Well you could do that, but then you are attempting to deliberately sensor freedom of speech. You know that little thing millions have died over the years fighting for!

Freedom of speech means the government can't censor you. It doesn't apply to websites like this one. Typical misunderstanding of the concept, it just means the law says you can say your opinion, not that a website is obligated to publish it.

Some sad and pathetic comments over all in this thread. You would think Tim getting this award is the reason the Mac Pro hasn't been updated. Tim Cook has conducted himself in a dignified manner and stands for some principles and rights that are important to many of us.

If you want to rag on him for not building the better iMousetrap or whatever device your sense of self entitlement thinks you deserve, go ahead.

Otherwise let a thread that should be positive continue in peace. Congratulations to Tim Cook on this award.

That is OK.

We always have people like you to defend white supremacist's right to spew racist vitriol.

Well done for Tim C. Good use of the platform you command.
Improper use of the platform he commands is what you meant. He should have no more say than you or I, yet here he is using his position at Apple to leverage a political ideology that the majority(very close to it) don't agree with. He should be building new products and updating old ones instead of complaining about social issues that doesn't effect him the same way as it does the rest of us.

Which political party did Steve Jobs openly campaign for as CEO?

Right or wrong everything he's doing is intended to help all Americans and unless you can provide some specific examples of this mythological "white agenda" I'm calling BS and knee jerk liberal reaction on you.
They never can, I had someone on another site try to use a CNN article as proof. I was like o_O

these free speech awards these days disgust me.

have a pat on the back for saying something everyone agrees with no matter how illogical it is ('apple welcomes everyone'- including islamists tim? jihadists? murderers? rapists?.. or did you mean something else by everyone?).

its a constant self congratulating circus on the left. the word diversity has become a righteous cudgel to be used on all who have the only type of diversity the left don't like, diversity of thought

Free speech awards to those who follow those who don't tolerate free speech.

Artists want to create the art they want (photographers, cake decorators, etc) and express their free speech - they are crucified.

When those who are religious say they don't believe in gay marriage (not that they hate gays or want them killed or jailed as they do in Muslim countries) - we are hate filled and need to shut up - losing our first amendment.

But when Cook tells us to shut up he gets an award for free speech.

Tim Cook should get an award for Total Jabroni. Focus on your products your consumer base wants. Keep your goofy nose out of politic and social stances.

We can, thankfully only imagine what Steve Jobs would have thought of Trump.

i think he would have thought 'this isnt my sphere of influence' and would have gotten on with making products, not apple watch bands

They would hav loved each other. Think about both are egomaniacal narcissists thought of poorly by everybody around them. I jest I jest.

The actual quote (from the link) was:

"Cook, who has led Apple since August 2011, will be recognized for his leadership in creating technology that has had a profound impact on how we communicate. Further, he has used his spotlight to take a public stand on major societal issues, including racial equality, privacy, protecting the environment, access to education and LGBT rights."

I agree he used the spotlight to take a public stand, not too sure about the first part. Maybe they are referring to iMessages? not sure.. (maybe just a generic blanket for continuing the iPhone??)

iMessages predates Cook's CEO role though by a few months. Just about every worthwhile Apple device and feature does. And, yes, he continued the iPhone, a device that was already many generations old and beyond "ground breaking" status. The iPhone was already 100 floors tall by late 2011. So to continue it he literal would just not have to totally screw it up.

I can't think if any societal changing technology that Cook has announced as CEO. A few cool things, but nothing that has changed how people communicate.

Wrong, you have a narrow minded opinion and view of 'freedom of speech'. Censorship does not exclusively mean the government!

https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/freedom_of_speech

The power or right to express one's opinions without censorship, restraint, or legal penalty:

‘the move would further harm freedom of speech in the region’

Well, I guess he didn't invoke the first amendment. But websites like this are under no obligation to provide freedom of speech. Their site, their rules. Your freedom of speech says you can make your own website, nobody else is required to publish you.
[doublepost=1486149135][/doublepost]And no, nobody died for "But I want to post on that website!"

Well I guess we'll have to agree to disagree and just throw a party celebrating the fact that Milo wasn't able to utter his garbage :) Yay! So sorry the left is disappointing you so... time for you to head to Breitbart, I guess, and read all the racist crap you can.

I think it is about time conservatives start suing those who call them racist. Such accusations have to be proven, otherwise they are defamatory and should be dealt with in court. Just my 2c for the correct approach for dealing with this issue going forward.

Entertaining idea... good luck with that... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha :D
