Went in to Apple Metrocentre today... trying to find something to buy and failing miserably... has to be a first 😂

The lad I was talking to got the Titanium watches out and the one normal one (not black) had 3-4 scratches on it. He seen me inspecting it and checked it over himself and was surprised to confirm it did have scratches on it. He said it had only been on display for 24-36 hours and had been kept in the locked draws under the table.

It was enough to put me off. If it could be buffed out then fine, but if not... my SBSS is mint and I use it gardening, climbing and while working on the car. I'm 100% sure the titanium wouldn't handle to same punishment.

I think two weeks of typical usage is a good test. I would also get the Apple Care just in case.

Have people had success getting an AC+ replacement for scratches? Fine print says not covered. Or are they smashing the watch to the floor "accidentally"?

Just cancelled my SB Ti. Will be ordering SBSS again. My main complaint about it in the past was the slab of black on the wrist, but the always on display should alleviate that a fair bit. It’s borderline impossible to even scuff it in regular use.

This is my first day wearing the Ti as it will be the primary watch I wear in the office.

It looks much better in person than in pictures, in most lighting situations you can clearly see the difference between the Ti and Al (I had an S3 Al). This is the Apple Watch I have been waiting for in this kind of color. I liked my SS S4 but for my own personal taste it was too shiny.

Just went to my local Apple Store. First of all I purchased a Ceramic and am also a huge fan of the Stainless Steel (due to Hermès) to get my bias out of the way.

The titanium looks like a brushed stainless steel but doesn’t look premium. The black version looks awful in my opinion. The Titanium at my local store (SouthPark Mall in Charlotte) has some minor scratches, but does a great job hiding fingerprints.

The watches are locked under the table in felt lined cases. If you are worried about scratches this is probably not the watch for you based on reports from the forum and my own two eyes.

I don’t like the SBSS but I’d choose that over the black titanium in a heartbeat plus the added durability is a plus.

Figured I’d give another first hand report. Hope this helps some buyers make a decision.

Did the black version have scratches, too? I have one on order and one still packaged (since Friday) SBSS Hermes. Wonder if I should wait for the Black Ti or not.

Yeah. Once I saw the scuffing on the demo and they wouldn't "buff out" I was out on Titanium.. The SS is so nice that you can renew it by polishing. Too bad, but I saved myself $950 lol

S4 SS until the Series 6

I thought about the scratching stuff a while yesterday. Hated the scratches on my aluminum S2 & S3, so I splashed out on the SBSS for my S4. It's been fine, stayed mint.

Ended up deciding to bail - nearby Apple store had an SBSS in stock so I bought it and returned my SBT.

That said, the potential for scratching was just part of my decision - maybe the reality wouldn't be as bad a feared - but I'd also found I don’t care for the Edition sport band, and I'd chosen the wrong color sport loop (my fault, thought it’d be different than it really was in person) Extra year warranty is nice but with this being first release of AOD I’d lay odds there will be incentive to upgrade to S6. Put all those together and I saw no point in paying the extra $100 for SBR vs the SBSS.

So I have been on the fence big time about SS Silver vs Space Black. I also was not excited about the fact that the black just looked like one big black piece of electronic but youre right about the AOD. Still a tough decision but if the black is seriously as durable as everyone says it is I am inclined to go that route.

all that money and it looks like aluminium, stainless steel is much more premium looking

Black didn’t but it was so unattractive to me that I wouldn’t even consider it. I much prefer the SSBS (and I don’t love that either) but at least that looks premium. Of course everyone’s opinion will vary.

SBSS is a tank on par with Ceramic. Never had a scratch or ding on either after a year of heavy use.

Day 4, no scratches on my SBTi. Still undecided on if I am keeping it when my ceramic arrives. I love the matte black finish in indirect lightning, but it gets a bit too bright for my taste in direct sunlight, like while driving. I really wish that had just made it a straight flat/matte black. I think of the two titanium finishes the silver is a better look but less hardy.

Tough call this generation! I really wish Apple had remade the grey ceramic, then it would be a no brainer, I miss my old series 3.

great picture and combo. Does the titanium have a „lip“ like the ceramic?
