Just installed the app and wow, it is fantastic. It has all my favorite channels - SyFy, NatGeo, Discovery, TLC, History and CNN. Now I can watch what I want why wife watches what she wants on the TV. Thank you TWC.

love, love, love this app!

Already used it in my office this morning to stream CNN to watch the Japan crisis. This is going to be perfect for rooms with no cable hookups.

Wow... Welcome to the World of the Mac TWC.... It just took you how many decades?

I have hopes for this but from being a paying TWC customer for well over a decade now and seeing how ignorant reps and techs have been when I tell them I have a Mac set up, I know the reality of this.

When I first got RoadRunner back in 2000, the tech came over with the modem and just about dropped a deuce when he saw my PowerMac 6500. He instantly started himming and hawing that it wasn't going to work. I told him to run the cable to the office and plug the modem in and I would show him how to do it. After connecting the ethernet to my Mac and setting the DHCP the internet came alive in Explorer (remember the year people). He looked dumb-founded at me and said that this was the easiest set up he had ever done.

Flash forward to about 3 years ago... I had a problem with my RoadRunner where the signal wasn't strong enough to the modem so they came out and reran some wire. When that tech saw my PowerMac G5 he had almost the exact same response as the tech from 7 years prior. When I showed him that it was automatically seeing the connection once the modem was turned back on he stated almost word for word what the other tech had said, "This has to be the easiest [repair] he had ever done."

The thing that bothers me the most is that these big cheeses won't commit to the iPad/iPhone... they keep mentioning "other platforms and devices".... So let's just waste money creating 10 different Android versions of this app and a Windows Mobile version instead of pouring your resources into the iOS and perfecting it before spreading yourself too thin!

This is so true... Both of those techs would probably be just as shocked if you showed them your multi-button mouse, plugged into your mac. Ignorance about macs in general is rampant in the tech world. Less so than it used to be, but it's still a huge issue.

Oh yah, and, if you can stream this to your iPad, then all you'd have to do is use mirrored HDMI output and you should be able to put it up on any monitor...

Slingbox > This

Plus, I can watch it anywhere and the quality is only as good as my signal is.

Kinda pointless to be limited to watch TV on my i-device while at home when I can watch regular TV.

Whoa, no way?? An expensive device does more than a software service offered for FREE?! You know what though, for us, this is way better than Slingbox. We have 1 cable tv box in the house. Now we suddenly have a second tv for no additional cost.

Seriously, isn't that why they invented a pause button? If you don't have TiVo or DVR so you can pause live TV while taking a bio-break, go get it. If you are seriously using your iPad while sitting on the toilet just don't get the white one and maybe pickup some sanitizing wipes for your iPad.

Am I missing something here? Are folks planning on buying some kind of wall mount for their iPad? Am I strange for thinking that a person should put down their iPad for long enough to use the toilet? QUOTE]

You must understand: It's the "experience" of dropping the deuce that matters.

Looks like you responded to somebody who does not understand men's bathroom culture.

Why sit around idly when one can read, play chess or watch something now?

While not recommended by doctors, it's very relaxing to get away from it all AND since the family knows what you are supposedly doing. They won't bother you.

Just make sure you have two bathrooms, so you don't get chased or hurried:)

Wow! This app is insane! It works perfectly, I cannot believe I am watching live TV on my iPad without paying anything extra!

Thanks TWC!

I understand why they are making it for people who have the cable service.. but seriously? I would love to have live tv on my iPad.. but we have satellite at my house. So this does no good for me =/

With Slingbox you can watch that anywhere i.e office, park, airport and not just confined to our house, that is the only advantage to Slingbox.

This app has so much potential and I hope TWC doesn't stop. What about live sports like ESPN3? Watching recorded shows from my DVR? I have the signature home package (Love it) from TWC, so i already have whole-house-dvr I wanted this app to work along side that package. Plus I do want to control my dvr from my ipad, TWc's website is garbage and the load time is to long to utilize that service.
Good app so far, fun to watch TV from my iPad, but please don't stop enhancing something that could be great.
Oh yeah by the way TWC, this is the first time you have a leg up on a competitor so don't blow it.

I know - the app is relatively basic at the moment, but I was floored that Time Warner, who has been relatively non-innovative in the TV sector, launched this at all.

Of course it needs a pause button, a channel guide, and eventually the ability to control other cable boxes in the home. I suppose asking for AppleTV output would be asking too much. ;)

I love how the CTO and CEO just sit there and basically have the look on their faces that say "I have no idea what we're talking about, I just get paid inordinate amounts to stand up and speak in front of a crowd when I have to."

How many channels are you getting? I installed the app with no problems, however, I'm only seeing about 5 channels. No CNN.

Edit: Never mind, I rebooted my iPad and everything seems to be working fine.

Is there any way of using MyWi on an iPhon and setting it up to fool the application that you are on your home network?

Can you watch two different channels with slingbox and your TV? Didn't think so.

Man I hope Bright House Networks has something like this! I wish apple TV could stream things back to iPads iPhones and ipod touches, I would make apple tv the greatest compliment to a HDTV ever!
Glad Top Gear is also getting some page time on this one, greatest TV show ever!

Just tried this morning.
Works perfectly.
Good job TWC.
Now if they could figure out a way to get the same service away from home maybe over wifi that would be fantastic!

I understand the limits likely placed by the content creators of controlling where the content is viewed, but if I had TW I would want to watch TV outside my home on my mobile device. If I'm in the house, I'll watch it on my TV set more often than not.

Why doesn't this app work with a new iPod touch? What is the difference or is it TW's decision?

That's the logical answer, actually. Don't mind all of these other people who are criticizing this comment.

In fact, a better answer would be to simply turn OFF the TV. Are people really that attached to this completely passive activity? I don't even own a TV. Haven't for years. I haven't had a cable subscription in probably 10-13 years. It's blowing my mind to see so many people yearning for even more ways to make sure they stay stuck in front of these devices.

I'm not even religious but god bless you, truer words.

Maybe because it's an iPad app. Perhaps they will release an iPod/iPhone version sometime in the future.

Sounds great! All I'm getting on the channel guide is Hallmark HD. The video looks fantastic, just wish I could access more channels. Called TWC, escalated to tier 3, awaiting a call back since the rep was not able to resolve the issue.

Doesn't work with ios 4.3

:mad:After logging in it says it only provides content to Time Warner Video Subscribers. I spend almost $150 a month with TW between Cable and Internet.

Figuring this was a bug, I just spent the last 45 minutes trying to explain this problem with TW tech support.

Was just informed by tech support this only works on ios 4.2.1 not 4.3.

oh well.

That's 4 more channels than I'm currently getting
