Something tells me you're sporting a man bun.

I believe I saw an older thread where you mentioned that Siri is perfect. Umm ok.

Nope. Dreads. So now you're resorting to appearances? Stay on topic.

"believe I saw an older thread where you mentioned that Siri is perfect. Umm ok."

Yup. For playing music on HomePod. Full stop. And? Does that irritate you?

Not at all but it does make me doubt any shed of credibility on your part. You can have the last word because its pretty obvious that it means so much to you not only from this debate but from many others where you go on the defensive with vitriol against anyone that has a different pov. Pretty sad and very undemocratic but typical. Dreads? Funny because I always subscribed to the "One Love" mantra... you might want to give it a shot.

Vitriol?

Just answering your questions. No need to get worked up if you don't like my answers.

Again, try and stay on topic. What I look like should be no concern of yours, ditto with what I've contributed in other posts.

That's just obfuscation to the topic at hand. Which is about Tim Cook being able to market in areas that have a large base of potential customers. In the millions, in India.

Just to be clear....I never judge based on looks. Ever! Political correctness either. The Dread comment was with regard to Bob Marleys "One Love". Sorry you didn't get it. As far as your other posts...one would have to be blind not to see the selective bias this thread included. Read them again. After all thats what forum posts are for....to be read but w Fair, honest and respectful debate included and not beating a dead horse.... where pm's might be more suitable and enabling you to "pop off" minus the embarrassment. Last, I have stayed on topic... it just didn't jive w your option and I'm still not ready to sing TC's accolades. Get over it already. Thanks! ;)

Still obfuscating. About me, past posts, Bob Marley, embarrassment, oblique insults, suggesting I have a man bun and other characterizations directed my way, me not getting over it (whatever "it" is) and on and on. You seem bent on making it all about me, which is simply a deflection.

Anything but the topic at hand. And that's Tim Cook marketing in India, a huge untapped market for Apple with millions of potential customers, during the Holi celebration.

No need to "sing TC's accolades," or even like him. That's just another deflection. Simply understanding that CEOs marketing into large untapped markets being one of their primary jobs, would be enough.

This comment is solid gold. hahaha
It’s quite a good comment on the holiday as I mentioned earlier I have Indian relatives. Sure they don’t represent all Indians but this holiday in particular has captured western hearts due to the colors. My Indian relatives, their friends and family that I know….. they don’t really care for it.

My only wish for people is to not act.... not saying you..... so offended by other cultures. We’ve had cheap mass transport for decades now. It’s time to stop being so negative on other cultures that don’t impact you one iota. Considering how furious parts of America gets when two men might want to kiss in public or get married..... or even when a mother wants to breast feed her child..... I think the US has a long way to go.

Apple CEO Tim Cook this morning tweeted a series of images that celebrate the Hindu festival of Holi, which began on March 1 and ended today, March 2.

Cook shared three images from the India-based festival, taken by photographers Prashanth Viswanathan, Amit Mehra, and Ashish Parmar. Cook noted that each image was shot on the iPhone X.

These are NOT good photographs. Stage Light makes them look like someone without any photoshop prowess has sloppily edited out the surroundings with a black brush. It's such a terrible effect. The lighting on the subject is obviously not from a studio or stage so it just looks odd. Especially around the top of the guy's head and round his head-wrap.

Aside from the tired aesthetics you can clearly see the person taking the shot in the reflection of the subjects sunglasses. All the oooh and ahhh's yet it's C grade amateur photography at best (regardless of the captured captivating holiday event) performed on an a well hyped and imho overrated camera. No real harm done but Apple could and should offer more focus on the phones strengths and weakness where there is still much to be desired and less on the bells and whistles in which fanboys and apple enthusiasts will love no matter what.

Sadly, it appears you and some others don't understand why Apple included this feature in a mobile phone; essentially a camera with special effects that fits in the pocket of consumers.
That is fine and all and I do understand why they did it. Which is also fine... But selling it off as professional is downright misleading the audience. Apple claim to care about art and its future and at the same time they sell absolute amateur cutouts off as being professional.

I believe Sir, you are the one not understanding why we complain.

"More marketing and PR from Tim Crook™ trying to get a foothold in the Asian markets."

Imagine that. A CEO doing his job, marketing, trying to get a better foothold into a country with a population of 1.3 billion people, and many millions of potential customers, on behalf of the company he's responsible for. Next thing you know he'll be delivering keynotes, visiting company stores, and talking up the products Apple develops and manufactures.

Why the slur on Mr. Cook's name? Resorting to juvenile insults like that only zeros your credibility.

You're right, my bad. Tim Cooks time is better spent tweeting photos and doing marketing and public relations work to get Apples faulty products into some of the countries with the largest populations in the world rather than overseeing that the products and updates currently being produced actually are ready for release in places that they're already being sold, since he is the one ultimately responsible for the Apple brand. That way, once Apple is producing even more product he can go ahead and send the whole quality control and testing departments out for a long, well deserved vacation since they don't do anything anyway. You right. My bad. You much smarter dan me. See, I can't even spell rights.

Thank you.

If your Apple products are faulty, you should schedule a Genius Bar visit and have them looked at.

I use an iMac, MBP, iPhone X, HomePod, and Watch everyday. And an iPad maybe once a week. No problems here. They all work fine and work well together. I suspect that's true for many others.

A shame you need to resort to hyperbole and exaggerations. That greatly diminishes your credibility.

As does this: "You right. My bad. You much smarter dan me. See, I can't even spell rights."

100% Spot On w regard to premature releases and quality control! One of my biggest pet peeves in a company that I invested in years ago but "What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach." but thats the beauty of a democracy where freedom of speech and opinion ring out even if it does ruffle some peoples feathers. Bottom line Tim Cook might need to take a course in Marketing 101 and if giving the green light to the beats acquisition (Something that Steve would have never endorsed) has any bearing on his business acumen then he just might need to go back to pre-school and start from there. Globe trotting taking colorful selfies just doesn't cut it.

Great, we are in agreement. No one, including professionals, are being fooled.

The fact that millions of people who casually take pictures now have tools, imperfect as some are - especially since some are beta, available in a device that fits in their pocket that allows them to creatively make photographs and make people happy is a good thing.

I do understand how some so-called "real photographers" may feel threatened that so many untrained people are now making photographs, with many achieving outstanding results. Same thing happened at the transition from film to digital photography years back. The hate back then was pretty brutal.

Here's some images of the holy Indian festival, featuring closeups of two white people having a grand time
That's pretty much how I read it, too. Only religious festivals where paint bombs have become a tradition need apply.

This portrait lighting stage light mode is ridiculous. It simply looks like a heavy-handed vignette executed by a novice photoshopper.
...who missed the sky showing the through the male subject's hair. It's still early days for the dark background portrait effect, but I thought it would be a little more polished coming from Apple. It will be interesting to see how much more intelligent the software can become.

Came here to say this. Pretty sure the calendar is called "US Holidays", not "random holidays for other countries". Seriously, what the **** Apple? If I wanted another country's holidays on my calendar, then I would add those countries.

I also posted about this in Apple's forums, but they remove complaints about colorful Indian holidays used for iPhone marketing being shoved into the "US Holidays" calendar.

I first saw Holi on my calendar last week and thought it was my typo (instead of entering Holiday). I was looking for Easter (silly me). Seems we get all kinds of third world holidays and Christian holidays are GONE. I've unselected Apple's version of US Holidays and made up my own calendar.

Slightly off topic but is he promoting some type of scam? I don't use twitter at all so I am not familiar with these "@" symbols everywhere
That's not TimCook.

That's Ţim Cooķ, an imposter taking advantage of the rich variety of diacretical marks. And yes. that imposter is promoting a scam.

Or are you merely pointing out that an $8000 kit would take better photos than a $1000 phone? Because no one is debating that.

a $8000 kit would get trashed-- unless precautions are taken.
https://www.gettingstamped.com/how-to-protect-your-camera-during-the-holi-festival-or-a-color-run/

so would a $1000 phone. Is the iPhoneX waterproof enough to hose off?

Absolutely agree. Switched to the Pixel 2 last December, also love the free unlimited storage for full sized photos and 4k videos! I've always wondered what Apple is doing with their huge datacenters. Seems nothing that would benefit it's users.
Ever stop to wonder why all that storage is free? Hint: It isn't because Google is particularly generous.

The iPhone X is the best camera I've ever used in low light. I have no android experience however.
If you believe all the reviews the pixel 2 and the new s9 beat it. Probs just Apple haters!!!! How can the most expensive phone on the market not be the best in every category? Really..?

The point is pretty clear unless of course one is being over analytical or reaching for a reason to disagree but IMHO Apple should maybe focus more on improving the mentioned handicaps of the 1k phone and not tout as much on the camera quality and ability. After all it is called the "iPhone". ;)

"So why are you here on this forum?"

My Bad! I was under the impression that this was an open forum for discussion, civil rants and honest opinions and not exclusive for those who polish the "apple" on the teachers (Mr. Cooks) desk.
The point was clearly directed toward the photo op that was displayed... therefore with the upmost respect, consideration and regret I'm sincerely sorry if my opinion didn't jive w yours and my comment bruised your feelings. Forgive me???....maybe even one of those Anderson Cooper hug outs?? :)

"Surely you understand the difference between a dedicate pro camera and a smartphone that takes nice pics but also does about 10,000 other things."

Except having to use an adapter when using wired earbuds, questionable battery issues, a flawed Siri along with the other mentioned handicaps.... so without splitting hairs ("10,000 other things." lol) surely you understand the difference?
It would be great if you would drop the snark and just answer a question so I'll do it for you. Wired earbuds that come with the phone do not require an adapter. I've never had a battery issue and neither do most. Siri is flawed along with all voice assistants so I wish they were all as useful as they appear to be in commercials.
[doublepost=1520377113][/doublepost]
Artificial? LOL...wow.
What's so funny? Haven't you heard of gaussian blur? There isn't a single smartphone with "portrait mode" that doesn't use it.
