Came here to say this. Pretty sure the calendar is called "US Holidays", not "random holidays for other countries". Seriously, what the **** Apple? If I wanted another country's holidays on my calendar, then I would add those countries.
This is clearly the one thing that happened today that we should all bet the most upset about.

Pixel 2 beats it. I've used both and ended up keeping the Pixel. It's even more amazing considering it has one lens compared to the X's two, all thanks to the software. You hear that Apple? It's the software that counts. Something you've been lacking in lately.

To be fair.

Google needs data to get machine learning to do the things the iPhone needs two cameras for. Google is notorious for using user data. Here you have a company mining data and the other using hardware to bypass shady dealings. Do no evil my ass!

Slightly off topic but is he promoting some type of scam? I don't use twitter at all so I am not familiar with these "@" symbols everywhere

Absolutely agree. Switched to the Pixel 2 last December, also love the free unlimited storage for full sized photos and 4k videos! I've always wondered what Apple is doing with their huge datacenters. Seems nothing that would benefit it's users.

They all do it, although Google gives you some value back. For example, I get alerts from time to time saying "found a new restaurant you might like..." and things like that. They're brilliant!

That's a nice feature Apple included.

Of course some, apparently feeling threatened, will reflexively trash it because it doesn't produce perfect results a portrait photographer with years of experience could achieve with lights, soft boxes, stands, batteries, reflectors, etc.

Others, however, will recognize providing lighting features, imperfect as they are, will enable ordinary users to tap into their creative side and create photographs that make them and their subjects happy. From a device that fits in their pocket.

And perhaps a few of those, after playing around with their phone camera and effects, may feel stoked and motivated to even want to pursue photography or some other artistic endeavor.

A good thing.

what's with that horrible cut out in the first image. It looks like some kid just learning photoshop. Surely this image is a troll to make that black background look Apple is so proud of bad.

So I've heard, but unless it's markedly better, it's all relative. It also helps to be in the right hands. My mom would take a terrible picture on any smartphone.

The @ symbol is used to reply or reference other users on Twitter. The same effect happens here, just like this: @vicviper789

So not a fan of the effect but this is the only way phone cameras will be able to compete with dSLR.... with AI effects. The colors in that bottom shot look a little saturated. My brother is over in India with his partner.... they've both been uploading some truly wonderful shots from their phones to our family group. 8+ and a Samsung phone.

How come americans have to be so xenophobic? -asks an American in London. It takes effort to be a xenophobe. Boggles the mind!!!

Um, nothing too special here. Could have been shot on any number of phones.

India is going to be the next huge growth market for Apple. Good move.

Yeah, like this photo is going to thrill the Indian population and move the needle on market share. Not.

Not my priority. I would look at dated Red Hot Chili Pepper Videos if I wanted to look at colorful images and if I wanted a good camera I would buy a Nikon F or a top of the line Cannon. As for owning a phone I prefer one that doesn't cost a grand, wont lag, has good battery life and does not need toggles when I have no choice in using earbuds w a cable.
So why are you here on this forum? We can only assume you own some Apple hardware or you wouldn't be here. You cannot deny that combining two or more Apple products increases the convenience and workflow power greatly. At least that's my experience using Apple products both personally and professionally. Surely you understand the difference between a dedicate pro camera and a smartphone that takes nice pics but also does about 10,000 other things.

The iPhone X is the best camera I've ever used in low light. I have no android experience however.
It’s amazing in low light. But there’s a persistently annoying tendency to blow out highlights and lose details in highlighted areas. And I know that from owning a Pixel 2 phone whose camera handles highlights and demanding HDR scenes better and comparing the photos it takes to that taken by the X I had for a month and the 8 Plus I have now. If Apple can just tweak the camera software to correct for this issue, their camera would be truly formidable. The video capability of an iPhone is impressive.

They also need to improve the sound on audio for the videos.

Android phones often can record in immersive stereo sound, albeit with sometimes distracting results if you want to record sound from just one direction like a person speaking onstage. But it was really quite a shock to hear what I’d been missing all these years on iPhone recordings when I got a Samsung S7 Edge. Sadly the sound on my S8+ wasn’t as good. The Pixel 3 has the same mono sound recording as an iPhone but the mic seems to pick up sound better.

The tricks the IPhone X can do with the lighting and bokeh is fun to play with but I have some serious challenging times with my 8 Plus rear camera getting consistently acceptable results on any given subject. I’m hoping they continue to refine the software.
