RE: "Cook also said that Apple is pushing for regulation against tech companies like Facebook and Google that build data profiles of their users."

Better yet, make it ILLEGAL for any public company with Debt to Buy Back Shares ... that will prevent Ponzi Schemes !

The main problem with Cook the past few years is he is always promising the FUTURE ... & NOT Delivering on the present !

IMO, the smartest move Cook could make would be to reduce Schiller's role @ AAPL ... let him continue to do the iPhone intros every September, but nothing else.

Unfortunately you don't understand how buy backs work and how they benefit shareholders. Might be time to read up on it.

I have been pretty impressed by my iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, Smart Keyboard, apple watch and AirPods.

I certainly don't regret Apple opting to focus on developing those products at the expense of the Mac.

Pretty sure it's independent development teams, so not sure there's really a correlation there.
In any case, no company should be ignoring product lines in that way.

Excuse everyone for being a bit jaded about Apple and their "pipeline of wonderful things" which so far, has not materialized. People are tired of waiting for something really innovative. Animoji's are not innovative. It's obvious what people want, yet TC and team never deliver.

So please, be patient with the haters. As soon as something other than a spec bump, a watch band, some new camera trick, or a new set of emojis is the focus of the annual Apple dog-and-pony show, I think most people will still be unhappy.

The pipeline has materialized. Apple Watch is innovative. iPhone X was innovative. Airpods. Apples SOC work. Swift.

All of these things might not be for you. But diminishing what Apple has already done for fitness with the Apple Watch to “watch bands” is ridiculous. Not to mention what they are trying to do with Heathcare. Diminishing what Face ID is in combination with the iPhone X design, Secure Enclave, their SOC work to “Animoji” is ridiculous too.

This just makes you a hater. You aren’t reasonably and objectively looking at what they’ve done.

Tell us more about your insider Apple knowledge and how Watch and AirPods are a failure or iPhone doesn’t sell 3X the units as the Jobs era.
sorry I love apple as much as you do but let be realistic for a second
Steve created the products not Tim
Steve launch the products, it took some time for the world to find out how amazing the iPhone was
also the iPad, by the time all hell broke loose Steve died

so Tim took over after apple was famous again and the iPhone and iPads sale all by themselves
also Steve left a bunch of notes and ideas about future projects

but you are free to believe what ever you like
if you think that Tim is good, I don't have any problem with that
I simply don'y agree

Kentucky still sales chicken but none of today's employees invented the recipe

I got it Tim
iShoes

remember Maxwell smart
lol

maybe is Tim the one who should get smart
all these pages are full of people making fun of him and apple

have some dignity and go away
put a visionary in your place, because you don't know what you doing
you are only good to milk a cow

Tim “What’s in the Pipeline Is Amazing” Cook.

He was saying the same stuff back in 2012-2013 and all we got were the Apple Watch, HomePod, AirPods, and some incremental improvements to iOS products.

I would argue the Apple Watch is much more significant than people gave Apple credit for. It's honestly one of my favorite devices and works great for fitness and health tracking. It's also doing very well for Apple, topping iPad sales now.

So is Apple becoming a healthcare company? Or are they a computer company?

FaceID is nice, but it's not a product. It's a feature and one that really doesn't do much differently than what TouchID did, which they removed. Many people still prefer TouchID (me being one of them). How was the iPhone X innovative? It's slightly different looking than the 8, but don't the iPhone 7 and 8 do pretty much everything the X does? Runs the same apps? Use the same iOS?

I noticed you didn't use ANYTHING Mac as an example of Apple's latest innovations. I think that's what the "haters" are hating about.

What do you expect him to say? "Apple has some really average products coming up that will just bore you to death."
no he should speak with actions no with words
the more a person talk the higher the expectations

a good product speak for itself
simply don't say nothing and get the job done
and when that fantastic device comes out people are going to be like
WOW

but Tim is saying WOW and not delivering on his promises
and when we see the new super hype up device
we be like , all that noise just for that
please

remember when Steve presented the Macinstosh, the iPhone, the iPad

Apple has a pretty functional organisational structure, which allows them to move people around as and when more attention is needed in a certain area. So if Apple wants to commit to an annual refresh of the iPhone and Apple Watch (which would require a ton of resources), while also working on AR glasses and other wearable tech, they would simply move manpower away from other products (possibly the Mac) in order to achieve this aim. Which is likely what Apple has done.

It basically boils down to opportunity cost. At any one time, Apple has only so much resources available to them. They did the math, and decided that it was better to focus more on products that reflected their vision of the future (mobile and wearables) over products that didn't (Macs).

Even if you argued that Apple could hire more people, chances are that most of these new hires would still be funnelled to work on mobile and wearable technology, and not the Mac side.

Some people are going to be fine with this decision (like myself, as the nature of my work doesn't require me to have access to the latest and most powerful Macs, but I am happily using my 2018 iPad Pro to teach in the classroom), others won't be (especially if their livelihood banks on top-of-the-line Macs), and well, I have no easy solution for you.

Although I can understand why someone doesn’t want to hear the same thing over and over from Cook, but what would you expect him to say? He _should_ be positive and uplifting, and needs to let investors/customer base know that there is new technology in the works. What I like about Apple, is that sometimes they surprise us with things we never saw coming, and Apple is usually really unique about placing emphasis on making their products more memorable and special. That’s why I think they have such a strong following, because they are unique in what they do, even if it’s not on our timeline of when we want to see these changes.

When was the last time they surprised you with something?

They surprise me with the price tag, that’s about all lately..

Not hating as I love Apple always will probably. But you know and I know the new direction is to play it safe over at Apple.

I guess I don’t expect him to say anything else. It’s not like he can say we got nothin lol

I Don’t disagree, their price tags have exponentially grown for some, where it’s out of reach for their spending habits. And as much as I support Apple, I always don’t agree with their mark ups. But back to your question, I would say the AirPods and Apple Watch are by far the two best products I have purchased from them over any product since owning multiple Apple devices in my household.

Sometimes it’s hard to support a company when they continue to keep raising prices where the product isn't meeting expectations for the consumer. I still think Apple makes a great product, and not everything they do is going to be appreciated by everyone, but I still Find their service is useful for my needs, but perhaps others differ here.

I don't really see a lot of complaining about the "power" or "innovation" of the Mac products, but the reliability..
That's my issue

The keyboards fail - the t2 chip & bridgeOS crash..

If anything people want less innovation.

I'm just totally tapped out on the excuse making by so many on Apple's behalf.

If they are going to have Macs and charge what they do for them - they need to be better - more reliable in particular.

It's not ok to go this long with this keyboard situation (as just one example).

I’m as optimistic as the next person, but I can guarantee we’ll still be waiting for the next truly innovative Apple product a long time from now...

Apple held its annual investor's meeting at its Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California, this morning, where Apple CEO Tim Cook shared some details on Apple's future product plans.

As outlined by Bloomberg, Cook said that Apple is "rolling the dice" on some future products that will "blow you away."

Cook went on to say that Apple's eventual goal is to be able reduce the price of the 2018 Retina MacBook Air, which currently starts at $1,200. In reference to the Apple Watch and the AirPods, Cook said there's a "long, great roadmap" of "fantastic" products on the horizon.

While Cook did not go into more detail, rumors have suggested that AirPods coming in the near future will be available in new colors (black) and will have new functionality including "Hey Siri" support and the ability to be wirelessly charged.

More ambitious products are also rumored to be in the works, including a pair of augmented reality smart glasses and perhaps even a full self-driving vehicle.

On the topic of services, Cook said Apple is well on its way towards meeting the goal it set in 2016, which was to double its $25 billion revenue by 2020. Later this month, Apple is expected to unveil two new products in the services category, including a new streaming TV service outfitted with original television shows and a new Apple News service with access to subscription news sites and magazines for a monthly fee.

Cook touched on other topics at the meeting as well, including Apple's political ideology. Shareholders soundly rejected a proposal that had suggested the ideology of board nominees should be disclosed in an effort to diversity the political opinions of Apple's board.

Cook also said that Apple is pushing for regulation against tech companies like Facebook and Google that build data profiles of their users. Cook first called for new U.S. privacy laws to protect citizens from data collection in October, but Apple has long been an advocate for customer privacy.

When Tim Cook talks about products that will blow you away, I am assuming he was referring to the soon-to-be-released iGun.

“Available in pearl white, cherry red, aqua blue, emerald green, silver, and space-gray, the Apple Gun is going to be the slimmest, lightest, fastest gun ever built. With Apple’s new, revolutionary Space Distortion Technology, the Apple Gun has the innovative ability to use .40 caliber bullets from a weapon that is not only sleek and stylish, but only 0.37 inches wide at its widest point. (Applause) it’s also the quietest firearm even with no external baffle or silencer, firing a 169 grain round while producing only 37 dB of sound, focused almost entirely forward, towards the target. Oh, and one more thing: fully loaded, it’s actually lighter than the total weight of the bullets in it, and it can hold up to 50 rounds of ball, tracer, or hollow point ammunition.”

Not available in California.

Excuse me? He wanted to accept or reject people on the board based on political ideology? He was raised in China or something?

I'm in agreement that BOD-level leadership shouldn't be subject to any ideological litmus test. Fortunately the shareholders rejected it, so that's good.

OTOH, there is a very real problem with the groupthink that occurs when all of the participants see things from a common perspective. Doesn't have to be political. In Apple's case, it might be about "thinness". When everyone driving the product line is adamant that thin is better... then that becomes a primary criteria for new development. Without someone to say "wait a minute... thin is OK, but functionality / battery life / etc. are just as important", all you get is thin.

Lowers the price on one device while raising the prices on everything else most likely.

See, we do care about our customers. /s
