Hoping this is true. Hard to stop myself from ordering a different set of wireless ear buds.

Does anyone in here stop to think how lame they're going to look?

I wish Sony would tell us the intelligence behind removing the built in VCR from
Their TV's. Oh wait, there isn't any.

apple didnt bring us something better than line in headphones.

Another Apple fail. Anyone else remember the days when Steve used to announce something and you could buy or at least order it when the Apple store came back up after the keynote?

The first iPhone was announced on January 9, 2007 and not available until June 29, 2007.
The first iPad was announced on January 27, 2010 and not available until April 3, 2010 (WiFi) or April 30, 2010 (WiFi and Cellular)
The first iMac was announced on May 6, 1998 and not available until August 15, 1998

It's not unusual for Apple to pre-announce new product lines - it's the existing ones they tend to announce and ship straight away (otherwise they'd butcher sales of the existing version until the new one was available)

The demanding tone of the customer's e-mail was incredibly rude. However valid his frustration, there's no excuse for that.
Totally agree, very surprised he got a response from Tim.

There was another thread on here a few weeks ago where a customer had asked Apple a stupid question and surprisingly got a response, maybe Apple only reply to rude and stupid posts and don't bother with the sensible people with intelligent questions.

Many customers are anxiously anticipating the release of Apple's wireless AirPods, originally slated to launch in October but later delayed. Fortunately, the wait may soon be over.

MacRumors has been forwarded an email in which Apple CEO Tim Cook, responding to a customer, allegedly said he anticipates AirPods to begin shipping "over the next few weeks."MacRumors has verified the email's full headers appear to originate from Apple's corporate servers, while Apple executives are known to respond to customers on occasion, but as a boilerplate disclaimer, it should be noted these emails can of course be faked. Apple did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Apple has so far only said it needed "a little more time" before AirPods are ready for customers, while conflicting rumors have pointed towards release dates between December and January, offering little clarity. AirPods remain listed as both "coming soon" and "currently unavailable" on different sections of Apple's website.

An e-mail? From a customer and no verification from Apple as to it's authenticity and you ran with it? Come now!!

I'm surprised that it's genuine, I didn't believe it was! I have to admit I questioned the poster but it seems I was wrong.
I'm also surprised that the sender got a reply, I sent a more polite question regarding the same question about a week ago and never got a reply.

I find it funny that people claiming that it's necessary to talk to people "way above your pay grade" in this direct manner, they neglect to mention that half of Cook's response is superfluous text.

Most of that is completely unnecessary. So much for being succinct, right?

There is a polite way to quickly and directly address these concerns, and he didn't use it.
No one is claiming "necessary". You added that to support your narrative. You're also conflating an employer/employee relationship with a vendor/customer relationship. They are not, nor have they ever been, an equivalent. I stated earlier I think Cook probably chose that email because it was direct and to the point.

If the customer was actually being rude or even perceived as rude by Cook, I'm pretty sure the email would have been deleted and forgotten.

Exactly. I don't think that Cook cried much about this email; he certainly appreciated it enough to reply and he certainly loved that it didn't make anyone waste their time by a recollection on how "I am a long time customer, since my first Mac in 1984...."

Shaking my damn head at all these people in here who think that was "rude". Give me a break.

If anything it's frustration and that's completely justified given the expectations that Apple themselves set for the customer regarding this product. They dropped the ball big time.

EDIT: I'm eagerly awaiting AirPods release to buy them. I'm just saying it was quite a bit too early for the jack's removal.

I been saying this countless of times. There would never be a right time if someone like Apple doesn't make a move to push the industry. They all will keep producing audio devices with the wired 3.5mm and not focus on what is going to be the future not just for audio but pretty much anything technology related. A day that an iPhone will be just like the apple watch (no holes and wire conectioon) is pretty close and I can't wait for a total wireless experience.

I didn't find the email to have much class. Rude might not be the right term, but I surely would not respond to somebody coming at me with these "demands". If you honor people that approach you in that way, more power to you.

You're not in the condition to initiate a direct conversation with your superiors. You are paid by them and trade your services for the greenbacks. In this case, the customer pays Cook's company.
If your superiors (at CEO/CFO/CIO level) initiate the discussion it's not going to be a "Dear friend Relentless Power, can you please do X Y and Z, we appreciate you? HAve a wonderful day". It's going to be: "RP - We need X Y and Z by EOD." And your reply will be: "Superior - X and Y have been completed. Z is waiting on vendor PO 13831. RP."

I understand the relationship differences between superiors and customers. Nor do I necessarily think this E-mail was "Rude." But it lacks decorum. Which To break it down for you (Not trying to insult you), was distasteful in the least. Perhaps the poster who sent the E-mail didn't view it as "Rude", but fails to see the ignorance through there demeanor exhibited in words, when in reality, perhaps They would have addressed this differently if they had contact with Cook in person. That's why I don't consider this E-mail rude, as it was dry and subjective.

E-mail or not, paying customer or not, there is a certain degree of respect when one naturally addresses someone of a level as Cook is. It's almost as if a reasonable person would do this with out thinking about it, because it's subconscious behavior.

Although, I want a pair of these as well and I do understand the plethora of frustration on these threads.

Well screw you Phil. Who are you to debunk our revisionist history of the greatness of Apple under St. Jobs.:D:p
Seriously, people need to stop "mis-remembering" Apple history.

BT is subpar for now, until BT standards are upgraded. 3.5mm headphone jack is analog sound; phones need to have a DAC (digital to analog converter) to push sound to the headphone jack. This means going backwards, truly digital sound will never become the standard if people like you keep beating a dead horse. Let the headphone jack die, its served humanity its share.
