Just because AT&T has to call us back doesn't mean any good will come of it. They will just say its now policy to throttle data for the top 5%.

Actually, AT&T has to respond in writing within 45 days from the time that the complaint is filed. This was probably just a courtesy call letting you know that they received the complaint.

You have all of the credibility of a braying ass. Shut up and get out of the thread if you don't like it. It befuddles me that someone would have such a strong objection to people complaining about a shady business practice yet that same person would frequent a forum where that shady business practice was the topic of discussion. I may very well switch carriers, it's really none of your business, right now I'm collaborating with like-minded individuals to see if we can correct a poor decision by ATT. All you have to do if you don't like it is stay out of this forum. You might be missing out on a forum more suited to you, like "Just found out I'm a huge *******, what should I do?"

No YOU SHUT UP!!! You are the one with zero credibility and your post speaks for that. These AT&T threads are pointless on an iPhone forum. Which part of that don't YOU GET? If you switch carriers that's none of my business? Absolutely correct, however, when you post it on a public forum it becomes my business and everyone else's. Maybe you missed that part of the equation.

Don't be mad because you have no argument. Once again I have to type this for the reading impaired like yourself... but here goes... AT&T has always stated in their terms and conditions then can change them no matter what and speeds are not promised. So go take your b******* to the AT&T forums where this thread would be very relevant and only add to the dozen threads on this over there.

Has anyone called AT&T and had the throttling removed?

I was told by AT&T that this isn't possible. The throttling is automatically put on by a "computer" and they don't have the ability to remove the throttling from individual phones. Just what I was told, no clue if it's true or not.

I'm only 11 days intO my billing cycle and throttled, but on the 1st day my billing cycle starts next month I'm going to call them up if I'm still throttled and have them remove it. But that's if I'm still throttled

I wonder if the will prorate my bill and give me the 20 unlimited edge plan because I pay for 3G speeds not edge. My edge and 3G speeds are exactly the same. Why should u pay for 3G if I'm not going to be receiving it for 2/3 of the month.

I just got off the phone with customer relations, they handle customers who want to cancel service. I was calm, polite and told them I wanted to cancel service and explained why. They gave me the unlimited messaging plan ,thats 20 dollars, for 10 dollars. And I will be getting a 10 dollar credit on my account as long as I have at&t. Only thing was that I had to switch to the 5gb tether plan. I have never gone over 4gb even tethering with my iPhone 4 and I use even less now with my 4S so I can live with this, plus I'm not seeing an increase on my bill. Im happy!!

This thread was intended to make customers aware that there may be possible policy violations against AT&T that the Federal Communications Commission would have jurisdiction over.

A cancellation clause would suggest that one party in two party contract has overriding authority. In which case, it is not a legal or binding contract to begin with.

Aside from that, this thread was intended to make customers aware that there may be possible policy violations against AT&T that the Federal Communications Commission would have jurisdiction over.

This thread and all the other million threads on this issue here. Have fun fighting it!!!!

Isn't 5gb more than unlimited?

?? Unlimited is supposed to be infinite....5gb isn't more. I had the unlimited data plan but now Im on the 50 dollar 5gb tether plan. But my message plan got dropped to 10 dollars and Im getting a 10 credit on my account for the life of my account. That offsets the 20 jump from 30 dollars to 50 dollars.

I'm certainly having fun fighting it.

I think people would be a lot less ticked off if the throttled speed weren't almost dangerous. If it were, say, 200kbs, which is EDGE speed, people might be OK, but 0.5kbps? That's dial up.

If you are using the average GPS program, it could mean you lose your map. Not cool

I have never been throttled (yet), but I fear it will come eventually. I'm at 2.3GB so far this month with 8 days left. I generally use 3-4 GB...mostly Rdio and Stitcher while in the car.

Bravo, it's really odd how people like Matt come in here and accuse everyone discussing AT&T's horrid business practices of being "kids who don't even pay their bills".

With his immaturity and attitude, I suspect he is projecting.

Yes, that must be it. The fact that I understand something that's in writing. Wow what an idiot I am.

I think the greater good is that people are gaining an insight into AT&T's business practices.

I think the greater good is that people are gaining an insight into AT&T's business practices. This Bait & Switch mentality will have consequences and repercussions.

Where was the bait and switch?

Once again...

The original contract flat out stated that they can change the terms so long as they give sufficient notice and let customers walk without an ETF if they don't agree to the new terms. That was in the original contract that everyone read and signed anyway. No bait or switch there.

As far as serious repercussions... please. AT&T has stated time and again that they're doing it so the other 95% of their customers, those who are not abusing the network, can receive better service and lower prices- a story that the majority of mainstream news and media are pushing.

I'm still waiting for you to answer my story problem. Are those cookies getting cold and that milk getting warm yet?

...and what story problem would that be?

I thought you claimed to be a big reader of Company Policies? You mean to tell me that you haven't even read this thread entirely?

I never claimed that and while I've read it, I haven't memorized it. Like others, I'm simply entertained by the foolishness presented here - notably by you, your name calling and pretentious attitude.

When the throttling was first announced, I was one of the first here to condemn AT&T and warn people that they would end up throttling at or below the 2GB point. Many didn't believe it and the threads died down. Now, all of a sudden, people are becoming throttled to ludicrously low speeds after minimal data usage and are complaining.

The writing was there, and while AT&T wasn't morally right when they announced it, they did give enough warning and time for people to move on. At this point, it's not AT&T's fault or problem if people chose to risk it and stayed.

So you were the first to condemn it, but now you're backing it? That tells me a lot about your thought process.

Where did I say I was backing it?

There's just a big difference between condemning them for moral reasons and knowing when they're in the right legally. Rather than whine, complain, or threaten them with meaningless lawsuits or the FCC, I simply took my smartphone plan elsewhere and urge others to do the same.
