I haven't found what you are saying about 3D touch. Maybe your phone has to be looked at it you might be pressing lightly thinking your pressing heavily.
3D Touch recognizes "Peek" and "Pop" press. The first one works just good with light pressure. When you want the "Pop" function you have to really press hard, not just increase pressure, which is not comfortable for me, that's why I don't use it.

I do not find a really hard press is needed. A small increase in pressure works fine for me. I suggest bringing the phone into Apple to have it checked out. I'm assuming we're not having a semantically oriented discussion of "one persons easy press is another persons hard press"?

I'm actually surprised not a lot of people find this annoying. Music stops every time I turn on the camera in photo mode with Live Photos off. My life would be so much better without Live Photos.

Dam, that is a bit annoying, so you're listening to your music and you want to take a photo and it stops the music. I wonder is this for a reason or was it something that was just overlooked? Again something Apple needs to address. They do have some strange ways of doing things don't they.

Live Photos capture audio. So It turns off music so that your Live photo isn't filled with whatever music you were playing. It also turns off the shutter sound for the same reason. Because who wants to have Live Photos with the stupid shutter sound in every single one of them.

It's not something "they need to address". It's a small detail they smartly added.

I find if i slide my thumb from top of the home button to the bottom, with giving it a quick press in the process, i don't get pushed into the operating system, which works for me. I do like how fast it is though :)

Id just like to be able to see these notifications AFTER turning the phone on..many now are no longer available other than on the lock screen.

Just swipe down from the top and touch Notifications. They should all be right there.

Unless, of course, your kid was jammin' to your beats, and you wanted to take a picture of them...

Overall, I think it makes sense to shut off the music.

Only problem with what you're saying is that it does it when Live Photos is turned off so it is obviously something that needs looking into and not that smart. Also having had Live Photos a few years ago it is something that people might very well go off of soon. I thought it was great on my HTC but got tired of it after a while after the novelty wore off. Granted it is better now as I can see them on my iPad.

Smart would have been knowing when Live Photos was on, can't be that hard surely I'm sure they will figure it out down the road at some point.

Is it just me or has 9.0.2 caused a lag in response time to Touch ID? I press it and it takes one or two seconds for the screen to light up

On 9.0.1 it was instantaneous
I'm seeing the same thing on mine. Slight lag on 9.0.2. The unlock was instant but lagging into home screen. And it only happens when the phone has been idle for a while. I hadn't seen anyone reporting this so was concerned that I might have hardware defect.

I think this is the area that should be focussed on to address the concerns rather than slowing down TouchID which would be a tragedy. It's true that the notifications are all there but I can see how it's far less ergonomic to now have to press the home button tight at the bottom of the device and then immediately go and do stuff right at the top of the device to get the notifications.

The simplest solution might be, as a settable option, where, if there were notifications displaying on the lock screen at the time the phone is unlocked, the swipe-down notification view is automatically displayed after unlock. That way the phone still goes straight to home screen as quickly as possible if there were no notifications but, if there were notifications, then they are right there on screen and dismissing them involves a simple swipe up (as always) which keeps the thumb down at the bottom of the screen where it already was rather than forcing it to go all the way to the top of the screen to swipe down. This seems an entirely workable solution to me.

These reports about TouchID being slower in 9.0.2 are concerning. I always planned to stick with 9.0.1 and jump straight to 9.1. I hope this TouchID lag is a bug that gets fixed in 9.1 and not a deliberate change.

I love the faster Touch ID. If I don't want to unlock I just use a different finger or sleep/wake. The only problem I have now is that I find myself trying to quickly unlock my iPad the same way ;)

As others have stated, use two different fingers. Use your thumb for a fast sign in to your phone, your pointer finger to check the home screen, or again as many people have said just use the sleep/wake button.

The Touch ID is so fast now that I can't use the Home button to check my lock screen items. I have to use the sleep/wake button. It also makes it harder to quickly launch the camera because it bypasses the lock screen icon. I have to train myself to start using the sleep/wake button instead.

I'm not too upset about it, just trying to adjust.

;)

I actually worked it out. There is nothing wrong with the phone, you just have to release a bit and then press again for the pop function. This way it doesn't use much force at all. I was pressing it wrong I guess

Touch ID indeed is blazing fast. But I like that! If I want to see the time or notifications that popped in, I just press the on/off switch or use a finger that has not been set up in the settings. Already got used to this change.

On my iPhone 6 it has always worked fine (although a lot of times the scanner gets a little sweaty since it's quite warm in my room, resulting in Touch ID not being able to read my fingerprint), but the one in the 6s is just amazingly fast. Love it so far! :)

The new faster touch ID is great, I got my old 6 ready for selling and using it after the 6S it felt really slow and not just the touch ID either.

You can also use a different finger not register :D

Just use the nail jesus! It's not hard to do. You cant scratch the sapphire button with your nail anyway.

I love how fast it is, I love - I love it. Okay, I got that out of the way.
When it kinda sucks? When you pull the phone out of your pocket and you look at the screen wondering if it unlocked, and if so - which apps you opened haha.
When you want to quickly take a picture - but you can't swipe up because it unlocked. Being counter productive - because you have to make sure you go to the first home screen - camera app, select the right stuff and oh - lost the moment.
Missing on screen messages isn't a big deal, the apps will have the red dot to indicate that's what is new. So I am not too nitpicky about that one.

How isn't it a big deal? The difference between having notifications from 4 apps, that you can instantly read, and having to click between all 4 of those apps to find that same info is HUGE.
