I wonder if Jim and Renee sent Tim a doodle from their Apple Watches that was code for "Meet you at the Palo Alto store in 30 minutes..."?

LMAO at all the folks in here thinking he's putting up a front with the words he used. Some folks wont be pleased unless he told everyone how many they sold so far.

one would think if the pre-orders were truly great, they would be shouting it form the rooftops with extreme excitement.

instead apple is taking the diplomatic approach. apple never takes the diplomatic approach.

He also said "incredible" and "extraordinary".

[People don't even bother watching the video.]

Sad that it's just extraordinary :( Looks like Apple is really hitting rock bottom now.

If things were actually good he would have said "orgasmagitastical".

Watch the video... he said "incredible" and "extraordinary!" Are these words good enough for you guys?

Poor Tim should have known that he should have said "Super-di-doopity" because great only means a million or two while the other word means 10mm. OMG the people and their inside knowledge of a product and definition of a word - since the product that just went on sale 12 hours ago. lol and besides, Tim would probably only know that all watch orders are pushed out into June/July + and will want to wait and see what the first day and first weekend numbers would total. Believe me, no analyst knows how many have sold.

GREAT: of ability, quality, or eminence considerably above the normal or average.

Synonyms (means the same) - considerable, substantial, significant, appreciable, special, serious;

It's interesting that he personally recommends the white sport band. Given that's one of the cheapest available bands (by far!), it shows that he's not about making every public statement into a sales/marketing opportunity. I like his integrity.

Hi there from Germany :)
i just got an email that my order got cancelled (Apple Watch Sport 42 White Band)
In the mail was written that i ordered too many, but I only ordered one :(
Has anyone else that kind of problem?

limited quantities available would not have affected the number of pre-orders coming in, though.

I personally will never order something with more than one or two weeks delivery time. I'm sure I'm not the only one. So pre-orders _are_ affected.

can you show us the email?

Sure :)

so it´s german but it basically means something like that:

"Dear Apple customer / Dear Apple Customer,

Thank you for shopping at the Apple Online Store.

Sorry, we can not process your order because it exceeds the quantity limitations per customer. Therefore, we have canceled the order, and you will not be charged. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

With best regards

Non-story. What else are they going to report... that sales were mediocre compared to their other launches? There is no way to know the day of the launch whether the shortages are from demand or supply being (intentionally or otherwise) low.

Grain of salt.

Strange..
I personally haven't had an email like that, however i think one or two people further up in the thread have had similar emails..

Tim just showed up to a store to see customers and employees. This wasn't a Keynote presentation.

But those who want to call the watch a flop, or botched release have already made up their mind. If he screamed it from the roof tops, those people would say he was overcompensating because it sold out too fast and they didn't make enough.

Call them tomorrow and ask or an explanation.

Samsung "sold" 800,000 of their first watch in the first 2 months.

I would imagine that Apple sold that many within 2 minutes.

As with other product categories, Apple hasn't always been the first to get something to market. But, what they usually get out is better than what has been available previously.

Please describe how this one is so much better. I don't see it.

That smile is because they just sold a few hundred million dollars of product in 6 hours. And they did it without a reality distortion field.
