Maybe because the Mac Pro doesn't require special parts to be made ahead of time in China. But I don't know about the first iPhone, nor did I follow rumors back then.

sure, but it's almost all bespoke but also made and assembled in the USA. Perhaps easier to control the leaks. And A lot of automated systems involved.

Reminds me of The NeXT Factory steve jobs made in the 80s.

Actually, I'd like them to test their Mail app against, say, the most common email service in the world, before they release it.

That would be a start.

Yet another OS for Mac release with crippling Mail problems.

A little less self-congratulatory posturing and a bit more product testing, would go a long way, thanks Tim.

Anyone else noticed features added in Mountain Lion, missing from Mavericks?
Version control must be something only hipsters outside Cupertino do…

Now I know why Apple didn't dare charge for Mavericks.

Before you get dizzy on your high horse. I want to point out that Google could (and have) in the past easily changed subtle ways that allow integration of third part apps. Microsoft have certainly done this in the past. Breaking Hotmail which was working in the betas, ON THE DAY OF RELEASE of a new OSX. It's software. Things can be changed in seconds. Get over it and yourself.

Well said by the person with over 5000 posts, on a Macrumor site...

You are not being serious?

Where will you misspend your time if there are no Macrumors? In the same post you even state that this is not even a proper rumour, so you are contradicting your own statement surely? Because on one hand you are asking for a more serious violation of Apple's code of conduct (leaks) and then saying they should be sacked.

You also say that this is not newsworthy in your other post. So are you suggesting it is ok to leak the new Macbook Air with retina specifications, but not company codes of conduct?

Or anybody who does (and fuels your patronage to this site) should be fired?
Sorry I think employees who leak internal company videos and memos should be canned. I don't care if it's Apple or some other company.

Most companies have things like this where there is workplace ethics training, security training and even health and safety training. It is basically goes hand in hand with the employee handbook. I don't really see anything groundbreaking here.

New low for apple "As Dr. Martin Luther King once said, the time is always right to do what's right. ":(

The iPad did leak, but they thought it would be called "iSlate". That was about the time I first started looking at MacRumors, and I remember hearing about the iSlate all the time.

"Do the right thing" is a generic phrase. It's a coincidence.

He cited MLK

It's disgusting and apple needs to change their message

Double down on abusing MLK's legacy for corporate self-aggrandizement.
Pathetic.

What's pathetic is your complaint. Tim Cook made a statement that everyone could use as a moral guideline. And he correctly attributed it to the famous person who said it.

Of course if Martin Luther King had said "The time is always right to do what's right, but please don't tell anybody", you would have a point. But he didn't say that. He made a statement that he wanted everybody to hear, and now all the Apple employees have heard it. Exactly what Martin Luther King wanted.

How do you suggest they should change it?

"It's never the right time to do the right thing"?
"It's always the right time to do the wrong thing"?

I've read some pathetic comments here, but they way that you, Bubba Satori and others are abusing Martin Luther King to try to score some points against Apple, that is disgusting.

Dear Tim, its not right to sell the iPhone 5s 16GB 400 bucks more than the 5c 32GB in Brazil, when they cost the same in the US.Sorry, but your company sucks balls here.Your company is stealing us here and you don't even care.

By now it's likely been mentioned in this thread, but it makes me laugh that a video/transcript of an internal communication about how you (in part) shouldn't leak stuff outside the company was "leaked" outside the company. :D I'd imagine this particular communication wasn't necessarily top secret, but find it funny nevertheless. :)

Ah but it's good click bait for the likes of Business Insider.

This type of material isn't anything out of the ordinary for a large corporation. Asking employees to review a code of conduct that emphasizes ethical standards is routine, so I doubt this has anything to do with specific leaks etc. for the past year. This isn't much of a scoop per se. It's run-of-the-mill stuff.

You will never stop the product leaks having so much produced in China. Apples jurisdiction stops at the border contrary to popular belief. If some disgruntles assembly line employee or just someone with enough motivation (financial) wants to snap a shot or walk off with a ejected part they are gonna find a way.

"The right thing"???

I'm having doubts. Apple is abandoning legacy support and features left and right. We users have data from before five years ago - Apple's seeming cut off - that we still want to access. The world didn't begin five years ago. Apple should be providing full legacy support for all past software. They have the computational power to do any necessary emulation, sandboxing and enveloping of apps. They have the know how. They certainly have the billions of dollars in profits to support such projects.

1. They don't cost the same in the USA.
2. They don't charge "bucks", they charge "Reals".
3. How much of that price difference is Brazilian taxes?

All ISO certified companies are required to do it for all employees. And I would like to think that most of us work for companies that pride themselves on integrity. The company I work for requires all employees to complete annual training ('physical course' in the first year of employment, online every year thereafter).

Making a clear statement of the company's 'business ethics' is a nice step, but it will not really do much.

The best thing Apple can do is to vet their new hires better. Screen potential new employees with greater scrutiny. Make sure they are the people you want.

I am sure they do already. Nice/good people can change under the right circumstance. Mr Nice Employee that would never ever leak a thing might under unique circumstances. Now I am not saying it has to be far fetched as an ax-wielding murderer threatening to kill their spouse and/or children unless they divulge the information (I know I've seen too many movies)... but more realistically someone can be going through something and under the right circumstance an intentional leak can occur.

I wouldn't feel comfortable or safe working for Apple. The company is built around the values of a man who seemed to have some sort of anti-social personality disorder.

Why is anti-social a disorder? Most of the parties and social downtown life that I've seen that can be considered "social" events end up with drunks, drug users, fights, cheating spouses and partners, drunk driving, filth, public urination etc.

Seem to me anti-social is not the one with the disorder. ;)

Speak up huh?

My friend who had worked at apple stores for 8 years in 3 different states was fired because he informed his manager they were over capacity and it was a breach of fire code.

The iPhone did not leak. Neither did the iPad.

Leak means that we've seen what the device looks like before it's release. We knew both devices were coming, but we didn't see them until they were officially unveiled...

Yeah it's really just the iPhones and iPads that leak. I wonder if it's because those are Apple's most sought after products. iPod touches have leaked too though.

Maybe because they have to stockpile so many it's just bound to leak. The Mac Pro didn't have to really be mass produced when it was first shown. Same with the iPhone and iPad.

Wrong, we had pics of the iPad in it's huge black lockdown case before it was released.

They do the right thing?

That's why they are opening up on Thanksgiving? Schiller calling all Apple customers thick?
