I'll bet they intended to release this yesterday... then Steve said, "What?!? You're enabling wireless Time Machine to Airports?!? Rebundle it without that feature and release it tomorrow. We can still skim Time Capsule sales off these suckers!"

Hm. Maybe it's time for me to give up and buy a Time Capsule. ;)

P.S. Though totally unhelpful, here is the link for the update:

NO Fix

Hi guys

Bad news for anybody with an AEBS, there is no fix to the drop out on sleep issue, no time machine and no AEBS firmware update, all in all pretty useless for me (I use an AEBS connected to one of those "under the mac mini" lacie drives with AEBS firmware 7.2.1). So dont go rushing home with too much excitement. If anybody from apple reads this, please sort this problem out as at the moment my AEBS is an expensive paperweight that does very little of what it is advertised to do.

When my MacBook Pro rebooted it brought up the Set Up assistant for some reason - like I had just installed the OS the first time. All my setting etc are the same and no files are missing - odd though.

Oh! :(

Actually, the only thing I'm waiting for is an AEBS fix to allow one of my USB-attached hard drives to go to sleep. Everything else does what I need it to do...

It updated my Macbook's Airport to version 1.3.4 from 1.3.2

And I noticed today that Mac OS X 10.5.2 build number changed (was 9C31), I don't know is it due to this update or some of the earlier ones

Same build number here 9C7010.....not sure when it changed.

is this finally a fix for the airport leopard drop out problems?

I've lost all patience with airport and just moved my mac upstairs so it can be within a short cable length of my router. If this fixes the airport dropouts though...

I haven't yet done the update, but I've done all the others and still have 9C31.

Hahaha, wouldn't that be nice :/

Re: build number, haven't installed todays update yet, and the build number is still 9c31

Until this update I've had real problems with internet hangs on my Airport Express; that is ever since introducing Leopard to my network. This appears to have stopped the increasingly irritating problem.

Fingers crossed

This update definitely increased speed of Time Capsule network. I've never had 9,76 Mb/sec for data received. You can check it yourself. Not sure if it solve problems with Apple TV.

The package contains:

A new Darwin kernel
backupd
loginwindow
Atheros chipset wireless drivers
Broadcom chipset wireless drivers
IPFirewall.kext
System.kext
AppleShare afpfs.kext
DiskImage.framework
Metadata.framework (mds/aka Spotlight)

other junk

Quite a lot of new system level code!

I've never had problems dropping the internet connection, then again, my base station is 3 feet away from my laptop 80% of the time.

I did have the HD dropping out issue, though. I just reattached it to the AEBS to see if I get better results.

Man ... are we big Mac geeks or what :p

You think Mom and Pop are rebooting after this update and checking the build number of the OS?

Not that there's anything wrong with it :D

Ok, I see what the deal is now ... the smile on my face is now gone. Off to write another very angry email to Mr Jobs for not fixing the AEBS and Timemachine.

Ok, so here is what I wish they would atleast fix/do. Since I have invested in TC as apple wanted me to do, at least enable TM back-up to airdisk via the TC as I already made the investment. I understand apple not opening this up for the standard AEBS, but at least give it to TC for expansion reasons.

I don't think its going to happen, sorry. I think Apple will slowly phase out the AEBS in favour of a TC and Express line up.
