I've got a gold iPhone 6P (Plus not Pee) and love the color of it. Well I didn't really have a choice since that was the only one they had in stock at launch. Anyways it's almost more of a dull bronze to me and doesn't look like gold till next to a silver iPhone

I hope he's not talking about the tastes of the workers who make those iDevices, seeing as they need to work a loooong time to buy one of them.

Chinese taste for gold colours is hideous and gaudy...

Colour options are fine. Gold is fine (just not my taste).

The part that makes me sad is the broader implication that apple has shifted away from being a taste-maker and is mostly about focus groups and market research these days. It's fine and dandy for bottom line fiscal success, but I miss sensing the "vision" behind apple products.

There is nothing "premium" about a Gold Apple Watch. Apple is not setting any new standards in luxury among the uber rich with their $10,000+ "timepieces". I would imagine that most 1%ers look at the Apple Watch like they would look at a gold plated Casio or Timex, as a joke, while they walk up to their watch display cases and pick from dozens of high quality timepieces from Omega or Rolex, or more likely, those designed by luxury Swiss watchmakers you never heard of.

The Gold Apple watch are for douchey insecure hipsters that must be socially judged by others based on purchasing overt status symbols bought on credit they can't actually afford. Anyone with real money and taste is laughing at Apple and at most might buy any Apple watch so they can work out in a gym or go for a swim and don't want to ruin their real luxury watches.

I do like the look of the gold iPhone. In fact, I had convinced myself that I'd buy a gold iPhone 6 Plus last year. When I got to the store, though, I just couldn't lose the all black (when the screen is off) front.

Man that title was hard to decipher. I had to read it about 7 times.

I would never get gold anything. But secretly I think the gold rMB looks ok.

Most of the women in our office go for the gold phones, but aren't Chinese.

Personally I don't like the gold colour on anything they've done so far, but options are good. If people like it then good luck to them, just so long as it's an option and not the only colour(/material in the case of the Watch) a product is available in I don't have a problem with it.

Wait. What is this nonsense about you not liking something and then not forcing your subjective view of onto others? Am I still on MacRumors?

some of the answers here are too funny

lack of taste is just the same as a lack of competence to comprehend another context/culture/state of mind

I love driving black cars here in the north, but when I go to Italy or Spain, I love those bright coloured cars. Because they fit the context, the bright sun, the people...If I see them here in the North of Europe I used to find them 'tasteless'.

Don't judge from your own point of view, or your own stereotypes, that's easy. And watch out you'll become a stereotype yourself very quickly. American matrix dude with everything in black...
