So if customers don't want it then why did you release a big laptop size iPad with a pencil mouse.
If his sales numbers keep increasing yearly why should he care about changing his strategy for future products. There's obviously a huge disconnect between Tim Cook and his customers. He either needs new advisors that can read public forums, or maybe he should fire up Macrumors.com on his new iPad Pro and do some light reading.
People don't like change. It is why folks in here are arguing that Apple shouldn't go the same route. When Apple does (because it is likely they will) it will be done in a way that folks will be happier with (generally speaking).Windows 10 got better by undoing a lot of Windows 8. Surface Pro and Surface Book are trending back towards a traditional laptop.
I will give you that. Me I am doing some complex work on the laptop, Surface Pro, then I get tired of work, move to couch for entertainment. Guess what, I use the same device to play games, watch a movie, control my entertainment, read a book, chat on social media, or whatever without changing my system. You, most likely will need to go get an iPad or squint at the phone to do the same. Understand my point? And plenty of us don't care about this feature too.
Maybe I'm the minority, but I do think what you do on a PC or Laptop is not something you'd do on a touch based tablet.... as well, the tablet is made for consumption with some authoring.
Let me put it this way... if my MacBook Pro screen could just come off and I could move to the couch and continue to work... I wouldn't. Nothing I do on my MacBook would I want to do on a Tablet.
What extra x86 power?Apple isn't afraid to cut off older software, but I doubt they would want a split line where some Macs are running on one architecture and others on another. For example, would Microsoft write two versions of Office for OS X, or would they write for ARM, in which case the more powerful Macs would not be able to take advantage of the extra power of x86?
Why would anyone buy a PC? Well I bought a PC because my macbook pro died. Turns out OSX runs much better on a pc than it does on a mac, while providing thousands of dollars in savings (something apple customers care little about).
You're right plenty of "US" on MR want that. The other 99% of the world isn't thinking the same way and I wish MR members would stop thinking they were Apple's only customers. While I wouldn't mind seeing an "Mac OS X-based iPad" I can see where the honeymoon would wear off soon around here and people would be saying, "Mac-based iPad is here....Now what is Apple gonna do next to please us?"Complete BS. Plenty of us want that.
Cook is right.
I know I'm probably the only one but I trust Tim's opinion. As long as they keep innovating and updating Mac's that is...![]()
?Nobody can do larger phone, tablet, multitasking and stylus magical innovations like Apple.
If his sales numbers keep increasing yearly why should he care about changing his strategy for future products.
Complete BS. Plenty of us want that.
You have to realize that Surface is just one vendor in the hybrid 2-1 market. These devices are booming and hurting iPad sales. No, not even close. Keep in mind that even in an overall market of declining tablet sales, Apple sells more iPads in a single quarter than the total number of Surface Pros sold by Microsoft since launch a few years ago. In addition, sales of Apple laptops have been doing relatively well compared to the overall market.
You ever heard of a crossover or CUV/SUV? They are selling very well. Not everyone wants to buy a car and a truck. A CUV can do both at half the cost.Agree. an apology to this convergence is a car that can be used as a truck and sedan. this truck-sedan can do it all: big load and light daily commute. what gives? well, gas, big, heavy, and not as agile.
Not fully understand what is under the hood, consumers oversimplify the concept of combining osX and iOS. one to rule them all. but life is not perfect, and something has to give. you can't be both mobile/agile yet powerful. that is why we have a big truck for heavy load and car for daily commute. you can see people drive pick-up truck for daily commute but there are only small number of them.
No matter how good a laptop is, it can't replace my desktop for serious work. and my desktop can't replace my laptop for traveling. each device has its own advantages. you can combine them into one but it will lose those advantages.
Microsoft Surface is attractive to tech and spec-love people, but it will never be popular among casual users.
um... noComplete BS. Plenty of us want that.
