it better, and for that they must be punished. China is doing it better, and America can't stand it, fearing they will lose out.

Mr. Corona President, meanwhile, is playing his golf, dreaming of being carved into Mt. Rushmore with the great giants. Now that is what I call doing stuff better! That is progress, folks!

166 813 dead and counting. That's 1/3 the US WWII toll in just 1/3 of a year.

Progress is often achieved by doing something better, not the other way round.

Regardless on how anyone feels about Chinese sources/hosted apps, no one should be in favor of such unilateral action that can have devastating economic implications.

Trump would be wise to follow Roosevelt’s famous adage when it came to foreign policy: “Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far”.

Crime statistics in China are heavily suppressed and manipulated. I worked in Beijing for 5 years and there were murders including many murders of foreigners that were not investigated by the police nor generally known to the public. The COVID death numbers are heavily manipulated as well but that's a different story.

However, for the world, you must also include those that speak English as a second language. When you do that you find that:

English: 1st Language: 367.9m 2nd Language: 898.4m Total: 1.268 billion
Mandarin Chinese: 1st Language: 921.5m 2nd Language: 198.7m Total: 1.120 billion
(includes standard Chinese)

Followed by Hindi, Spanish, French and Arabic.

Source: Ethnologue (2019)

There could be as many as 2 billion English speakers.

Poor excuses. Not one notion from the Chinese Orwellian surveillance state. Telling. Might be somehow related to the strictly regulated web that is in place.

English is spoken by hundreds of millions of people natively plus even more foreign speakers so there goes your 93% figure out the window.

There is the traditional national capitalism that is based on values and ethics to uplift the lives of the local populations and then there is "crony capitalism" or "global capitalism" that doesn't have any morals or ethics and it is not concerned with the quality of lives of people. You can't tell me the average middle-class american of the south and the midwest is this greedy, money hungry individual who would sell his soul and his country to get rich. No, the likes of Tim Cook and Zuckerberg are completely devoid of morals and ethics as far as capitalism goes, compared to your average hard working American businessman.

Ah the tale of good and bad capitalism. One comes from the other in a process of growth and ever further expansion. Small companies grow into big corporations. Tim Cook has the same morals as Steve Jobs and any other CEO of the past few decades who decided to produce in China.

We can’t just have small businesses, over time they transform into bigger entities that at some stage create exactly these issues.

It's not a tale. It's a reality. Tim Cook and Steve Jobs or any other CEO that decides to outsource their products, obviously do it because at their heart, they have no morals or ideals. They are poster boys of globalism and liberal politics. You won't find a small business that over time transforms into bigger entities that will sell its soul for profit, IF the CEO and the leadership are patriots and put family, God and country above profit. Apple just happens to consist of a homogenous leadership that doesn't believe in traditional values and will just do anything to maximize their profits while pretending that they are "humanitarians" and activists just to score points.

Ah and now we drift off from socialist interefences that you claimed straight to the liberals. Last I checked both parties were at power in the last few decades of China’s rise.

Again it’s easy to colour any shareholder based company as having no morals or ideals that don’t match your own. I’ll tell you what happened afterwards: you and everyone else had a tendency to not care and let the very companies that you conveniently criticise now rise. These folks never moved production but chose China due to its production capabilities which most other countries don’t offer.
China’s stance on human rights, freedom of expression and religion are well known not just since today. Nobody cared enough. All your American businesses with their oh so high held values were first in line to purchase Chinese made products.
The companies that produce there didn’t start as megacompanies but started out small and grew, an inherent feature of the capitalism drive to success.

It will be interesting to see how you want to regulate the free market to stop these kind of scenarios from happening in the future. Because humanity until now wasn’t remotely interested in morals when it came to money and electronics. Maybe we will all buy our iPhone competitors from the little garage company around the corner but I strongly doubt it.
