People buy products that work well for them. Apple has the highest customer satisfaction scores around. What is such a mystery?

No.

They buy into Apple now because they've invested a lot into it. Hard to pull out now after all these years. Apple's got everyone by their balls.

This is what drives Apple users nuts. Apple does some incredible engineering with this iOS lineup and even their Macbooks are still pretty well engineered despite flaws. The easiest thing from an R&D perspective would be their lineup on desktops and it's gets such little attention especially for a trillion dollar company. It sounds like they are slowly turning this around and will put more focus but seriously....4 years and no Mac Mini update? Not to mention Apple doesn't even have a proper standalone desktop option(Mac Pro is a workstation and 5 years old).

I would say the great majority of people do not give a damn. Most people are not "invested" in Apple. People outside of this echo chamber do not care about the ecosystem. If the products did not work for them they would look elsewhere. The average person is not deeply invested in Apple. If your logic was correct they would not have high customer satisfaction scores.

While admittedly the lack of a mac mini and mac pro update is puzzling they do have a standalone desktop option in the iMac...

does it mean you can lower the price of your hardware?
I think it implies the opposite. Since Apple is doing well, they need an even higher revenue, a surprisingly high actually, to once more exceed expectations and thus raise their stock value further.

HAUAHUUHAUHA True costumers? I'm very happy with every decision Apple is making.

You speak for yourself. And apparently the numbers also destroy you theory.

A very small number of sad people complain about every single thing Apple makes. The majority off costumers are happy.

93% costumer satisfaction. The highest in the industry.
Although I did struggle to understand your spelling - I got there in the end. So I will attempt to reply to your condescending comment.

Likewise, just because you are happy with Apples decisions, doesn't mean to majority do.
93% Satisfaction.. which includes mums, students, and all kinds of users, like my 8 year old cousin. She's happy with her angry birds - so; so are her parents.

I was talking about professionals and legacy Apple users. And no, I'm not alone. Scour these forums for feedback and discussions regarding Apples decisions (it's the search feature in the top right of the webpage).

To shut down my perspective is to shut down half of MacRumors. That something you can do successfully with your sassiness boo?

Indeed, I agree. For example, many people stay with one cable company for TV or Internet because they have no other options. I doubt you'll find any cable company that has a high satisfaction rating, though. The vast majority of the population sees technology as a tool to accomplish a task. They don't care or necessarily even know whether the tool is cutting edge or not, just that it doesn't hassle them on a daily basis. If Apple products do that for them, and particularly if they work much better than the alternatives, they're happy. That's what we're seeing in the data, and that's what Apple has been about for many years.

I think everyone is forgetting that Steve said he had concept/products in the pipeline for the next 10 years; it has not been 10 years since his passing. And for all we know, all of that stuff could have been shelved.

I am also wholly unimpressed with the current lineup of Mac hardware. New MacBook Pros are ok, they would have been even better had Apple included the latest nVidia kit instead of AMD, but power, yeah yeah whatever. iMac Pro has a decent spec, but can't be upgraded and you are basically tossing a kick ass monitor away when you get something new.

This is a pipe dream, but it would be an interesting test for Apple to sell a tower computer "DIY" that only had the Case, Motherboard and whatever "other" electronics such as the T2 chip, plus a USB installer stick; with the rest being able to be purchased as the user sees fit from wherever. Maybe sell one with a LG1151 and another with the LG2066. What a pipe dream; but even at a $1000 (almost double the cost of current case + MB), I would bet they would sell like hotcakes.

They may not be deeply invested in a particular company, but the average consumer hates change and doesn't want to learn new things. Switching from iPhone to Android or Mac to Windows (or vice versa) is unpleasant at best.

I think Apple has had some real quality issues with their most recent OSes. There's plenty of legitimate criticism of its products, services, and leadership.

What really helps Apple, though, is that the competition is a hundred times worse. (I use Windows for gaming and Android once in a blue moon for development and I immediately remember why I use Apple products now.) I think we're all just afraid of Apple slipping to their level, because then we're really screwed!

Nope, it wont sell like hitcakes. BFUs want mac and want it as cheap as possible, thats why macbook air is best selling mac... and BFUs creates market

That is literally the antithesis of Apple's existence. Apple's whole reason for being is to make products that delight people. Buying a 4 year old machine, designed without any thought to it's upgradeability, at the same price it was 4 years ago, then spending yet more money, plus your valuable spare time to upgrade it, is an entirely un-delightful experience for the vast majority of people.

It seems to me that every Mac Mini user out there is also a Macrumors forum member.

Why did you choose a Mac that does not fit in Steve Jobs quadrant and why do you want the Mac that is supposed to be the weakest and least capable of all the Macs?

It was created to entice people to switch from Windows. If you already are a Mac user you should upgrade to a more expensive Mac.

Very true that people dont like change, but if things were as grim as some make them out to be the customer satisfaction scores wouldn't be nearly as high as they are.

[QUOTE="bluecoast, post: 26315446, member: 1104712"I can understand that - but what I find egregious is still selling the Mac mini online even if you know it’s way way out of date. Ditto the Air. I wouldn’t have minded if they made it Apple store retail only so at least people buying one can be made fully aware of what they’re getting.[/QUOTE]

They do it because customers are buying them. If customers stop buying them, Apple will cancel the Mac Mini and the MacBook Air.

All the normal specification are on the web and customers who are interested in them can review them before buying.

While admittedly the lack of a mac mini and mac pro update is puzzling they do have a standalone desktop option in the iMac...

Well I did specify "proper standalone desktop option"..... iMac is an all-in-one unit. Mac Mini is a low end laptop grade desktop and Mac Pro is an ancient workstation grade computer(Xeons and ECC memory).

LOLLLLLLLLL. what a load of crap.

Theres been almost no innovation and the true customers are all pissed off. What is he even talking about?

INB4 "TouchBar" was innovative. the TouchBar is not innovation - it's a gimmick.

Next pls

You mean the 200+ million true customers who repeatedly open their wallets to purchase outstanding Apple products, year after year after year? Or the few on tech forums with tiny whines?

I just think morally they shouldn't be selling outdated tech when they're worth this much.

That seems a bit harsh. It's not like they're misrepresenting what they sell. They plainly describe all the key components in their product listings. I'd say it's even a stretch to call technology that's readily available and still functional "outdated" -- maybe not cutting edge, but that's not the same thing. Really, who needs the fastest processors to read may, browse the web or watch TV? Walk through any department store and you'll see all kinds of technology that isn't cutting edge but works and sells just fine.

They got this large by selling products that people buy. Many on this forum don't want to admit it because they want something else that no one makes for them, but that's not Apple's responsibility. It's ok to want more, but no one is obligated to make it for you.

So why have Mac users been screaming out for an update to the Mac mini ?

Because they are headless Mac luddites and they’re stuck between a rock and a hard place. They have trashed Windows, Microsoft and PCs forever. They could easily move to Windows or Linux on standard PC hardware, something they constantly refer to as being superior to Mac hardware in terms of raw specs. So why don’t they? Why do they choose to stay and rant? What’s holding them back? Do they just like to flagellate themselves hoping their tormentor will relent? If anything Apple will be less and less interested in the desktop paradigm and more and more interested targeting the mobile market with tablets and other yet-to-be mobile hardware.

Tim Cook Says Apple's $1 Trillion Value is a 'Significant Milestone' But 'Not the Most Important Measure of Success' in Employee Memo I think your stock holders would tend to disagree with you timmy.

Why are you concerned about the Mac Mini? It is supposed to be the least capable and the worst of all the Macs. It was created just to lure people from Windows.

Almost everything a Mac Mini can do, you can do with a more expensive Mac.

I'd still prefer a 3 year oudated Mac than the competition, thats the problem.

I just think morally they shouldn't be selling outdated tech when they're worth this much.

It's likely because of Mac OS, and I feel the same way about it.

There is nothing wrong with my spelling!

Plus English is just one of three languages I speak, and not my native one.

And, you want it or not, Apples money comes from the moms, students and 8 year olds who play silly games.

You are a very specific 3 % of costumers that are unhappy about what is going on.

And since it's so bad, why still buy Apple products?

Just go for something else! Downers sure won't be missed.
