No regrets. I had a 32gb iPad 1 and never filled even a quarter of it. Upgraded to iPad 2 and bought the 16gb. I don't use it for music, for videos I stream Netfix, use Home sharing for iTunes content, or if I'm traveling I might sync a few movies onto it.

If you're going to get lots of games, fly often (and want lots of ready to view movies) or want to use it for music then more memory is good, but for my needs 16gb is fine

^^
+1

Pics n music I keep on my iPhone usually bc it's more on the go with me than the iPad is. I also stream music or movies to the iPad. But only store movies when im traveling. The only thing that gets filled on mine is apps for the most part .. Few pics n short vids taken with it.. I have everything I would want on it. And I'm at about 10gb.. Heck I have a 64gb MBA that still has 25 gb available and everything I want is on there just little extra stuff on my external hd...

But with these items iPhone, iPad, MBA.. Im also the type to upgrade when a newer version comes out.. So this would get very costly with the top model of everything.. ESPECIALLY if that extra stuff is not being used.

Look at what works FOR YOU and roll with it. And If it's not what you thought you'll know for next time..

i have a 32gb ip4 so i don't mind having a 16gb ipad...i would rather save 100 bucks and just not put my entire itunes library on it...i mean honestly who listens to all 2000 songs at the same time?:D

Is it just me or is someone going through and giving a thumbs down to every post that says 16GB is enough? (I gave them a thumbs up to negate it ;))

It's all about usage - for some, 16Gb or more than adequate and little or no media storage is required.

Personally, I regularly travel for weeks at a time (for both business and pleasure) and 64Gb is not enough. That will unfortunately probably see me turning to an Android or WinPhone handset when my current iPhone contract expires and (32Gb iPhone 4 has 6Gb free at the moment after 320kps music collection, movies/tv episodes for watching while in the gym etc) and as I've just sold my iPad 1 64Gb, I will most likely replace it with something that has expension capability.

It's probably unrealistic to expect Apple to change their policy on expandability anytime soon which is a real shame as, otherwise, I cannot fault their products.

I've had my 16gb ipad2 for a couple of months now and i'm only using around 20% of the storage. I stream all my music and movies from my main computer and on the rare occasions when i'm out of town for a while there is more than enough space for taking some music and movies.

For my needs, anything but the base model is complete overkill and a waste of money.

i based my purchase on having owned an iphone since it's inception. ive always opted for the largest capacity available and i currently have a 32GB iPhone 4.

i finally bought an ipad, going for the 16GB wifi version based on my iphone usage... after 7 months with the iphone, out of 29GB free, i've consumed 11GB of that, and 8GB of that is music. i had decided before purchase that the ipad wouldnt have any music on it (until they release a 128GB version, my 70+GB collection will stay on the macbook air or in the cloud with iCloud, if the rumors pan out). so that left me with 3GB of space being consumed on the ipad if i were to have the equivalent apps on it.

i transfer movies as i need them and rarely keep large media on the device once ive watched them, and i stream most of it anyways.

plus i never leave home without the iphone... tethering for iphone on at&t doubles my allotment to 4GB for only $20 a month, so $5 cheaper than to maintain a separate account on the ipad. plus it's shared so i can use as much as i want on either device. tethering using bluetooth also tends to use less power in my case and unlike wifi, i can connect the ipad without having to manipulate both devices.

it was after all of those considerations that convinced me that the entry-level ipad was all i needed, but i had budgeted enough to cover the 64GB 3G version just in case i got last minute penis envy.

Base model is fine. I think many people are in the same situation I am. We have iPods or iPhones that already have all of our music. You aren't going to walk down the street with the iPad in your hand listening to music. You might watch a movie (or in my case) read PDFs on it, but those can be transferred as needed. I am perfectly happy with the 16GB and anything more would be a waste. Somewhat counterintuitively, when it comes to the iPod or iPhone, though, I need more :)

sorta regret

its not the movies for me - it's suprisingly the music

i use the djay app and i try to keep a large library on hand since i cant stream it :):eek::eek::eek:

so i dont have much space.

movies i use air video

I ended up getting the 16GB had bad backlight bleed so now I'm returning and going to plunge for the 32GB after messing with it.

There's too many cool apps and stuff to have.....also agree about the music it's almost like iTunes with the iPod app love listening to stuff on this thing. Good chunk of my music collection at my fingertips. ;)

Not so far. I don't keep much video on it - keep it on dropbox and only have what I'm currently watching on the iPad itself. So far plenty of room for apps and ebooks. I don't really keep music on it, either.
