Why not put an icon in the status bar if you have any new notifications. That way if you accidentally unlock your phone you can easily tell if you missed anything.

This is not a bad idea, but I tend to find my status bar gets cluttered with notifications when using android devices and to have it on the iPhone would just add to the cluttering of the badge icons on the apps themselves.

I think their fix of the notification center in iOS 9 (individualizing notifications rather than group by app) already addressed the issue of the super fast touch ID. At least until people got used to using the lock screen/wake button, which is actually a habit I picked up using android devices for so long

I just press the home button with my index (not registered in touch id), when I just want to see what's on the lock screen.

Then maybe add something like a small dot next to the clock like the one you get on newly updated apps. Less clutter that way

The Touch ID is so fast now that I can't use the Home button to check my lock screen items. I have to use the sleep/wake button. It also makes it harder to quickly launch the camera because it bypasses the lock screen icon. I have to train myself to start using the sleep/wake button instead.

I'm not too upset about it, just trying to adjust.

That's true it's too fast couple of time it feels like I even haven't touched the ring and iphone got unlocked.

Seriously guys, use a different finger if you want to use the home button to check the phone.

I upgraded from a 5S and in my opinion Touch ID is finally living up to its potential. Damn near instant. That's a GOOD thing.

I understand that this is a GOOD thing for some, but you have to realize that it isn't for all and people may have differing opinions than you. When I'm holding things in my left hand, my phone in my right, struggling to get into my house or rushing elsewhere, it's quite inconvenient for my phone to unlock after pressing it JUST long enough to light up. Sort of defeats the purpose of a home button in my opinion. And I'm certainly not going to put everything down just to light up my home screen. I've tried pressing as quickly as possible, but to no avail.

I respect that this new technology is considered a feature for you (as well as being impressive), but I'd seriously appreciate a sensitivity setting. I find my phone unlocked in my pocket far too often from merely checking the time. I'm sure those who agree with me realize they can use another finger to press a button, but it's not exactly the answer we're looking for.

This is my only concern going from 6 to 7. Just because it can unlock instantly doesn't mean it should. I don't agree with it and think a brief press should just light up the display as it did before. Speed up the unlock animation instead so it feels just as fast. I have no idea how this got through apple. It's not user friendly at all. I guess I have to get used to pressing the lock button to check the time as I have both thumbs and index fingers registered.

Use the power button to wake up phone to check notifications/time/date without activating Touch ID, surely that's the easy solution?

Given that that's how things seem to be that does in fact seem to be the answer you are looking for (it might not be the one you really want, but it is the answer that is actually there).

I think it's hilarious how the main complaint with Touch ID is now that it's too fast. But, I'm not saying that the complaints are without merit. I can see how it could be annoying for some.

I really think they should just add a "Delay TouchID" toggle and throw it somewhere in Accessibility. That way, they're not "encouraging" people slow down their TouchID, but the option is still there if you need it.

These automatic doors open way too quickly as I approach them that I don't even get a chance to read the signs on them. ;)

Even though the signs are also posted inside the building as well, if you just take an extra second to walk in :p

For those who'd like a slight delay with Touch ID, as mentioned by some including myself earlier, swipe your finger/thumb as you press.

Not that TID2 is new, but I was reading a thread where people were praising but also complaining about how fast it is; I have similar experiences. Sometimes you just want to glace at the lock screen but that's hard to do with the latest version. Would having a 'tap to wake' option sacrifice battery life? I think this would be a great option.

No it's not, simply use the edge of your thumb to press the edge of the home button. This way you can turn on the screen without activating touch ID.

I'm not sure I am a fan of Touch ID 2. I almost wish there was a setting to control it.

On my 6 Plus, I would map 3 or 4 fingers for convenience.

With my 6S Plus, I only mapped my thumbs.

I never get used to the sight of seeing notifications I want to read vanish before my eyes.
I scramble to the notification window but never seem to find the one I saw in a flash.

I have trained myself to tap the power button, then read my notifications, then touch id.

I also noticed it going to Siri after barely touching the button, that happens at least once per day.

Unless I use the fingernail that I hardly have, touch ID works even with the edge of my thumb.

Naw, you're simply doing it wrong. Just takes training.

If you did it on the very edge of the home button with the edge of your thumb, then it will work fine.

I do it all the time if I need to look at a notification.
