Okay, well I'll just mark your response as ambiguous dislike for something with not much to back it up.
Now that I am home on my computer I was going to elaborate on some of the disappointing thing about the ATV4, but it seems others have beat me to it. Maybe I can add a few for you.
I have had an ATV1, and ATV2 and ATV3 and now the ATV4, and anyone who says that the ATV4 doesn't have anything compelling enough to make it an upgrade over the ATV3 is just kidding themselves.
This is very subjective. My statements are saying that I was disappointed by the ATV4, while most of yours are taking subjective statements as fact. Also, I have ATV1, 2 ,3 and 4, so does many others.
First of all, there are plenty of good apps available.
This is debatable. Personally, I use Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Weather, NBC, HBOGo, Showtime, Music, Computer, Trailers and on occasion I play some bubblegum games.
Besides the games, the rest of the Apps were available on the ATV3, and I think most of the apps have a better UI on the ATV3, especially Netflix.
While there might be some good Apps out there, for me, the best ones are already on the older device.
Amazon Prime is on its way soon.
I look forward to this, but I also heard this for a while. There was a rumor on this site that it was suppose to be out before the end of 2015. So, I won't hold my breath.
And the advent of the App Store means that more great apps will come when developers finish and submit them, instead of when some big name negotiates a deal with Apple.
But, the apps are not here now, and may not be here for a while. So the ATV4 has potential to be great, but not yet.
Not sure what you mean about the remote being disappointing, but I find the remote to be one of the best things about the product.
It is nice that you like the remote, but many people don't. I think that many would agree that it is not good for games, does not feel natural when using, and searching with text is just silly.
But the ability to search and navigate content by voice is such an upgrade over the ATV3 as to make your comment laughable, IMO.
The voice search needs work, and depending on it is laughable.
Searching with voice is a hit or miss type of situation for me. Sometimes it works, but many times it is useless. Try searching stand up comics for example.
It does a ton more than the ATV3. That's a ridiculous statement. Voice searching and navigation. Developer based app store. Apple music voice control, among others.
The ATV4 has more features than the ATV3, I don't think anyone is denying that. Whether the new features are worth the added cost to upgrade is the debate. The App store may take off one day, but as of today, it still is not there. The voice and nav is also a debatable subject because many people on this forum dislike the new UI, the apps UI, and using the voice search.
And you may not find the games interesting or compelling, but a lot of people do and will. I've never been a gamer myself, and would never dream of buying a PS4, Nintendo or any other game console. But for the casual gamer the ATV is a great source for a short distraction of a game.
I am also not a gamer, beside WoW, and the occasional Mario game with my kids, I do not play. But, I was really looking forward to the ATV4 when it came out because of the game potential. But, now that developers must use the Apple remote for the games, I doubt we will have a rush of decent games coming to the ATV4.
I am amazed how creative the developers are getting when it comes to making game that use a 1 button controller, but these games seem like they are all bubble gum games and nothing that I was expecting.
Not sure we bought the same device. They delivered everything they said they were delivering when they introduced it.
Apple's press release called using the ATV4 a "revolutionary experience". Even if someone really likes it, they might find it hard to call it revolutionary.
