The Samsung Gear 3 looks more like something that Steve "would have approved" than the Apple Watch.

Only problem with the Samsung is that it's a bit too large, but GUI and control is much better
So in essence, Steve wouldn't have approved it. Also, it seems a bit too complex to be intuitive.

Jobs or cook? Seems like both fit that definition or neither.
Except that Jobs actually made useful products, turned a growing profit and knew what he was doing.

Since Cook took over Apple has been producing garbage. The iPhone 7 and the horrific changes to the Macbook Pro aren't innovative. The changes are insane and show lack of customer insight. Who wants to carry a bag of dongles for a laptop with horrible battery life. If Apple continues it won't be long before they're gone. Btw...have the scrolling ads started on the smart bar yet? That's next.

The graph below shows some disagreement to your hypothesis.

And I like the iphone 7, and it has been selling. In the last two years we bought two macbook pros, and we like them.

I don't buy into the "apple is doomed" scenarios promulgated here.

It won't be long before they're gone? Er, Apple has over $230B in cash. I don't think you know what you're talking about. Apple has sold more product under Tim Cook than they ever did under Steve Jobs.

God, I miss Steve.
Why? Did you know him personally or something?

I think the Thunderbolt/USB-C ports was a decision in line with what Jobs would have made. It's stupid to have different types of plugs. You could argue that Apple should have kept the magsafe. Everybody is going to charge their laptop so it's unlikley you will be able to use one additional peripheral at the same time.

Those who buy the first USB-C only laptops will hurt, but in the long run we will all better off if the industry switches to one type plug.

Add one USB 2 port and be done with it yeah the device would have been a bit thicker but so what.

Apple needs to find it's focus again or else it could lead to another Scully era. There is a reason why competitors are looking at other things now..tablet and smartphone markets are now mature the frenzy phase is over.

He runs the company, which is a varied and difficult role and encompasses many different things. He does not design and create new products, despite what people on many forums think.

He spends an inordinate amount of time on junkets abroad and on 'advocating' his own personal lifestyle in his activist role. He should stop his poor 'presentations' where he paces like a nervous cat while stealing constant glances at the teleprompter in front of him. Also, stop with the 'so excited' stuff on any and all briefing items. He's obsessed with the iPhone and the 'Watch'.

Woz was amusingly viewed (and still is) as a 'dreamer'. These latter day 'giants' at Apple are actually 'pipe dreamers' and Woz has turned out to be Apple's early-days 'savant'.

Or even worse..Gil Amelio years (circa 1996) when Apple was ready to go bankrupt.

I think Apple still makes the best computers and tablets in the world. I wasn't a fan of tablets until I started using an iPad. And switching from Windows after 18 years into OS X was the best tech decision I ever made. Yet, Apple spends all their time trying to hype up the next iPhone. By April or May when the leaks start to appear online which is 95% generally true, expect all the speculations to start rushing in. It generates the most views and debate. That's peak season for tech news. Oh well, their iPhones is what sells for them with the most frequent updaters.

Sick of smartphones in general. First, because how saturated the market has become with useless new features. The other is all the flame wars between Android vs iOS fans. I will never care for iOS because it lacks too many things. And it is pipedream to believe iOS can ever replace desktop OS like Windows or OS X if it can't read thumb drives and lacks a folder system. Keep dreaming, Timmay. Tim Cook has led Apple into becoming just a one-trick pony. It is iOS or nothing.

Well the thing the path that IOS has become started with Jobs. Interesting that cook gets "blamed" for this.

The path to Macintosh and OS X was also led by Jobs while Cook has generally ignored it for the last five years since Jobs' death.
I don't use OS X in an day to day active sense as I use windows, so I can't really comment. But your post specifically mentioned IOS and that was what my comment was on.

I am not blaming Tim Cook for pushing iOS to the front started by Steve Jobs (helped created by Scott Forstall). Alot of us are blaming Tim as he wants to ruin the Mac legacy with a half-***, cookie-cutter mobile operating system like iOS as if this is Apple's only source of income. Drop the prices a little more, and there is still plenty of room of growth for OS X users. I get it that iOS is their bread winner. But c'mon Tim! Don't neglect on Macs!

Damn I missed when apple was so focused on computers and not gimmicky mobile gadgets

Think Different :apple:. They were known as Apple Computer. Remember?

Failing across the board I think your way over exaggerating it there!

Maybe I missed it, but which hardware line is not falling?

iPhone?
iPad?
iPod?
Mac?
Watch?
Airport (rofl)?

All down in sales. I'd say that counts as falling across the board.

Services are up for now, but that's easy to do when you're starting from almost nothing. And the funny thing about services is they don't so well when you're not selling the hardware to support them.

When you fall off the cliff, it's fast and steep. In September 2010, RIM (Blackberry) was worth $83 billion. Today they're under $5 billion.

When Apple is phoning in junk products like the iPhone 7 and EmojiBar Mac, it's only a matter of time until they go over the cliff.

I don't care about Mac desktops. I don't care about routers or monitors. I don't use their "professional" software.
A lot of people do, so don't you think it's fair to say things are indeed heading south for them with regards to Apple?
As far as the ipad, when was it ever different than the iphone starting in 2010. (Steve did that one).
That's just it, isn't it? When Jobs introduced the iPad it was clearly meant as a consumption device. Tim Cook, by contrast, has declared the iPad to be a laptop replacement but the OS has remained the same as the iPhone. This is what I mean by a stagnate environment.
Complete change of focus of Watch product, nope.
Yup. The Watch was touted mainly as a luxury fashion item ("Switzerland is in trouble"--LOL!) but now Apple is pushing it mainly as a fitness tracker.
So basically that is *your* laundry list of gripes. Mine is a different list.
Great, but I suspect I'm not alone with my list.

Some do, some don't. There are differing needs and wants across the customer base. I do not think things are heading "south" with apple.

There have been threads here at MR in the ipad forum, that for some, the ipad is a laptop replacement. Doesn't it depend on the individual use case.

Nope, not a fitness tracker, but apple got smarter and with the hiring of health experts, it will be taking on some amount of telemedicine. That sounds like adding capabilities, which apple is very good at. But sure a gold apple watch selling for $10K sounds like a luxury item to me.

You may not be alone, but it is not the definitive list and certainly doesn't speak to everybody.

I have the very first AW and the only worthy thing they added in their latest version is gps and waterproofing. I don't think Apple has any vision with their AW

That's a good one. What will you do if the iPad bricks by any chance? And they call it a laptop replacement

My son loves his aw. Uses it at the airport, for reminders, Apple Pay, the biggest thing..notifications..he can leave his phone in his pocket. Everybody's use case is different.

I don't need to do anything,Apple does it for me.Hasnt Timmy sent 3 updates past year which bricked devices?
The chances of Microsoft bricking my laptop are much less and even if they do I can still use safe mode with networking

Kudos paying upwards of 400 for a notification centre. That's the one thing it does very well and has been useful to me.But if that's all then its definitely not another iPhone and Apple is going to have a very hard time convincing first gen owners to upgrade

Much of your post are just hyperbole; sorry. And didn't Microsoft just kill dhcp servers with a recent update? And I'm sure the bsod never ever happens to anyone.

Angela made $23 million for what? Turning Apple into a fashion company? The watch that isn't selling as well?

Don't forget where it all started. Apple is a computer company, not a fashion brand. The two will not converge once computing power gathers pace again.

Apple is not a computer company hence the reason why they changed the company name years ago. You should get your facts together before posting here.

Yup. Only made 8 MILLION dollars this year. That'll make him cram a USB A port onto the next MacBook Pro!

USB C is the future like it or not.

Yes and it was easily fixable with a restart or the ipconfig/release command and renew commands. If your PC has a BSOD,if its a software issue you can bypass the issue through safe mode with networking and roll back the update.Unlike Microsoft,Apple sent updates which literally rendered the devices dead

Now Tell me what I should do when an iOS update totally bricks my iPad and I don't have another instrument handy.I will wait

If USB C is the future why is the iPhone still on lightning and still cant be connected to an MacBook Pro out of box
