I really wish they'd fix the bug wherein upon deleting anything in Time Machine (a backup of some file), the F9-F12 shortcuts for Exposé are lost. Damnit Apple, you've known about this bug since day 1 of Leopard release.

Also, is Airdisk functioning for anyone? I applied the update, and am not home yet. I want the feature that Apple says we can do with an AEBS!

in a way i'm going to be so pi$$ed off if this does solve all the airport dropouts. I've been trying for weeks to solve it myself (including a complete erase and install yesterday) and tonight have just lost patience with it and brought my Mac Pro upstairs, rewiring the whole bloody thing.

OK i'm now on a solid wired connection - but it's just sods law isn't it?!

Wire < $1
Wireless > $100

Why did you use wireless again?

Thats a very silly thing to say. People use wireless for the very reason it is wireless. People don't want to always be draping cables through their house.

Also why shouldn't Wireless work flawlessly first time round? Why should people have to go wired just to get a decent connection. Damn you apple!

Wire < $1

Why did you use wireless again?

Probably because if it's 3 feet away 80% of the time, that means it's further away 20% of the time.

Is that really so hard to figure out?

My build number is no longer displayed

The build number only appears when you click on the OS version...or is it still not appearing when you do that?

Why did you use wireless again?

Because for the other 20% of the time, my laptop is in other places throughout my home.

Also, the whole appeal of having wireless hard drives was pretty good, although that is now more of a dream than an actuality.

Also, other devices of mine, like my iPhone, Wii, etc need wireless connections......

airport utility gave me a 7.3.1 time capsule update note (after rebooting with this mac os x update) which it didnt before. had 7.3 when time capsule shipped. is this new?

the 7.3.1 is new. still waiting to see any noticeable speed increase.

I downloaded & installed 7.3.1, The AEBS restarted, but now Airport Utility does not recognize my base station anymore. WTF APPLE!?!?!?!?!

YEAH! Time Machine now recognizes the AirDisk attached to my AEBS after updating to the 7.3.1 firmware. I can finally use my wireless disk for backups! No need for a Time Capsule. It's preparing to backup right now...Hopefully this works.

Why did you use wireless again?

Because:

*the DSL modems DSL providers send out these days already have a wireless base station built in.

*I have a hand held device with built-in wireless adapter

*guests with laptops appreciate the wireless connection

*this is a huge house and it doesn't make sense at all to string wires all over the freaking place if everything is already in place for a wireless connection

*full 100MB duplex is limited to certain lengths of wire. Signal also degrades where you can't string them properly, i.e. sometimes you're forced to run them parallel to powerlines.

Did I forget anything?

Mine isn't recognized

Seriously, what about a class action lawsuit against Apple because of missing - formerly advertised - functions in the final product?

So i just applied the updates (including a firmware update to the AEBS) and these are the number changes i came across

Ready, set, explain! People (not including myself as I don't have an AEBS) are drooling for this feature. Is it officially working? Can you post screenshots if it is?

I got a firmware update for my AEBS. Now showing 7.3.1

"AEBS" could refer to Airport Extreme Base Station and/or to Airport Express Base Station.

I assume here you are talking about the Extreme? My Express is at version 6.3 and doesn't seem inclined to go any higher after this update.

Have installed update and - other than a lockup on the first restart requiring a hard reset - everything appears to be normal and the same as before.

better...

I only really use my AE to stream music, and it's been useless since installing Leopard. The thing wouldn't even play a consistent stream when my MBP was 3 feet away, stuttering and dropping out.

Just installed the upgrade - and now the firmware update after running Airport Utility - and so far so good. Seems to be quite stable now.

One question though - how do I change the channel? It's currently on 6 (automatic) which is the same as my TiVo wireless adapter. Will they interfere with each other?
