I think people need to reign in their expectations. All Apple needs to do is rebrand the new SE to the “16E” as rumored and it technically counts as a “new member of the family” from Apple’s perspective.

I very much doubt Apple would be able to introduce something actually new without anything leaking ahead of time.
Not to mention the fact that if it were an all-new product, you'd think Apple would hold an event for it with invites sent out to the press. This product release will be announced via a simple press release.

Guys...it's not a square AirTag. The graphic is just a screenshot from the post on X, where image/video previews have rounded corners. The actual video is in a square aspect ratio format with a white background, which is what Apple usually does. Ya'll are reading into this too much.

Agreed.

- “16E” - with new modem and higher price (this way they aren’t “raising” the price of the SE, per se. This is a “new member of the 16 family”
- 16
- 16 Plus
- 16 Pro
- 16 Pro Max

Everyone else hoping for some new product category or whatever in this thread is (very likely) setting themselves up to be disappointed as something that close should have definitely leaked by now, ESPECIALLY if it’s hardware.

are people that buy the SE even big Apple fanboys? Doubt they even pay attention to this sort of thing. Quit teasing me Tim and drop that homebot damnit.
And what’s the relevance of this statement? Events gather widespread press attention and non tech news outless in turn report on the product launc. This reporting then reaches the general consumer who the product is for.

I'll believe it when we finally see it, but: "newest member of the family" could mean Mac Studio is finally joining the M4 family. (Or, as someone else noted, it could refer to M4 Ultra.)

But when's the last time Apple blindsided everyone with a major product release? It just doesn't happen any more. So the iPhone guess seems far more likely.
