People will continue to mock him, but Tim has come a long way in his ability to communicate his passion, opinions, and support for what the company is doing. It is clear that he's incredibly bright and does have a real sense of ownership for his decisions. He may never be as charismatic as Jobs, but he fundamentally understands what needs to be done and is piloting the company in that direction.

I think it becomes more obvious every day that indeed he was the correct choice to take the helm. That's not to say that we can't disagree with his decisions, but he's a far cry from the long list of failures that once held the CEO title bookended by Jobs.

With respect to Beats, pay careful attention to the order in which he describes the reasons for purchasing them. If you still think this is about headphones, you're not listening.

As for TV, it is a mess that I'm sure they're attempting to wade through. We may not see anything in this area for several more years (contractual hell).

Wow, intelligent, insightful commentary; are you ever on the wrong forum. Postings here are supposed to be monosyllabic, single sentence, and angry, preferably degrading some other poster for inexplicable reasons. Thanks for raising the bar, now back to our regularly scheduled vitriol.

I just listened to the second video.

"TV is stuck in the 70's" - Tim Cook

Bank on that rumored Apple TV in the next 1-2 years. They're definitely working hard on it or he wouldn't be making such "keynote like" statements.

I disagree. You can NOT bank on this as proof of that rumored tv set. Why not? Because the tv set isn't the issue. It's the TV service. That is what is stuck in the 70s and 80s and what Apple needs to disrupt. Otherwise a tv is just a display.

I thought the first clip was the best. They practically have a memorial to Steve with his office left as is. I hope it stays that way for decades.

When I first read that it reminded me of Scientology, which in all of its buildings has an office for L Ron Hubbard for when he returns.

The second thing I thought of was Mrs. Havisham from Great Expectations with her clock stuck at 20 to 9.

Not saying they're the same as Steve Jobs' office.

The Steve Jobs's Office is still as he left it, thats new information for me. Nice interview!

Cook is definitely coming into his own. It gives me hope for great things to come.

Who here would want to follow an act like Steve Jobs? Or Babe Ruth after he pointed to the fence before hotting the most famous homer in history?

Cook deserves a lot of credit for even stepping up to the plate. I think he's doing great.

I think it's pretty unfair the criticism Cook gets. I think most people expect him to be like Steve but he will never be.
The guy is getting better as time passes and being more loose and friendly too.
Steve picked the right guy IMO.

I am not sure if it will air on Sky at all, best keep your eyes on YouTube for the full edition early next week.

Thanks - that's a backup option I guess.

I'm still hoping to watch on TV; Sky seem to show the programme most days at 04:00 British summer time, and other times. It's on the channel 'Bloomberg TV'.

It's just telling which episode/edition is the one that Tim Cook will appear on…

I really don't think Steve's brain is dead. I am seriously starting to wonder if his brain is functioning inside a secret lab waiting for the medicine to catch up to be able to transplant it into a healthy body.

Am I kidding? Not sure anymore. This may be feasible if you have a couple billion dollars to spend.

I'd love to see a new Appe TV with an Apple A8 SOC, 3GB memory, USB ports - support for external storage and come with:

1) An App/Game store
2) A game controller.
3) Microphone on the remote linked to Siri for searches
4) It would be nice if the remote was a little bigger, had the same basic controls it has now on one side, and also a basic keyboard on the back.

Cook no good.

Apple needs charm again. Cook does not have it. Get someone who's experimented with LSD again.:apple:

----------

Steve admitted Cook is not a "product guy" in his bio. Enough said.

I don't mind Tim. Obviously, he is not Steve, but nobody ever will be. I feel he is truly passionate about Apple and the products that they make, unfortunately his tone and way of speaking make it come off as kind of fake seeming. I don't know how that can be changed, but I hope more people can look at what he does and realize that he really does care about the company and their direction.

"we make the best products"
even before watching the video, I know he's going to say this at least once.

Steve said this kind of thing all the time and didn't get nearly the crap that Cook gets for saying it. To me, I don't want someone running my company unless they believe just that.

Also, the thing about Steve's office remaining untouched is pretty awesome.

I find it so beautiful that Jobs' office still sits the way he left it and quite right too. It would feel totally wrong to clear out his office or remove his name tag. With that said though, they're moving offices soon and Jobs' office should not be forgotten. They should have it removed and reconstructed in a museum somewhere. With all his files and everything. Just a piece of history that can forever remain constant.

That can cause a problem in not allowing you to move on.

Like a child who passes away and keeping the bedroom as it was for the next 40 years. The family can have a lot of trouble if they can't let go and move on, constantly being reminded.

His Apple Tv comments makes it seem like every current cable channel would be on demand somehow. I know with Tivo it will auto record suggested shows if you turn that feature on.

IMO, I think whatever device is done and they are just waiting for the networks to cave to their model be it ala carte or something different.

Off the wall idea: Buying Tivo could be a possibility. Only a $1.6B market cap. Be it for timeshiftimg patents or whatnot. I know that has been a rumor for the past couple years though.

He couldn't sleep after using the Beats subscription service one night...really?

Steve's DNA

Steve's office is still there, untouched and his name is still on the door. What a powerful reminder for everyone at Apple to continue under his guiding spirit! Very cool to hear that tidbit from Mr. Cook! :)

My biggest enjoyment of this keynote was Cook as presenter. He seemed comfortable for the first time. It's good to see him relaxed on stage.

Good to see Cook this time!

Notice this aired on PBS. Any commercial network would burn him at the steak as a non-believer at the Altar of David Sarnoff for his statements.

The only thing keeping the existing television network model to continue are contractual obligations modeled around fifty year old broadcast technology. This whole "fast lane" attempt to break Net Neutrality is about keeping bandwidth held by a handful of a few distributions.

As usual, the control freaks will fail. Apple has it right and we'll see television shows independently streamed by their production companies out on the net with revenue generated by per show payment or commercials where the network carriers operate at 1% to 10% of a television networks cost.

This leaves the "three letter middlemen" bypassed with no value to offer a free market.

That was my impression too. I hope it happens. TV is bad now.

IMO, most television shows are a waist of bandwidth that should be streamed to each viewer as demanded.

The whole concept of a broadcast schedule is obsolete replaced by playlist updates for users to watch as desired.

If you don't already know what Apple is as a company, hope you know now that they've bought Beats. Ah, the the wonders of brands....
