Tom Cruise is heading down the same road to freakoville as Michael Jackson.restless~native said:I don't know much about Scientology....so I won't go there....but I still have to say Tom Cruise is annoying. Don't know if that's a direct correlation to Scientology or his personality.
Speaking of which, love the rout you've gone , that is you in your avatar right??Sun Baked said:Tom Cruise is heading down the same road to freakoville as Michael Jackson.
When you have an entourage around you to insulate yourself from the rest of the world, and invite people to live in that world with you.
Are you living in the real world? or the fantasy that has been created?
Plus he is starting to show that he no longer wants to be near us. Lest we drag him away from salvation.
Can't wait for Tom Cruise to start going the plastic surgery route to turn himself into an alien.
jared_kipe said:You can call it what you like, but there are huge differences between christianity and scientology. You'd be better to compare it to Mormonism (LDS), in actuality they believe some really ridiculous stuff to and require you to give them money. Does this mean I'm intollerent of greedy people who feed off the suffering of the world? Guess so. (I'm buddhist by the way)
kuyu said:Name one "religion" that charges $600,000 to help you reach "God." Scientologists are told to cut-off contact with anyone who isn't "crossing the bridge."
Odd it won't let me PM you, so I emailed you.Les Kern said:Ah, a buddhist. I admire the belief greatly. My good buddy is one and he shares the teachings with me. It's cool until they speak of coming back in another life. "Never make money in such a way that it hurts others". VERY good stuff to live by dude.
As for Christianity, Buddhism, Mormonism and Scientology... my whole point was that whatever the belief, it's really none of anyone else's business. Whether I believe that Christianity is based on the warping of something that happened 2000 years ago, that Mormonism was based on the beliefs of an insane man and that Scientology is just weird, is not and should not be an issue to anyone else but the folks who follow it.
There is such a physiological problems that require medication to correct the imbalances. Drugs are not good in the long haul because of the body's persistent nature in self correcting. A good example would be opiate abuse. Your body will start to produce less endorphins in an attempt to keep the levels constant. This effectively makes the person addicted to the opiate because if they stop taking it they literally get sick.Italian Artist said:I think that the fact that there even has to be a discussion about this is ridiculous. The fact of the matter is, drugs do not help directly, as they "say" they do. Why do drugs have side effects? Because they have residual effects that later affect your body and your ability to think clearly. No drug whatsoever is good for the long run. Now, I am not shooting down things like anti-biotics, because, if necessary, you may require thos for the time being.
More towards the Tom Cruise interview, I think it was brilliant of Tom to speak out like that. Anti-depressants are some of the worst drugs you can take, and they sure as hell do not help anyone. Cruise is basically getting tired of the crap, the irresponsibility that's going about in the society today, and he decided to let it out. Good for you, Tom. Matt, read up on psychiatry...
Glib implies the ability to parrot (tell of something or explain something exactly as you heard it from somewhere else) something, but not apply it. It's a sort of dilletante view of things, and in Lauer's case, glib is right. Not to call him an idiot, but he is simply repeating the propaganda he hears in the society. He doesn't actually know about psychiatry, drugs, and the effects of drugs - and if he did, he'd be with Cruise on the whole scene.
Before you begin to shoot Tom off, read up a little bit on psychiatry, drugs etc. And I don't just mean what everybody feeds you. Go a little bit past that, past the social veneer of it, then you'll see.

Yeah, you actually might want to dust of that old copy of Dianetics, and you might actually want to read it. Give you some information. And if you did read it and didn't get it, make sure to clear and misunderstood words you have in the book, because that is the result of your non-understanding.Sun Baked said:Time to dust off that copy of Dianetics.![]()

Now there are psychological and physiological things that will do any number of things to your naturally produced neurochemicals, many of which can be corrected with drugs. They are not necessarily weak, they suffer from something they cannot control on their own. You could get in a car wreck, and have to take pain medications and BAM addicted to pain pills. THEN would you be saying how psycho-pharmasuticals are bogus loads of crap? I'm not so sure. Will you please credit your sources on the matter? http://home.blarg.net/~charlatn/depression/DepMeds.html
Glanced through, are you aware that there are no lasting side effects to almost any drug? Oh and that your body clenses itself in a day or two of almost anything?Italian Artist said:Don't misunderstand me, I don't think that all drugs are bad, I've already said that. However, if you begin to take drugs, firstly, they will have lasting effects, as the "residues" of the drugs will stay with you and can affect you later in life, even though you are not using the drug. Secondly, yes, if you begin to use pain medications too much, you will become hooked on them, whether or not you need them. And I don't need a reference to prove my point about that, just root through some old news stories and headlines...

I would suggest finding more credible material for your "understanding" of psychiatry, like the Journal of the American Medical Association. Of course, I could be wrong... after all, celebrities know what they're talking about. So what if an entire field of medical science declares the guy a charlatan. Not to mention... behind the "social veneer" is a vast pharmaceutical conspiracy to undermine the power of Xenu.
