He's always been a closed book, but he used to have energy to sort of fake enthusiasm during small talk. But now he seems exhausted and like he's lost a step.

When he was asked what he liked the most to say, "All of it." And then "You can do Genmojis, you can do Image Playgrounds." (PLURAL)

It sounds like someone doing a book report who didn't read the book. Or the way older people say things like "My Google is broken."

The laundry list is like a mattress salesman saying, "The bed's great. It's got springs. It's got fabric. It's got batting."

Except, most don't even know what Image Playgrounds [sic] is, so it's even worse than a laundry list.

It didn't even seem like he was thinking. He used to be, while extremely boring, even somewhat piercing in his ability to carefully answer while not saying much of anything.

Now he just seems sloppy and tired.

I noticed the same thing in an MKBHD interview he did a while back. He didn't seem deft and prepared to navigate the questions.
What's batting? I don't think we have that

iTunes was king (windows and Mac) and then Spotify took over. Apple bought beats to compete in the streaming market.

Final Cut Pro was the default standard for many professional studios. But apples Mac Pro didn’t got an upgrade for too long and the trash can was a total failure even Apple admitted. Final Cut Pro also got a rewrite and couldn’t import the older files anymore. Most video/movie producers ran to Adobe and HP. Another area Apple failed.

Apple also had a good foothold in the classroom. Most students or schools worked with Macs, iPads. I believe google with their Chromebook’s kicked Apple out in middleschool and lack of new iMacs/mac pro kicked Apple out of high schools/universities (not all, but a lot).

Apple’s out of the server market.

Apple’s out of monitors (except studio display). Bad marketing for Apple when you have a Mac mini hidden onder your desk and only see a big Samsung or LG.

Apple is out their router business. No new airports or whatever.

The few things Apple is concentrating on are the same things year after year after year with very incremental changes. iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac.

So yes… Apple lost a lot of areas where they used to be king. And to be honest… iPhone is following the same path.

I wouldn't say Apple was ever "king" in most of those areas and where Apple may have been king, the overall market has moved on due to changing tastes/tech. Apple seems to remain about as strong as they've ever been in many relevant key areas today.

The key areas like mobile phones you mean? They will make a well deserved nosedive with the iPhone 16. Mark my words.

In a lighthearted walk-and-talk around New York City, The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon caught up with Apple CEO Tim Cook on Friday to chat about the new iPhone 16 and Cook's love for the iconic Fifth Avenue Apple Store. Fallon – wearing Apple Vision Pro – met Cook with mock disbelief while picking up his new iPhone, with Cook personally handing him the device.

As they strolled to Apple's Upper East Side store, Cook explained that he tries to visit the Fifth Avenue location during every major launch. Fallon joked about Cook's rockstar-like reception from fans, but Cook humbly attributed it to people's love for Apple.

The two discussed Cook's 27-year journey at Apple, during which Cook admitted he never expected to become CEO. On the tech front, Cook expressed excitement about Apple Intelligence, which is set to begin rolling out next month. Cook talked up upcoming features like automatic email summarization and fun new creative tools such as Genmoji and Image Playground.

The chat ended on a playful note, with Fallon showing off his "psychic" skills by guessing Cook's mustard preference on hot dogs, before gifting him some New York-themed swag — though not all of it made the cut for Cook's local look. You can watch the five-minute walk-and-talk in the video embedded above.

This should be Greg Gutfeld not Jimmy Fallon he has much better ratings for late night TV. Fallon is in a free fall and Gutfeld is the new king of late night. This could have been much better.

And lets Not Forget out of Professional Photographer Software with no more Aperture! Right around the time the iPad Pro was introduced and in two week Adobe had a mobile Vs of Photoshop for iPad when there should have been a Mobile Vs. of Aperture!! ( I once even got Technical help on Aperture after writing TC after every other Ave. had failed!!)

I was sort of reaching for a word to make a list. I think batting is just any material that's used to fill things like pillows, etc, so in the context of a mattress, I think it would be whatever fluffy material (probably polyester) is used to make a pillow top. I was reaching to think what the components of a mattress are to make an analogy, but I'm no mattress expert.

Compare Jimmy Fallon with his fake laugh to Graham Norton, where the guests feel comfortable and have fun. Or with Craig Ferguson on how funny he is flirting with guests.

I know they're there to make money but American hosts became pure propagandists. Just like Hollywood movies; it's not to entertain, but to send a "message", to "educate".
Colbert is one of the worst for it. As soon as it dawned on me, I couldn’t stand him anymore.

I like a bit of Jon Stewart still but as a Brit, Conan O’Brien is the goat.

I'm old enough to know this has existed for decades. They weren't called influencers back then, but there was no shortage of fawning journalists and publications that spoke no ill of Apple.

Perhaps the cult attitude feels amplified given the reach of social media.

Apple PR knows how the game is played and are reaching out to younger influencers too. And to be fair, these influencers are simply following the money. Positive review = Access to Apple events = more views = more $$.

I'll watch a few videos and then be done with it. Many will have some lame provoking thumbnail to clickbait you, but it's usually a just their opinion which I don't need to hear.
Yup. Leaving out AntennaGate, “mainstream” reviews for Apple products have been nothing but fluff pieces since the CRT iMac. After iPod Gen3 & iPod Mini is when it started getting bad.

It is not a secret that all is fake, but they could at least pretend to be genuine and the producers could try to script a natural conversation.Obviously, Tim is not an actor but Jimmy is, but their performance seems to be on the same level. Artificial and lame. The post-production is also bad. The video that is coming from the iPhone is super shaky and low quality.

I'm curious to know who paid whom. Apple to Jimmy for advertising the new iPhone or Jimmy to Apple to have some new material for the show.
Obviously apple payed the company who owns the Jimmy brand. You can’t book Tim, he’s a ceo.

You'd think the CEO of Apple would probably NOT want Fallon to treat the Apple Vision Pro like it's a blindfold - do either of them know it has pass-thru video?
Fallon thought he was seeing Tim Apple in AR – that was the whole semi-joke of the skit. 🙄

It’s mind-blowing to think that Tim might retire after the 20th anniversary of the iPhone and the second AVP. He’s been with the company for an incredible 27 years. Will he make it to 30 or even 35 years before he decides to step down?
Shame he got to CEO though.

Alright, you can burn me for not reading the article and not even knowing what is it about…

But god almighty does it rile me up YET ANOTHER instance where this CEO is riding high on some celebrity fame train. Or another politician prepared event spotlight or similar.

What’s up with that? No for real, who approves of this? One news is about bricking iPads and HomePods, the next is the CEO again clowning around in some backstage jet set.
I guess himself approves, duh.

It looks so out of place, fake, cringe. Plus I can’t relate to these private plane flyers mainstream celebrities like Taylor Swift et al, so double dip on that cringe sauce for me personally.

/rant over.

Yeah exactly! Copy your last, Like wow The 17Yr olds with unlimited budgets but somehow need more than one of everything (Looking at you iJustine who somehow got not one but two 32" Displays....) Ugh....

Remember when Steve would do a Keynote? there would a general update, some announcements minor products and then BOOM One more Thing Steve would unveil some Magic
🎉
fully formed Designed ready to Power on and Ship! Coming to a Store near you! None of the well here it is but half The Features are missing but we will update soon if we dont brick it first! And yeah like you slurped all the Kool Aid Decades ago...As me types on me trusty
🗑
Can.
And funny enough, Apple is the only company that can get away with it. If this was HP, Lenovo, etc. and they announced half a feature set, sales would plummet because journalists and YouTubers/reviewers would be like “they announced it too early”. But somehow Apple can make it work.

Because Apple is the only company that, like the fashion designers, has used its brand to create a bunch of idiotic fans who justify everything Apple does and buy its products regardless.
