Like iGary, my initial numbers (early in my time here) were inflated on working from home. I am sure that if I still worked from home that I would probably beat out iGary. Sure that Dr. Q will correct me if I am wrong.
In the end I post because I like the quality of discussion here on MR. There are only two other groups that I contribute, but maybe not more than 10 postings between them a month.
Reason? There is a life that goes on here on MR. And the mods are the other reason. No crap is allowed to go on.

Well, I for one am quite glad that you spend time with us Chip NoVaMac- you are a great guy to chat with.
And you are absolutely right, the mods do an awesome job making sure that MR is a great place to spend time at.

Sometimes when you look at the likes of the persona's (sp?) of the likes of iGary and BlueVelvet - the likes of you and I pale in comparison perhaps. I have your avatar in my lookout in scanning threads, because I value what you have to say, in what ever forum.

While there are occasionally mammoth threads sent to the wasteland, in which people lose 10's (if not 100's) of posts, many wastelanded threads are the result of spam or other nonsensical things created by people who register simply to post that kind of crap and as such contain only 1 or 2 posts.Macmaniac said:

Yes, and unfortunately sometimes it causes members (rightly or wrongly) to take offence to it. I can think of 2 long-standing members who left MacRumors as a result of certain threads getting wastelanded, although one has come back since...
If a thread is good and maintains its focus and "integrity" for lack of a better term, but becomes outdated or finished with, it will simply be closed, not wastelanded, in which case posts are not lost. If a thread is wastelanded, it's for a good reason.
So I haven't read ALL the posts in this thread, but is there a way to find out the average post rate of people based on when they actually started posting? I, for one, didn't start posting until almost a year after joining so my daily post rate is rather low.
