Nothing, it's like the GHz myth. HDD performance is not linked to disk spinning speed only.

This is true, RPM alone doesn't mean anything.

Several years ago, one of the HDD companies, I forget which one, announced a large storage (for the time) drive that was designed for laptops. I can't remember the size, maybe it was 1TB?
Anyways, the speed was only 4300 RPMs, but it was way faster than the current drives on the market due to the large storage space in the compact size.

But Apple should have made Fusion Drive standard for desktop Macs.

Agreed, and not with the 24GB SDD, but the original 120GB size.

Just dream of all those amazing watch bands in the pipeline. These bands are going to revolutionize the world!

If you haven't picked up an Apple Watch, these bands will change your mind!

I know there will be a flood of comments disagreeing with me, but I feel the ATV4 and tvOS has been a disappointment so far.

I had high hopes for it, only to be let down.

I hear you, bought one for my parents and I am quite disappointed as well. Thankfully infuse/plex add some utility. I also think the remote is horrible.

Yes, i really want to know what Cook has up his sleeve for the iPad range.
Can't see the iPad Air 3 reverse the downfall.
Perhaps he has something special in mind for the iPad pro 2?
Making it lighter, thinner and faster?
Giving it a higher res display?
Making it a true hybrid, so you can use it as a Mac with MacOS?
Releasing a special PadOS, with a simple kind of filemanager?

what was it you were hoping for that they didn't include?

Not to be rude, but I mentioned some stuff already many times on the thread and others. I feel like I keep typing the same stuff over and over.

There is a lot of reasons I am disappointed with the ATV4, but maybe I can give you a few quick things.

The Apps that are shared with the ATV3 are horrible on the ATV4. Exception to this is HULU. The new apps, such as games have been disappointed, probably due to the Apple remote requirement.

The IR remote buttons are inconsistent for video playback on different apps. The placement of the Apple remote buttons, along with the design.

Netflix, UI is the worst.

There are many other things listed on my prior posts.

so, it sounds like your issues are mostly with the developers. they need to put out better quality apps.

That is a big part of it, but definitely not the only part.

I also wouldn't blame the app quality solely on the developers, especially games.

Being forced to require the Apple remote when developing games might be preventing console quality games from ever coming to the ATV4.

i've been having a blast playing Jetpack Joyride. i highly recommend you try it

He said Apple does not need to launch a less expensive device with pared-down features to entice buyers in these markets, as research suggests people will spend more for a better experience.

Yeah in other words they'll never make such a cheaper iPhone with reduced features. Like an iPhone 5C for example.

Oh, wait....

He also teased "far off" hardware products coming beyond 2016

Perhaps Macs coming with DDR4 the next year? It's time. And remember with introducing DDR3 in 2007 Apple stepped the path in the late 2008 installing DDR3 in all of its line-up.

Here is a sarcasm-free response to this.
With everything else being equal between 2 HDDs, the higher the RPM, the faster the drive will read and write.

If you play games like WoW, you will notice a big difference on the load screens.

There are some downsides to having a higher RPM on a HDD, one being it cost more, another being it uses more energy and causes more heat.

I never heard of having a lower RPM being less reliable than higher, if everything else is the same. Although, some of the really fast drives, 10,000 and 15,000 RPM ones are considered more reliable, but that might have more to do with quality of parts and design than do to the RPM.

You can have a lower RPM and still have a fast drive though. Some hybrid drives use a slower RPM drive and have really good speeds.

I think everyones complaint, mine included, is that Apple is only putting these drives in the desktops to save on money. They are purposely gimping their product, and now it is hard to upgrade the HDD on some of the desktops. I think these type issues have become more common in the past few years.

Although, I think it is worse that they made a 24GB SDD in the Fusion drive to save on cash, it use to be 120GB.
Okay this all makes sense. Thanks

Except for being antiquated technology, slow, unreliable, non-upgradable in the new iMacs, and guaranteed to be a hardware bottleneck in almost every computer?

No, nothing wrong with them at all.

Yea I genuinely do not know about the technology so I was interested to know the problems with them.

None at all.

Except Fusion drives and Logic Pro X don't get along. At all.

Don't have to believe me. Believe the pages of discussions on Support.Apple.com. There are a lot of them. Feel free to tell "them" you don't believe them.
