Amazing. Steve Jobs put Apple so far ahead it was able to sail rudderless and unmanned for over a decade of simian mismanagement and still remain profitable. Sort of like Sputnik 2.

I do hope they right the ship. My first Apple product I paid with my own money was the Bondi Blue iMac and that thing was a tank. I loved everything about it (filtered through the bias of nostalgia).

Sorry. You actually believe your hyperbole? That Apple invented a new category of product with the revenue of several small countries, apple grew to 5T and over 1B active devices because it was “rudderless and unmanned and under simian management”. With all of the complexities of the world changes in 15 years, apple just breezed through it because SJ handed a perfectly running company to Tim.

iPhone 6 - HD retina, design, focus pixels and 1080p video - for me it was amazing and photos were good
6S - i liked live photos, wallpapers and 4K video
7 - Retina P3 pretty colorfull display, amazing camera, water resistance, stereo speakers
X - oled, control just by gestures, better portraits and zoom, design - that was peak for me, all screen display
11 Pro - tested on Devin Castle, ultrawide was something back then, also great batter and better brightness, f2.0 portrait/zoom apperture - for shooting photos it was werey usefull
13 Mini - back to small iPhome form factor, F1.6 great photos in darker conditions, powerfull chip, it also looked like iPhone 4 memories 🙂
14 Pro - 48mp raw, finally more details from my tours and travel photos, portraits were breathtaking, 2000 brightness usefull in summer
17 Pro - great cooling during games, zoom is plus for me bec i like capturing mountains and animals in forest, 3000 brightness was very usefull during summer trips. speakers are really good
iPad Air - used for gaming and music back then, lighr and thin, unique design
iPad Pro 10,5 - used for drawing mostly, later gaming, and for music - it has wonderfull speakers, i designed many thirts on that tablet
iMac Retina 5K - amazing for photo editing and looking movies
MB Air M4 - good compact mac, light, fine speakers for some music, i like keyboard and love trackpad for daily use
Apple TV - i meaned it as a service - couple months in year were aome great shows, also ice age show was spectacular
--- doe me its not just a device but tool to make life better - used for daily tasks
i love photography, so iPhone become mine daily device instead of old camera, compact, usefull for all tasks
i mean it as Tim Cooks era - i know that products were made by his employees, i was gratefull even when Jony was there for design, im gratefull for all people which made iphone great device and made another products as well, its team work
HAHAHAH ex-CEO walking around the office talking to staff and everyone is like "Would you just f#$ off already Tim"
You can't ignore the starting position given to Tim.
Did he strike you as a visionary or someone who brings the best out of people?
You could have been given the role of CEO and Apple may have done even better. You'd prob have to drop the I7 from your handle though.

Yes. Someone who achieved what he achieved is a visionary. Albeit in a different wrapper than Steve Jobs.
And if SJ has lived and continued in a leadership role at Apple it could have floundered.

Tim was put in the CEO spot by Steve, who knew what he was doing. Steve left a big navigational chart for Apple and Tim kept that ship on course through quite a few adventures. They didn't need vision, they just needed to execute and adapt.
The chart has played out and there are new lands to discover now, so a hardware visionary is going to take the helm again. Tim will still be there to watch out for hazards but thankfully, his hands are off the wheel. They have an enormous war chest, serious influence at the top offices in many nations, an energized and mostly loyal user base that many companies envy, and a tremendous technological foundation.
I have zero preconceptions about Ternus. I'll observe, I'll critique, I'll compare, but I don't expect him to do what I want - I expect him to do whats needed. Onward.

The end of an era is upon us, as Tim Cook will be stepping down as Apple's CEO on September 1, after 15 years of leading the company.
Cook has been Apple's CEO since 2011
Tomorrow, Apple's hardware engineering chief John Ternus will become the company's next CEO. Cook will remain at Apple as the executive chairman of the company's board of directors. In this new role, Apple said Cook will assist with "certain aspects" of the company, including "engaging with policymakers around the world."
Cook became Apple's CEO in August 2011, after Steve Jobs stepped down due to health problems. Under his leadership, Apple became the world's most valuable company on multiple occasions, and it launched products and services such as the Apple Watch, AirPods, HomePod, Vision Pro, Apple Music, Apple TV, and much more.

Apple has set all-time quarterly revenue records over its past few quarters, so the company is in a strong financial position as Cook hands the reins to Ternus.

"I love Apple with all of my being, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with a team of such ingenious, innovative, creative, and deeply caring people who have been unwavering in their dedication to enriching the lives of our customers and creating the best products and services in the world."

Good riddance! Apple should immediately revert to its former glory before Tim Cook’s unfortunate tenure. Eliminate all unnecessary, confusing, and buggy features and customizations. After all, this is an iPhone, not an Android! Ditch the ugly design. This is an iPhone, not an Android! Should I apply this principle to all other Apple products and software? What a dull period for Apple it was…
Cook was the man, objectively. Users love Apple products, or the company couldn’t have grown to nearly $5T.
It’s really that simple. These are just terrible takes that ignore reality.
