That said, I'm deeply amused at all the people who say a jailbroken phone is inherently unstable. I've jailbroken on four iOS versions so far, and had no major issues in spite of having a pretty heavily tweaked phone. Contrast that to darling hubby...who has been swearing at his fully updated iOS 8.xx iPhone 5 & iPad Air an awful lot lately. :D

Having a stable, jailbroken iPhone is all a matter of what you put on it. Well known devs within the JB community work hard to ensure their tweaks are as reliable as anything you'd get from the App Store (and more reliable than Apple, lately!) If you don't pirate apps and wait for others to try the newest tweaks first, you probably won't run into any major conflicts and your phone will continue to run smoothly...but with better functionality than Apple designed for it.
LOL. I totally have to agree with you here.

I am IT for my wife and many people I know. My wife's iPhone 5 has been jailbroken for over a year now because she wanted to use an Activator action for the flashlight function. Doing that required being jailbroken. She has a minimal set of tweaks and I generally only install things when I need to or have to. Bridge, Bolt, iFile, etc.

iOS 6.0.1, which is her OS has been rock stable and she's never reported a springboard crash to me. I'm not saying it's never happened, but it's such an infrequent thing it doesn't get mentioned to me. This iPhone of hers has been fine, good battery life and I have never had to take it to Apple for problems.

So, all the way around jailbreaking has been a benefit to her.

Given the OP's refusal to do exactly what you're accusing others of, I think this statement is hilarious. :)

Look, long live your jailbroken iPhones. Glad you love them. I've even helped others jailbreak their iPhones in the past, and jailbroke a phone I sold to someone at their request. But it's just not for me.
Don't take that statement the wrong way as it's not what you suggest. But this thread proves my point.

Most of the responses are from people who don't care for jailbreaking. Whatever their reason for it, this particular forum generally is for those who have no interest in jailbreaking nor any desire to hear about it, much less have it forced on them.

Or am I wrong in that assumption?

Regardless of the tone you are getting from my post, it's just annoying when people are oblivious to/ignore more efficient ways of doing things.

Let people do whatever they want. Seems like you lose sleep over what others do and don't do.

Not exactly a model way to go about life, son.

IFile is reason enough for me to jailbreak.

The small tweaks doesn't slow down iOS.. It's mostly winterboad.

Gridlock would make the larger phones a lot easier to use one handed. And bitesms to quick compose anywhere was really nice.

Oh.. And it would've been really nice if apple made a kill all apps button somewhere..

Anyway.. I can't wait for the iOS 8 JB.

I do not jailbreak becuase I simply like stock iOS. I like the way it runs and I wouldn't want it to slow down by adding anything to it :)

Jailbreaking is a waste of time for the average person - and most have no trouble using iOS as it was designed.

The average person is far better off without jailbreaking. About the only reason I can see to jailbreak is if you want to convert your phone into a portable wifi scanner, because for whatever stupid reasons, Apple won't allow one to be released in the app store.

Also some people use their phones for some work related apps, and many companies have strict policies against jailbroken/rooted phones.

But I do wish Apple would allow a bit more open access for apps that qualify for the app store.

I used to jailbreak and then on a trip to DC my phone battery died (multiple cancelled flights) got to my hotel and couldn't get my phone to boot because it required tethering to my laptop to boot. Decided then and there that I'd never do it again.

I'm not at all trying to sound condescending, nor am I talking to anyone specifically, but I'll never jailbreak again because I'm not 18 anymore and have much better things to do than to spend what little free time I have ****ing around on a buggy phone when the proprietary hardware is far better and already does more than I could want. Installing a jailbreak is such a faceless, spastic experience, and it shows every day you use it and only gets worse with time.

I've never jailbroken, don't care enough to do it.

But I do think the OP needs to work on their communication skills.
They essentially ask why people don't do what they decide to do, giving a laundry list of reasons, then when people who don't jailbreak say they don't care about that laundry list, the OP, rather than just accepting that reason, says they are wrong.

Wrong for what? Not needing one swipe to replace three? Because that's a major life issue?

Relax, now, TH55. Relax. It's JUST A PHONE.

From what I understand Zephyr hasn't worked since iOS 6. Ever since control center came out in iOS 7 the tweak was killed. Guess iOS 7/8 users could still use Activator though to get some gestures they want.

Thanks for the heads up on your other JB tweaks though, I'll have to check them out :)
Multitasking Gestures was written a while back, works exactly the same as Zephyr. And you're welcome.

That's ok. It doesn't change at all the respect I have for your opinion.

Don't flatter yourself

I don't care what a dishonest and unethical person thinks of my opinion.

People like you and your dishonest breatheren on Wall Street and big business are screwing up this country.

To each there own... 18+ need not apply based on your assumptions lol... Ok!

For some people, it wouldn't.

My husband is a perfect case in point: I can show him any cool tweak on my jailbroken iPhone. He smiles, nods, and says he doesn't need it--and then it's suddenly cool and amazing two years later when Apple incorporates a less useful version of it into their firmware. Hell, he doesn't use half the functionality on the stock iOS. He also likes being able to update whenever Apple tells him to. (He does this on the iMac too...which is why I have a separate computer.) In his mind, iOS "just works" as is, even when it doesn't, and he doesn't really notice the things that drive me nuts about it. I stopped trying to reason with him about it years ago.

My point exactly, thank you. That's fine if people choose not to jailbreak, but to deny that there are objective advantages is being dishonest. Saying one doesn't care enough to mess with it is also perfectly fine, but that's not what I'm getting here.

Jb doesn't slow your phone down. maybe back in 2009.

Why do you care? I don't because I just don't want too.

I thought this was interesting

To me, I rather have the security. I also just don't care about jailbreaking, but or you, go for it and have fun.
What security does IOS 8 give you? I can easily steal your phone and shut it off and you have no way of ever finding it or tracking it. Jail breaking gives you an INSANE amount of security, like preventing the phone from being turned off on the lock screen.

My 60 year old dad JB his phone just for that tweak. Nothing else.

I sure hope this response about people jailbreaking was simply sarcasm, hard to tell on this forum with crazy members that would actually post stuff like this and be serious...

I won't deny there are a few conveniences offered by jailbreaking. On the other hand, there are conveniences offered by not jailbreaking. For example, phone call and SMS continuity between my phone and computer are huge features for me (and as far as I know there's nothing to replicate that functionality in jailbroken iOS7). Nothing I've seen offered in Cydia is worth almost continuously waiting for the jailbreak community to support the latest version of iOS (particularly as I really enjoy running the iOS betas every summer).

I stopped Jailbreaking a while ago as couldn't be bothered waiting for later versions of iOS to be supported. I'd rather upgrade to the latest version of iOS without worry.

Sure, jailbreaking might give me some nice tweaks but Apple have done a pretty decent job as it is and at the end of the day it's just a phone.

Apple have addressed the 4 reasons i ever had for JB my phone

Custom wallpapers, rearranging icons, batt status, and sim unlocking.

Since these i've had zero use for it. Plus i like updating my software without needing to worry about whether or not a JB is out for it and/or whether i'll brick my phone.

This thread is pointless....

this is like asking people why you they get iphone 6 instead of 6 plus. or why someone buy a Honda not Toyota.
