Yikes. This reviewer got scratches on his Titanium on day 1 when taking photos:

One question that remains is how the titanium will age: the first thing I did when receiving this watch was put it on next to my stainless steel Series 4, for a comparison. When I took them off, I noticed that just a few minutes of occasional contact from being next to the crown of the steel watch had made some light marks on the case.

There are light scuff marks just above the top speaker hole, and down and right from the bottom. Honestly, probably no one other than me will notice these, but I still know they're there…
Damn thats not good...

I was looking for a change and happen to Really like how the titanium looks. I see it as a 14 day trial to decide if I keep it.

Yup this is quite literally me and my Titanium.

Been with Stainless Steel for a few years and while I love it, felt like something a bit different - will extensively see how I feel about it for the full 14 days before making a decision. I absolutely love Series 5's always on display - completely fixes for me something I always wanted to change previously on Apple Watch. So far, I'm feeling quite good about Titanium, for me theres something about it that feels really fresh and that sleek sharp brushed finish I would absolutely wear in an office environment - just really hope it looks good with most of my existing bands.

So if in the end I decide I don't like it worst case, I'll probably just return Titanium, 'downgrade' to a S5 SS (or maybe even give Space Black a try), still enjoy the always on display and get a bit of money back.

I didn't trade in my S4 SS to Apple; the trade in value they offered me (was just over $100) was absolutely abysmal so I'm hanging onto that for now too.

I’m thinking of changing my SB titanium to a normal titanium finish and just embracing the scratches.
But the reason why I wanted the titanium was to get the three year AppleCare and holding onto the watch for longer but then I read the S5 is identical to the S4 which is making me think that the S6 could be a bigger jump than we think.
The support for the S4 and S5 could drop off quicker.

To be fair he put two watches on the same wrist that probably rubbed against each other, who else is going to do that?
Anyone who wears bracelets on the same wrist as their watch? Not something I’m ever going to do, but my wife does it frequently with her Fitbit.

My concern is that something like wearing two watches on the same wrist is a lesser impact than the things that can occur in my typical usage. Household DIY projects, car/truck/boat maintenance, etc. I don’t want a watch I have to baby to keep it looking good. SBSS did great in that, and if SBT won’t do as well then it’s not for me.

Titanium scuffs and scratches. That’s the nature of the metal. I’ve had multiple high end titanium watches made by Omega and Panerai that cost many times more than what the Apple Watch costs and they all developed scratches and scuffs. Just embrace it. If you want a watch less like to develop wear just stick with the Aluminum or SS.

All my Apple watches have been SS. I banged them on everything from concrete to golf clubs. Maybe once a year I polish it with a cape cod cloth and my series 3 still looks great. I was looking for a change and happen to Really like how the titanium looks. I see it as a 14 day trial to decide if I keep it. Today will be the first full day of typical use. BTW The brushed SS bracelet in that pic I posted, has been worn since the original Apple Watch.

I have read that you can get the scratches out Of Titanium bracelets with a pencil eraser. Has anyone tried that?
This works but you have to be careful because you wear away the metal and if done too much it will look uneven. You also have to go with the “grain” of the brushed metal.

I don’t know about Titanium being inherently scratch prone compared to SS provided it has some type of coating. My 6 year old Ti Tag is still mint, it is PVD coated (similar to DLC).

I'm rather disappointed Ireland only gets the Aluminium versions this time round. I was debating getting a Titanium watch to upgrade from series 2; but alas. Not available here yet.

I’m torn right now and returning it to get the SS or keeping it and just embracing whatever happens. It really does have a nice look to it.
I think this is were I’m at, I think I’ll go standard titanium and not the SB as I think it’ll look quite good with the wear and tear after a while but if the SB scratches as easily, I think it’ll look worse.

I got spooked reading this thread yesterday so I decided to order a SS space black as a backup plan. Went to my local Apple store last night to pick up the SS and asked to see their Ti watch. They pulled it out of a drawer and sure enough it was already lightly scuffed up. So will be returning the Ti. I too wanted to try something different this time but not interested in the blemishes at that price point. This will be my 4th SS space black watch and I have never had a problem with any of the prior models getting any kind of blemish. The lighter weight of the Ti was nice, though.

Ditto day 3 here as well, so far so good. My ceramic should arrive tomorrow for me to compare and decide which to keep. The SBTi has such a wide range of hues, I really like it. It can go from matte black to a dull brushed dark grey. I did love my previous ceramic but I preferred the grey model over the white.

Sorry to be dim, but is that the Space Black Titanium in the photo?

Have been wearing mine for two day, and unfortunately it’s true the watch scuffs extremely easy. I already have multiple on both sides and I’m extremely careful with my gadgets. I’m torn if I should exchange it for a SS one as I can buff out scratches on that one easily.

Space black or silver? Pictures would be good here when reporting scratching...

I’ll hold on to my black and wait it out to see if lots of reports come out on scratching. If so I’ll go ssbs.

I like the “embracing whatever happens” approach. I have a series 4 GSS, and not thinking about upgrading this year, but the excitement of the new watches is contagious so I’m enjoying reading here. I think if people had been forewarned about the propensity for scratches, but it had been cast in the same vein as sterling silver flatware, that patina is a good thing, not bad, many people would be OK with it. I just pulled out my 30 year old Rolex datejust to see what it looked like (not having worn it since the Apple Watch came into my life). Scratches are noticeable on the polished stainless surfaces but just come across as patina now, not a flaw. If they are on the brushed surfaces as well, I can’t see them. If you love the color of TI, embrace the patina it will develop and go with it!

I think my biggest issue with the titanium will be with how hard of a material did Apple use.
Will it dent easier than SS?

Was this the black Ti?
