Apple CEO Tim Cook this morning tweeted a series of images that celebrate the Hindu festival of Holi, which began on March 1 and ended today, March 2.

Cook shared three images from the India-based festival, taken by photographers Prashanth Viswanathan, Amit Mehra, and Ashish Parmar. Cook noted that each image was shot on the iPhone X.

Stunning photos that capture the colorful festival of Holi by @prashvish in Nandgaon, @amitmehraphoto in Vrindavan and @ashishjparmar in Bengaluru, India #ShotoniPhone #iPhoneX pic.twitter.com/ykSNJDGvAl - Tim Cook (@tim_cook) March 2, 2018
Each image depicts people participating in Holi's colorful festivities, which mark the end of winter and beginning of spring. The festival is largely celebrated within India, but events expand beyond India into the United Kingdom, United States, South Africa, and more.

Two of the images use Portrait Lighting on the iPhone X, a feature that provides several unique lighting effects as a way to emphasize part of an image. Both of the pictures from the Holi festivities use the "Stage Light" effect, which spotlights a subject against a dark background.

Check out Cook's tweet to see all of the pictures shared from Holi.

The iPhone X is the best camera I've ever used in low light. I have no android experience however.

Pixel 2 beats it. I've used both and ended up keeping the Pixel. It's even more amazing considering it has one lens compared to the X's two, all thanks to the software. You hear that Apple? It's the software that counts. Something you've been lacking in lately.

I really like that photograph. Actually not cutting on him or being snarky, --but I think this is one of the best photos of Tim Cook I've seen. Even though he's very covered up in pigment, shades, turban, it seems more revealing of Tim himself than all the other rather boring corporate-candid photos we see.
Funny joke. :)

This portrait lighting stage light mode is ridiculous. It simply looks like a heavy-handed vignette executed by a novice photoshopper.

It's a handy instant effect which can be really gratifying, but closer examination of the results (e.g. uneven blurring for the same depth, the halo effect on top of head) can sometimes be really jarring.

Ironically, for these portrait mode shots, the hand example comes off better.

I’m Fairly confident Apple is not hearing you on an opinionated tech forum. But you can direct your thoughts to them about iOS by contacting them directly. That seems more logical. But my experience is opposite of yours, I don’t have any complaints iOS and it’s running completely fine on my iPhone currently. Granted their are complaints, I wouldn’t sacrifice abandoning iOS in place of the iPhones security and five years of updates. Enjoy your Pixel 2, Which is a nice phone.

Now I know what this day that bizarrely shows up on my US calendar is. Maybe this is Cook’s way of legitimizing this bizarre decision to include days that aren’t in fact US holidays.

Came here to say this. Pretty sure the calendar is called "US Holidays", not "random holidays for other countries". Seriously, what the **** Apple? If I wanted another country's holidays on my calendar, then I would add those countries.

This holiday showed up in the US Holidays calendar this year. I have never heard of it honestly thought it was a typo of some sort in the database.

I have learned something today...

Not my priority. I would look at dated Red Hot Chili Pepper Videos if I wanted to look at colorful images and if I wanted a good camera I would buy a Nikon F or a top of the line Cannon. As for owning a phone I prefer one that doesn't cost a grand, wont lag, has good battery life and does not need toggles when I have no choice in using earbuds w a cable.
