I don't know, generation Z or whatever those twits are called, might be into this. For me in X, if someone said meet me at the Apple Store I'd be thinking they're waiting to get their iPhone fixed as genius appointments are never on time.

We have a redesigned store and it's too bright. Never enough Genius's on and over all the majority of the people would rather have the smaller store back.

This must be hype because after the last release of (MBP's) they want more money

"Meet at Apple" seems asinine on so many levels. Especially in an age where people aren't going out to socialize as much as they're staying in and using social media.

And Angela should realize this as Apple has FaceTime. Stick to making products Apple.

I think the how-to classes are useful and a nice way to meet similarly employed/tasked others, but not in an open-floor plan. There needs to be a sound-insulated space. Otherwise, there’s too much background noise and distractions. The headphones solution was cumbersome.

As for meeting at an Apple store to socialize, that’s a ridiculous notion. Our Apple store is like the crowded DMV—a long queue of people waiting for the Genuis Bar. It’s not a relaxing or energizing environment.

And you didn't read a word of the article.

I watched the entire eight minute segment. Angela's vision for Apple Retail as presented in the interview doesn't seem to make much sense -- particularly in light of the fact that more and more people are favoring online shopping over going to malls. Maybe she'll prove the naysayers wrong. Time will tell.

Meet at Apple, yeah right, unless they are serving Chai Latte's that's not happening. Sterile tall tables with hard lines really doesn't say come and hang out. Not to mention the din, every Apple store I go into has the dull roar of voices.
Good luck with that, but Apple has courage!

this is what makes apple great.

That's what we used to say when new Macs and other innovative devices were introduced. Guess I'm getting old. I can't get excited about some hack trying to tell me how to take a picture while weaving in how the iPhone 9sx+ Pro is all a person needs to be the next Ansel Adams.

"Did you see what's going on at Apple today?" - nothing

But the pipeline is full of great products that we're all really excited about.

What is sad is that she is suppose to be the elite of the Corporate World. Timmy pays her 10 Million a year, for her to speak jibberish and nonsense.

I miss Steve! It's like the village idiots are now running Apple

I laughed hard on that one! So sad because it's so true what you say.
[doublepost=1493160766][/doublepost]
Do people think calling Tim Cook Timmy is clever or something. The comments section on BGR has a higher quality of discussion than this place these days. Sad.

THAT is not true! You couldn't be more wrong than wrong itself. BGR brings a bunch of bickering, childish name calling with cursing in it. They have an anything goes with no filtering comment section. It is the up-most childish site I have ever read. So I do not understand how you can even say that.

this is what makes apple great.

You do realize this was done LONG before right at Apple Store's since their inception.

Then somehow the mindless window shoppers flooded the stores. So in come Burberry exec thinks oh well we need to re-invigorate the brand with all this fancy talk ... yet Apple does NOT suffer Brand Name recognition, brand name trust, brand name allegiance! Nothing failed before she came on board. And nothing really gained since then.

1st there is NO space in Apple stores to support training:
Eatons,
Yorkdale,
etc - every store in Toronto doesn't have space.
Wait a minute the main flagship store in Eaton's is smaller than the one at Yorkdale Mall, or even Fairview Mall.

something is already given before this idea takes hold.

Angela,

no gen Z is going to say "meet me at Apple" cause there is No Space. They're going to say "meet me in front of Apple or near the Apple store just like gen Y kids now say. lol.

PS: Video's are not available north of the 49th parellel.

Wait...what? Who prefers to be crowded into a cattle bus instead of having room to move around and breath without feeling everyone is on top of you?

At our mall they moved the tiny narrow and deep Apple store into a much needed more spacious store in the mall. It is so much more convenient to get in and out of there without feeling claustrophobic. I would say it is much nicer than their older store, it's very well done. I didn't see a Genius bar in this new one and don't know where the computers were either as they rows and rows of tables full of their iPhones, iPads, and watches on them.

And that's the thing with Apple today... what they lack in product and product ideas they make up for in coming up with new grandiosa ideas on how to bring people to Apple - by selling The Apple instead of selling Apple products. That's only going to get you so far.

Utter BS. Profits aside (almost all on iDevices), Apple is at a crossroads. And this just makes it worse. Apple needs to spin it's computer division off to a dedicated team or maybe a different company. Because the current situation is frightful. And Yes, I know they are making money, so don't even go there. But take away the iDevices and what is it then. But I know that no-one under the age of 30 even knows what "Apple" is. "It's the company that makes the cool phones and watches."
Flame on, fine.

Last time I was in an Apple(name of city here), it was crowded. Crowed with kids & teens that hang out at the mall. I even observed one teen that went to the phone display, unplugged one of the phones and plugged his in to charge. Great use of the display space.
The updated stores have a 'Genius Grove'. Maybe I could get some orange juice?
Oh, I guess I might go to a store to look if there was anything new, except an overpriced laptop, some dongles and watchbands.
Don't get me wrong, I still have my Apple IIe and am still coveting my 2012 Mac Mini, but Tim & crew have been milking the cow way too long.

Not so sure about this strategy. My kids and I are shedding most of our Apple devices after much disappointment. iMac gone bad; iPads that take three touches to get a response; lame Siri; slow iPhones, dead Macbooks. Timmy needs to spend more time on products and less time at galas and marches.

Very interested to see what the Surface Pro 5 will look like. Already dumped my Series 2 watch on CL and went with Fitbit (much better for what I need). Selling my iPad Pro (old AT&T unlimited data plan included) when the MS Pro 5 is released. Our iMac is dead, and my 30yr old MBPro is on its last legs. Phase out time for sure. Apple has gone junk on me. Used to be a fan.

I personally think this is great. Although nearly everyone on this site nowadays is negative as can be, I think this is a good program. I, for one, think that attending a class on how to use GarageBand/Logic Pro to make music or iMovie/FCPX to make a movie or Xcode to write code would be awesome. It shows Apple products in action and what they can be used to create. Plus, you get to learn something that's not just strictly on a computer, such as basic art technique or how to write a beat to a song. I really don't see how anyone can view this as a negative thing.

Not sure what that has to do with anything. Smart phone zombies are not isolated to any particular brand or OS. We are talking about people learning stuff vs idly wasting time playing games.

It has to do with: "smart" devices (tables, mobiles) -- indeed, irrespective of OS and brand -- are not good learning tools, they do not make people "smart" or creative.
Why do you think Steve Jobs did not let his children use iPads?
Do you think the next Steve Wozniak will learn his electronics skills by tapping on an iPad (or Samsung Tab, or LG, or ...)?
Compare and contrast the first Apple computers with the iPad. One requires skill and creativity to build and use, the other one... not so much.
"Smart" devices are creativity (and attention span, and social skills, and ...) killers.

I really wouldn't think that posts on here are really that negative, but are venting frustration. IMHO, Angela is an overpaid fashion shill. I believe it was Ive that has been responsible for much of the redesign of the Apple (insert city/town here). Her inability to utter coherent sentences is driving many of us mad.The last time I was in an Apple (whatever), the team members didn't even have name badges.

Apple had classes before this and she is just reinventing the wheel to make it look like she can justify her salary.
Sure, great, that there can be classes for Garageband and the like, but they mention photography and let's be honest, photos is far from any style or type of a professional photography app. Abandoning Aperature, to me, was a huge mistake.
If I really want to learn any of these programs, there are many tutorials on line that you can utilize in the comfort of your home, instead of Apple trying to lure you into a 'store' with hopes that you might purchase an outdated and/or overpriced products.

It nice to be positive, but let's be realistic here. Until Apple comes back out with hardware similar to the original G5 that is upgradable and can be customized to one's needs, with pro software to match, they are becoming just a generic appliance dealer.

"Meet me at Apple", and comparing it to Starbucks, is just... insane. Does she really not understand why and how Starbucks made that work? Hint: it's a COFFEE SHOP.

Apple are delusional.

I was excited about Angela joining Apple, but man, I just don't get this vision. The only way I'm meeting at Apple like I meet at Starbucks is if there is a Starbucks inside Apple.

That would be a pain in the ass, right? Going to the mall, parking at the mall, and walking into the mall, just for coffee and a place to sit?

Why not just go to Starbucks?

"Video is available in the United States only"
This is what sucks about rights holders.
Why is an Apple video restricted?
