The app doesn't work for me.

Have Time Warner Cable TV.
Have Time Warner Cable Internet (Turbo).
Am at home.

The app gives me various errors. Once it let me log in and see the channels, but then failed and crashed when I tried to load one.

Talk about sheeple. Good god.

"30 basic channels". In other words, close to the number of free OTA channels which require no carrier that you could get streamed to the iPad using Plex or XBMC or any other streaming media function? Of course we don't want any of the other 100+ channels that people actually PAY FOR and would be worth seeing.

Only on your home network - this is so self defeating it'd be funny if it wasn't so ludicrous. So you're saying that it only works in the same location as the TV where the hard line cable is located? Seriously? Because of course it wouldn't make any sense at all to, I dunno, TAKE MARKET SHARE from hotels to be able to stream the channels people are already paying for without paying hotel premiums?

This is exactly why I refuse to pay for Time Warner's cable service. Their internet is fantastic, but until they get out of the stone ages, I'm not paying them a dime over the $66 I pay per month.

As of this evening the TWCable TV app doesn't work here

Spent about an hour battling with TWC online chat, just to get the registration to work. I needn't have bothered - it either locks up the iPad, or just tells me the "service is currently unavailable".

Another triumph for TWC!

It worked perfectly, earlier today, but now I am getting the same apology screen. I had perhaps 20 or more channels, including most of the ones I watch with regularity; News, NatGeo, Discovery, Syfy, etc.

It's a start... it's entirely behind the curve and seems more like an alpha test... but it's a start.

Almost exactly what happened to me, except my hour was split halfway between battling with TWC online chat (who eventually told me they couldn't help and to call the toll-free number) and battling with a TWC CSR over the phone. And now my app isn't working either.

Where's that guy who pooh-poohed my earlier post about having low expectations for this app's abilities, since he claimed to have stellar Time Warner service? Wonder if his app is working....

Guess that it wasn't quite ready for Prime Time

Update

About 14 channels now appear in my list (used to have only one).
But now Channel Error appears when any of them are selected.
Went online for TWC support but no one was available LOL

Perhaps they'll have their act together tomorrow :p

How are your channels determined? I am missing some that I get on my cable box and I'd like to watch o. The iPad!

I just saw Direct TV has an app

I have both DirecTV and TWC at home so I've got both apps loaded onto my iPad 2.

The DirecTV app does not stream any channels, it controls the receiver. It's actually a pretty nice app though. The layout was well thought out and it looks really nice. You can create a favorite channels section with the logos of your favorite channels and from there simply touch the logo and it will switch to that channel. You can also view the shows/movies that are stored on your dvr and access them through the app to. It has full remote controls so you can play/stop/pause/ff/rewind etc all from the app.

For me, the TWC app was working perfectly when I first downloaded it and I had access to all 32 channels. Tried it last night and it only listed 15 channels and it wouldn't load any of them, the wheel just kept on spinning. To be honest since it's a TWC product I'm not surprised in how crappy it's been.

Is it still working now?

worked in NYC this morning. kid was watching transformers on the DVR and i put on CNN in the kitchen on the ipad. my wife had no idea about this and when i explained it to her she said we'll probably have to buy another ipad soon

But not in Hawaii...

After a protracted sign up that included getting a account number NOT on our bill...I was able to sign in. I saw the start up and the menu screen...then it crashed. And crashed. And crashed. And crashed..etc. Maybe by tonight they'll have their act together.

While limited in it's use, I'm all over this for no other reason than the ability to watch while on the treadmill in the garage. Nothing like TV to get through an hour of running/walking in place...

ditto

I was excited about this app, even with its limited properties. But it's one error message after another.

Yeah, same here. Worked great the morning of launch, hasn't worked since. Last night and this morning it gives me an error message that I must be logged in through Time Warner Cable with an approved modem, which, of course I am.

Anyone had any luck contacting customer service about this?

I called them on the first day with this error message and they could not figure out what was wrong. They basically told me to try again later. Two days later I'm still getting the same message.
