Probably not, although it would be an interesting stat to see. I lurked for a while before I started posting as well, so, scaringly enough, my posts/day should proabably be even higher! ;)
Well, you seem to be doing pretty well in this thread alone. Well over 10% of all posts here. ;)

So I haven't read ALL the posts in this thread, but is there a way to find out the average post rate of people based on when they actually started posting?
I think that would be a difficult stat to gather. Actually, if one could determine the actual number of days or hours a member was logged on to MR, then calculate a posts per active hour, that might be more telling.

For example:

My post count = 6262

My join date = 08/02/2004

Total days = 703

Posts per day = 8.91

However, of those days, I probably only post, on average, 4 days a week, since I travel and seldom log on during the weekends. Also, on those days, I'm probably logged on about 5 hours a day.

Which means:

Active MR Hours = 2008 (a part-time job!)

Posts/AMRH = 3.12

So essentially, every hour I'm logged on to MR, I post 3 times.

Yeah same here. I lurked for quite a while and even after I registered, I only really started posting frequently maybe 10 months ago.

Sigh... oh, well. If only we'd started posting from day one at the same rate as now. We may actually have a chance at overtaking MJ! :D

I wonder what quality my own posts are, according to everyone else.

You know, I really need to post here more often. This community still rocks as much as it did at the height of my posting activity. :D

Yeah, I seem to have a habit of doing that. ;) You should see my stats in some other threads though - it's far, far worse....

How did you do that? that is a really cool feature! I want to know the powers!
Anyone can do it - click on the linked number under "Replies" in the thread listing. It will show you a breakdown of who has posted in that thread.

Griddle Pr0n upon return, please.

A-OK. If I had a phone with a camera.. pictures too.

In fact.. I want a new phone.. why don't I stop by Alltel on the way to Cracker Barrel #345 and get one?
Perhaps tell them where to shove the old one?

It's a plan.

Done and done. In the Contrib-forums.

Since even I was loathe to do such off-topic dragging as I am typically capable of (and willing to) do.

:D

So you are a number cruncher as well emw- nice statistics. :)

Informed, but sporadic. However, you were one of the more prolific posters when I first joined.

Like many many others, I lurked for about a year.

I've got my new formulas in place and I've been working on the End of Time projections all evening. My largest spreadsheet is now over 200 rows and over 50 columns (that's 10,000 cells!) and I've had to cool my CPU by trucking in liquid nitrogen and buying popsicles. (The popsicles are for me.)

[teaser]The biggest excitement has been the competition for the #9 spot on the End of Time Top 50 List. Stay tuned.[/teaser]

I hope to finish my analysis and post the results tomorrow evening. Publish or perish, as they say.
