Regardless of the tone you are getting from my post, it's just annoying when people are oblivious to/ignore more efficient ways of doing things.

I think it's annoying when people assume that their way is the only correct way to do something. If that were true, then iOS would have these features already. And there wouldn't be an Android, or a Blackberry, or a Windows Phone. OR, one of those would exist, and all the others, including iOS, wouldn't.

But you see, people do things in different ways, and what works for you doesn't always work for others. How you do things is superior for you. But that's not universally the case.

By the way: Assuming that how one person (you) does things is how everyone should do it, is a sign of immaturity. And that's part of what people mean when they say they "grow out of" jailbreaking.

I was going to wait for a jb but the allure of a bigger screen (especially coming from a 4) was too much. I just hope we don't have to wait too long.

Yeah, they've become so integral to my experience I could never go stock

Well, if you are attached to those particular tweaks you listed, you are going to be disappointed, because at some point, they will stop working on newer decides / iOS. So then you will be forced to choose between sticking to older devices so you can keep the tweaks, or upgrading to new iOS / new hardware and getting the new features that come with them. For instance, last year, Apple updated iWorks apps, but they only worked with iOS 7. In order to use the updated iWorks, you had to update to iOS 7, which was still unjailbreakable at that point. Each time I've had to go through this decision making process, it's become more tedious to jailbreak.

If we don't do what you do we're in denial or we just don't know any better.

Uh huh. Sure.

Stop putting words in the OP's mouth. He said nothing even remotely like the strawman that you're arguing against. His post basically said "Here's a list of why I think jailbreaking is good to do. Did you not know about all these great things that jailbreaking can do, or did you know about them and still not choose to jailbreak? And if you knew but chose not to, what made you decide not to jailbreak?"

OP, as an Apple fan who has jailbroken every iPhone I've owned (and my wife's) even I knew that the topic of your thread was going to cause heated discussion.

Those that want to jailbreak post over in the JB forum here on MR. And we deal with all those people over there who come down on us for jailbreaking our phones.

Likewise we shouldn't expect that those who post here are receptive to our ideas and opinions about jailbreaking. We can expect that they won't be very welcoming.

Just as with cases for phones there are two camps here. Those that JB and those that see it as a security and stability issue. Neither camp is going to convice the other that they are wrong.

My point is that just as those who post in OUR area should respect why we jailbreak, we need to respect in THEIR area why they do not jailbreak.

Just my opinion.

Don't want the phone to crash and i lose everything because of a silly JB bug, even though that could happen with vanilla iOS

Simple.
I agreed to the TOS when I got the phone.
This is a violation of the TOS and I am a man of my word. A person is only as good as their word.

Other people may have terrible ethics and don't care about living up to what they agree to.

----------

My point is that just as those who post in OUR area should respect why we jailbreak.

I don't respect anyone who purposely violates a TOS that they agreed to.
Those people don't deserve respect.

I still jailbreak, but now it's only for minor things like f.lux and making my iPhone require a passcode to power off. Over time iOS has added many of the tweaks I used to install.

As for stability issues, I know everyone's experience is different. Personally I've never experienced a super unstable OS after jailbreaking. Then again, I don't install a bunch of tweaks to begin with.

I'm not being snotty it's just annoying when people are oblivious to/ignore blatantly superior ways of doing things.

Your OP asked people "why don't you jailbreak" -- they gave you answers.

You don't seem to have a genuine interest in why others don't jailbreak. You seem far more interested in repeating the same 7 points over and over and simply arguing with people.

Count me in among the oblivious, annoying, and in denial group I guess. :D

I recently purchased an android just to see what all the fuss was about. Needless to say I returned it 3 days later once the novelty wore off.

There are some improvements Apple could make on the phone but for the most part I'm satisfied. To each his own.

The only reason I jailbroke on my 5s was for aesthetic reasons as well as the quick reply to messages. The icons are way too damn big for that size screen. But with the plus, the icons are a lot more balanced and we have quick reply with iOS8 now so I don't think I'll need to jailbreak.

Oh, I also used tethering with my unlimited plan but now that I've switched to mobile sharing with 30GB and tethering, I don't need that either.

I realized a lot of the other tweaks I had, I had just because I could and we're really all that useful.

But to each their own. Just because you find the benefit in jailbreaking doesn't mean someone who doesn't see it as beneficial makes them wrong.

I don't see much of a point to jailbreaking. Can't theme it too much, and arent many helpful tweaks that i need.

Also i don't need any apps i don't already have, or already bought. So i don't see the point.

Which really is pretty sad when you think about it. Mature adults shouldn't give a whit what other people do with their phones. You JB your phones? Have at it and enjoy.

What the OP's original post had little to do with jailbreaking; it was an example of the sheer myopic arrogance some people possess. The inability to conceive of arriving at a different conclusion escapes some people and anyone who chooses differently is viewed as in some way ignorant or unthinking. Fortunately most people grow out of it in their teens, though not all do.

Don't need or want the hassle of jaibreaking. I use this phone for ease of use and uniformity. I certainly don't want another layer of software, upgrades, waiting for next jailbreak to The latest Apple update.

Now this is not a debate, so don't comeback and tell me I am wrong. You asked us why, we tell you. You are no more right than I am.

Ah, reading through some of the random quotes from the OP shows that you're right.

Uh huh. Sure. Totally innocent.

EDIT: I see this was already addressed.

I don't jailbreak because my phone already does what I need it to do.

Finally an answer in this thread I can respect.

I jailbreak for 2 reason.

Security and theming. I like themeing my phone and writing tweaks and going into Photoshop and designing new icons. It's a hobby.

Icaughtupro. This prevents my phone from being turned off on the lock screen. On the lock screen if you try to turn my phone off, a message pops up. Takes your picture then sends the location and picture to my email. This saved my phone in June from a thief who kept trying to turn off my phone and could not.

Why won't apple do that? Ya got me. My parents also lose there phone sometimes and I jail broke there's and installed I caught u pro.

Color profiles. I can calibrate any color screen I want. Blue. Yellow. Pink. Anything just like the old iPhone 4 displays which were the best ever in my opinion.

I hate iOS 7 dock and dots so those are quickly gone.

Tethering tweaks are nice and useful.

Oh and worry about warranty being voided? Simply plug in iPhone. Restore as new. Jailbreak gone. No trace of it ever. Been doing this since 2011 and never had a problem at apple.

Personally I found that the reason I jailbroke, i.e. for the tweaks I could add to iOS, Apple have actually implemented. Stuff like, Personal Hot Spot, message notifications, custom keyboards, notification center type things. Now I just don't see any tweaks that could make me get more out of my phone. If there is something to make Airdrop work on iPad 3 though I'll jailbreak in a heartbeat on it. But on my phone I'll leave as is.
