i just saw a pic of him from a couple days ago, and he looks TERRIBLE! so he may not make any presentations, unless its for a like a conference call

That picture from TMZ looks fake as hell. But if that is him he's not gonna be around much longer.

Agreed. I know he's had some issues in the past few years, but he's still only 55.

(By the way, he's wearing a skirt on the picture.)

It is most likely real. Cancer can do that two people in just a couple of months. Why would TMZ post a fake photo of Steve like that.

Explain the skirt then.

TMZ is all about rumours and celebrity gossip. Lots of images they post are fake. It's just like all the tabloid magazines.

I know almost nothing about PhotoShop or how to fake a picture, but just something I noticed in looking at it...If you look at the shirt he's wearing closely on your monitor it kinda looks pixelated a little bit. Which probably would be no big deal, but I doubt a professional photographer was using a Fisher Price camera so you'd think the photo would be high quality. Which it appears to be based on the headshot that is cropped from that photo and looks perfectly clear on his face....except for the shirt which looks even more pixelated. Just something I noticed and I already admitted I don't know crap about PhotoShop so no need to call me an idiot if I'm wrong.

If Apple is smart, and I believe they are, they will have Cook singlehandedly launch an amazing new iPhone 5 to prove without question that Cook can steer the Apple ship into the future.

I believe there will not be a crappy incremental iPhone "4S" to lead Cook into the first year of his CEO career. It will be something big, awesome, and launched completely without Jobs (even if Jobs had a huge hand in its development).

He is probably on the way home from treatment from the hospital, which would explain what appear to be the skirt. They could get into a lot of trouble by posting a fake pictura of a dying man, especially someone as Steve. I'm not saying that it is necessary real, but I have no reason to believe otherwise. Hope to be wrong of course....

Honestly I think Steve Jobs should walk up and officially introduce Tim Cooke as his replacement. That he has full Faith in Tim and Apple. Then Turn to Tim And say it's your show and let Tim take over. Sure everybody wants to see Steve but sadly nothing is forever. Sometimes people need to take care of themselves & family 1st, or just enjoy life. I think he has earned sometime for himself to decide what he wants.

Wake up Muro, you're dreaming. Jobs resigned and will not be a part of future keynotes. His participation would only serve to undermine Cook and the new products.

I'm not sure whether Tim Cook will do muck in the way of Keynotes (though he may to one this year to given confoidence for his role)

he's never been much of a presenter, and it may be left to the likes of Schiller and Jonathan Ive.

Did they photoshop the gown and the guy basically holding him up too?

I highly doubt TMZ is a crappy news source.. They knew about the Lindsey Lohan sentencing before the judge even said it on live TV. I remember the judge saying something about it how the judge can read about it on the internet during a recess when it was only between the lawyers and the judge what was going to happen.. Seems pretty good to me..

There's no doubt that Steve is very sick, but that doesn't mean the shoddy pic is real.

As for TMZ, a few stories here and there do not absolve them of their history of poor reporting and falsified stories. Read up about their past deception.

If Tim is the new CEO, then he should rightfully do the keynotes. Or at least have the option to. I'm sure Steve understands this as well. It's time to move on, people.

EDIT: Surely to god that picture isn't real. There's no way.

but he's still only 55.
He may be 55 but he's had many health issues and that would greatly reduce his life expectancy.
He looked NOTHING like this in June..

Just because he looked different in June doesn't mean he hasn't changed. When people are sick they can deteriorate very quickly.

If you are trying to say that Steve Jobs isn't very sick and is OK, you are just in utter denial.

oosh, all this fan-girl fantasizing about how Steve will come riding in on a golden unicorn to deliver the iPhone 5 keynote. Have you all been asleep for the last 6 months? Have you not seen the photographs of the terminally ill Steve? This poor man can barely walk on his own power. He resigned for a reason and the last keynote was all he had in him. If they did wheel him out in a wheel-chair, it would completely detract from the iPhone introduction and would just depress everyone. No one would be talking about the iPhone, but how ill Steve looked.

Let the man go gracefully and move on with your lives.

Yep I'm dreaming! That's what also Jobs did back in the 70's just before he established Apple and see what happens if you have a dream ;-)

"People who don't dream are increative zombies, sucking the essence of progression of what we are capable of out of us"

(This can be dumped right away in my other thread at Macdiscussions called "Self made quotes") just have a look, maybe it can trigger your creativity for once.

Thanks for inspiring me ;-)

Okay, keep on dreaming.

Jobs dreamt of doing something big not something that is silly like you.

Some of you are actually getting serious on my hypothetical question. I know the man isn't probably physical capable to attend the keynote, let alone to give a presentation. It would be a nice scenario not like I actually think it will happen.

Pfff..don't some of you really don't have any insight in grammer or language.

Go the the site where the "proof" of the "fake" was originally posted (reedit) and read the comments. The "proof" was debunked.

TMZ is a tabloid but is NOT known for making up stories. Sorry, but the pic is real.

If he was as frail as he looks (and as ill), I think he'd need more support like a walker or a cain, not just a man holding his side.

Sorry, but the image is fake.

EDIT: I'm not in "denial" as a smart one said above, nor do I think he is in 100% perfect condition, but the image seems exaggerated.

Having dealt with many people in the last days/weeks/months of terminal cancer that photo seems pretty realistic. If they faked it, they did a good job. After a tough chemo treatment his condition would look just about right.

While TMZ is a tabloid they have never been known to fake photos and if they did it would be of some sexy hot broad not a withering away Steve Jobs. They aren't into that kind of thing.

gmab! Tim Cook has, on at least three occasions, proven his ability to lead Apple. That is why the stock price only mildly fluctuated. In fact, Cook has been the lead executive, and done very well, on the quarterly conference calls. However, he, up to this point and when acting ceo, hasn't been the key figure in keynotes; Jobs or subordinates have had larger roles.

Also, as CoB, Jobs is still a major player at Apple. Having said that, being cob is a lot less stressful than being ceo. This alone gives Jobs more time to focus on the keynotes. On numerous occasions, he has delivered engaging keynotes; it's a gift.

For iPhone 5, Jobs will do the keynote!
