Since the iPhone is an Apple product, why, yes, it is.

Well, for those of us who could give a crap about anti-iPhone opinions like yours, threads like this are monotonous. If you don't like it, Google can help you find plenty of other sites to browse.

If you find it monotonous...then why are you reading and replying to it? You should follow your own advice and ignore it for other, more interesting threads. I'm a reader here, just like you....the site owners can see my opinion and choose to ignore it or not. My opinion is, the hardware stories on the iphone and it's multifinger interface are somewhat interesting, but I could care that "Bolshoi Wireless has exclusive marketing rights to the 3G pink iphone in Lithuania"...there's a tab for the iphone stories, put that kind of story on that tab...people interested in the iphone are smart enough to figure out it's there.

PS....at least there's a new story about a 10.5.3 developer seed :D

It's still called Mac Rumors.

Disney World... Did they really buy a whole planet?
Microsoft. Are they that small?
iPod? Didn't the i denote that it was for the internet, something the iPod has only got with the Touch?
Vacuum cleaner? Does it really clean vacuums?
If iLife crashes does that mean death?
Virgin Trains. Trains for those who have never engaged in coitus?
Automobile. Car, drive me from A to B!

Yey for pedantics.

I'm sick and tired of the iphone - it seems like most of stuff here is iphone anymore. I could care less about it and am tired of all the rumors. Whatever happened to apple COMPUTER company.

Yah, I know. But phones are toys, and I use my machines for work.

flame away, that's my $0.02 and quite frankly I'm coming here a lot less because of all the iphone hoopla constantly.

as has been stated numerous times, its just whats news, if the computer's were generating rumors and news you'd be hearing about it too.

The iPhone is a computer.

Yah and so is my toaster, since it has a logic board inside.

If you can't process multi-layer TIFF files in photoshop on it, it's not a real computer. Playing a few games, checking a calendar, and surfing the web doesn't make it any less of a toy.

Your opinion does not equal fact. I'm not sure you're serious, but I'll play along and assume you are. According to your standard, the computer wasn't invented until what - the mid-nineties?

Oh by the way, you might find this to be interesting reading.

That definition applies today, not back then. The calculator watch would be those day's equivalent to today's iphone - cool, but not a computer.

My statement was 1/2 TIC, but the underlying point I'm serious about - maybe I'm too much like "PC" in the commercials, but I expect my computer and computer company to do something productive, not just be a fun waste of time.

My mac pro is very productive, all the time spent on iphone obsessions is not.

this is all just my opinion, and I don't fault anyone for enjoying their phone, but to me it's a huge waste of time. I think the same thing of all the young folks walking around texting each other constantly.

I'm 100% old fogey material, I guess

There ought to be a sticky on this subject. Fact is, if Apple wasn't making the iPhone it'd be making something else - possibly newfangled Macs - and there would be rumours about that.

I used to be pissed off as well but now I consider that:

1) an iPhone is really a mobile computer that makes phone calls;
2) I'll be able to get one next month. :p

Too much iPhone on "Mac" rumors?

Am I the only one here that is getting a little bored with the total obsession with the iPhone on the main site. I liked the days when I could get Mac news and rumors trickling through my RSS reader; I'd see that little 1 next to the Mac Rumors item and think "wow, some tasty Mac news", but now all I get is iPhone.

Are we going to separate this at any stage? I mean, if you want pure iPhone news, you can just go to the tab.

(posted from an iPhone ;) )

Right now you are seeing a high distribution then normal of iPhone stories because of its impending release...

Also, the iPhone right now is a big part of Apple...which is why it gets a lot of face time.

Most over hyped gadget of the century in my opinion. Apparently there are some people, I assume with no life, queueing for the thing at the moment. That's 6 days before release. And its just a revision, not like its a brand new product. Just stroll into a store the next day or order on line. Is have it a 15 minutes before everyone else really that important?

When this site started, all there were was Macs. No iPod. No iPhone.

Exactly.

"iPhone runs OS X." - Steve Jobs
Good point.

Personally, I enjoy the excitement of a new product release/major upgrade.

Fun times! :)

I think it's one of the best times to be involved with everything Mac. Though I have two iPhones activated that I use daily, I won't be getting a new iPhone anytime soon, perhaps in a few months. It still is nice to hear all the latest news on everything that I am interested in and MacRumors does the best job out of any other Mac site/forums.

Someday the iPhone is going to be a thing of the past and we are going to be laughing that we ever said this. :p

Any ways, I believe that if you think there are too much iPhone stuff here, don't look at the iPhone stuff. There's a reason the iPhone has its own seperate forums/news section. ;)

Set your preferences in the Forum Spy to NOT include the iPhone Forum and it will seem like there is a LOT more of other news that iPhone. I did it with another.

From any MR page: User CP>Edit Options>Thread Display Options>Exclude Forums.

Best advice right there. I have no need or desire for an iPhone, but happy Apple is doing it, helps advance the company as a whole.

should macrumors.com be renamed to iPhonerumors.com?

Talk about riding the hype wave. Everything iPhone related is moved up on the homepage. And obviously the site owner is mainly interested in iPhone at this time. This is a shame. The rest of Mac users...we are left out.

Bring on the next Mac computer with quality flaws...no one will notice.

And five years ago folks were griping that it should be called ipodrumors.com. Like it or not, the iPhone is the first major product from Apple in a long time, and will garner a large share of attention until it matures.

You can always exclude iPhone-related topics from your forum search, and ignore the iPhone news.
