I don't think paying one man such an insane sum of money is ever deserved.

Unless it's you or me, right? Then of course it's ok 🤣 I'm sure you'll deny that, but come on, you know it's true. It's simply envy that leads people to say things like this. If you read the article, you would see he clearly deserves (and is owed) this based on his performance and the agreement he had. He's worked hard to earn his success.

His salary alone based on 26 pay periods is over 565,000 a paycheck…before taxes of course :)

I have come here only to comment that the image choice could not have been more apt. Good job. Gives a nice chuckle.

Not going to comment on whether or not it was deserved, whether this compensation could have gone towards compensating the increased chip costs instead of passing it to consumers, etc.

This is only about the image. Which could not have been more apt.

We can say well-deserved all we want. We shouldn’t also forget how this has come about. Is it because of his exceptionally good talents and skills, or just because he leads a firm amassing so much wealth by each product they sell? Some of this wealth, I think, should go around in the form of discounts to buyers of Apple’s products, or reduction in product prices overall.

I support Cook as CEO but I have to disagree. I don't think paying one man such an insane sum of money is ever deserved. I'm glad he plans to give most away though. He's certainly doing much better than other wealthy CEOs in that regard.
You do know that Apple did not pay him $750M. . . . they paid him 5M shares of stock that vested after 10 years. Based on Apple's price in 2011, that was worth about $57M. And in order to get it, he had to work 10 years. The fact that AAPL stock, and his net worth, has grown so much is due, in part, to his leadership.

Nothing wrong with the current prices. But give every member in the chain a share of this instead of just the one person. Apple isn’t doing so well on the back of just one man.

That’s pure BS. You can not “earn” that amount of money. Even Lebron James who sweats for his work has only earned about 400 million in salary. I mean “earned”. Envy has nothing to do with it. It’s an absurdity that one defends this kinda stuff and the reason it will never change. The odds are better for you to win the lottery than to “earn” this amount of money.

millions of starving people around the world and one billionaire adds 3/4th of another billion to their bank account. nothing to idolize.
Starving people in the world can’t be fixed with just money. If it was so simple, the problem would be solved by now.

So what exactly is proper compensation for him? He took his options, led the company, and they increased in value. He also increased a LOT of shareholder value, which is exactly what he is supposed to do.

Pay deal payed off then. If the stock went south it wouldn't be so much (obviously). Performance related pay in a way.

No, not you or I either. What one would enjoy having and what one deserves can be quite different. I'm not disputing that Cook has worked tremendously hard during his time at Apple or that he deserves to be well-off. But has he worked hard enough to earn $750 million and is that a just payment given how Apple's engineers are being compensated in comparison and given the level of wealth inequality in the nation his company is based in? I don't believe so, but it's fine for you to disagree. Like I said, I support Cook as CEO and this isn't a criticism aimed at him directly. I think it's part of a much broader issue.

I think once they launch the car in 5-10 years, Tim is going to retire. That’s probably the last huge thing he wants to do before retirement.
