I was going to bid, but I thought it might be better to have a house, than a cup of coffee.

If I had to guess, this newcomer was probably some script kiddy with lots of money. I home Tim bring security.

Exactly what I was thinking. Though with it being Apple, and taking place at Apple HQ, they probably have TSA level screenings anyway.

My bid got rejected. Oh well, I'll just grab the few bucks in my bank to buy my own coffee and chat with Tim when I see him inside campus.

Nice chunk of cash for charity! Hopefully he does it again sometime.

Exactly. While this may be an exorbitant amount of money for most of us, at least it's going to a good cause.

I wonder what a bid with Steve Jobs would have garnered. Regardless of his legacy, I cannot imagine working as hard as he did while struggling with the most severe form of cancer. His job was truly his passion.

You're missing the point.

The news here is that exposure to Tim is valued that highly, which says something for the company. Despite having a higher market cap, do you think someone would care that much about meeting the CEO of Exxon?

When you're a small company that's selling something that might be useful in the Oil industry, yes, you probably would care that much.

Apple sells smartphones, mp3 players and a fistful of computers. In the grand scheme of things, that's about as important as certain companies that sell soft drinks. Obviously, a lot of money can be made with these things, but there's a huge world behind that small horizon.

So based on this, and the average life expectancy of 75 (google) Tim is "worth" around $40 Billion... Obviously there are a tonne of other factors to consider too.

Just interesting, based on how much somebody is willing to pay for one hour.

All human beings are priceless, this is not a means of putting a price on them, please do not take it that way! Don't start an argument about political correctness either, this is just simple math based on the price somebody is willing to pay per hour.

Guys, it's at Apple's HQ. Coffee is on the house there anyway. No one will be paying for it on the spot.

Unless of course you take the stance that "technically Tim is paying for it with company funds"

If you were a billionaire, you wouldn't need to.

But, if you wanted publicity, or actually cared about the charity that will be supported, you just might.

If, however, you were the head of some sort of startup that needed exposure, this might be a great chance.

How much coffee?

iHOP places a full pot of coffee on the table. I wonder if waitress is entitled to 18% of the bid.

Reminder to winning bidder: silence your iPhone during the chat.

I'm so sick of reading about this. Who cares? Tim isn't going to reveal anything interesting and we will probably never know what it is if he does.

Then why did you bother to even comment? Nobody cares if you don't care. I don't care that you don't care, but I'm curious why you waste your time posting on a topic you don't care about.
