Should have been with GizmodoWhat a waste to talk with Justine. Tim should have spent time with Anandtech or Geekerwan.
Not really; its pretty common for event-oriented interviews like this for the interviewer to come in with a set of questions to expand the topic (e.g. WWDC announcements) and the interviewee to come in with talking points which they are rehearsed on and can fall back on (and naturally gravitate toward as result).Marques actually asked good questions. I’m a bit disappointed he let Tim off the hook about playing the ranking game properly. For the iPhone, it was funny that Tim mostly talked about the App Store and how it created an economic miracle “for people” 😏.
He dropped it much too quickly for my taste, making virtually no attempt at holding Tim to the rules of an actually quite interesting game. He wouldn’t have been any less pro for putting Tim on the spot a bit.Marques is a pro. He got the sense (correctly) that there was no way on Earth TC was going to blindly rank Apple products and so dropped it smoothly.
Tim struggled and evaded enough, and for example didn’t know what the blind ranking game was, that it didn’t feel like the precise questions were pre-submitted. And if they were, Tim’s answers were still revealing enough. Not really; its pretty common for event-oriented interviews like this for the interviewer to come in with a set of questions to expand the topic (e.g. WWDC announcements) and the interviewee to come in with talking points which they are rehearsed on and can fall back on (and naturally gravitate toward as result).
MKBHD's YouTube channel currently has 19M subscribers, close to the number on Apple's channel. Him bashing the humane pin caused about a week of controversy about the role of reviewers with his level of influence. He was compared quite a bit to Walt Mossberg in that context. In all seriousness, who are these people? I only recognize Tim Cook.
I don't know, this was pretty good. 😅😂This is all nice in principle… but he should be talking to others in the industry. I have nothing against the people he gave interviews to, but there are some heavyweights out there that would ask the tough questions and I’m sure if prepped well, Tim could answer those questions well. That would be far more impressive and useful.
I don’t know, I like some of these people’s videos but they go far far too easy on Apple. And I’m sure we all know why that is… and here we are.
Sometimes interviewees will ask for the questions up front - I think Apple instead picks an area they aren't going to talk about (e.g. future products) and will fall back to a canned response if you ask there. It’s not surprising that Tim leans to the same statements he rehearsed about the current topics of interest. That doesn’t mean that he new the exact set of questions.
Of course. You can be tough without being a dick. The hard questioning should be relevant to the topics at hand. Not necessarily true, there's a difference between asking less softball questions, and being a jackass by going outside the topic and stated boundaries (like asking questions on whether Apple's policy of having manufacturing in China is encouraging the regime to further promote concentration camps and effectively slave labor for a discriminated population ... in a five minute interview about announcements at a developer conference).
I don't want to hear anymore hate for Justine for this particular interview -They were all equally awkward, rehearsed, and pointless beyond creating even more promotional content for Apple Intelligence, iOS 18 and everything surrounding WWDC.What a waste to talk with Justine. Tim should have spent time with Anandtech or Geekerwan.
I don't mind Marques and enjoy watching his channel. He has a unique charm and uses his position to do give some honest takes on tech every now and then.I see a lot of hate for iJustine here and I get it. But I don't understand why people think MKBHD has anything worthwhile to say either. I know I'm in the minority saying that, but the dude is, aside from his production skills, mediocre at best.
I used to enjoy interviews with apple executives (10+ years ago), but from a certain point you start realising it's just a regurgitation of their ad campaign. meaningless and no charisma.

iJustine has 7 million followers on Youtube alone. Anand has... 23k?
What a tool. Thank God for EU forcing Apple to finally adopt USB-C for iPhones.… disdain from Greg Joswiak about Apple being forced to adopt USB-C.
Now you know that this isn't about "serious journalism."
Dont be stupid.... A Chips draw 7.5 Watt , M Series take 15 Watt.... so it is bad idea to put an M Chip inside an iPhoneDid He almost Screw up will the next Iphone have a M chip in it
