Hey!

I just got my 16 Pro Max yesterday and it is a great phone. But I am having serious issues with the touch sensitivity on the display. I am using a Belkin Screen Protector installed by the staff at Apple Store and I notice that the screen is sometimes unresponsive to touch. It is most apparent while typing on the keyboard or playing games that require lots of touch actions.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue? I consider removing the screen protector to see if it helps but I am not very keen on using a $1500 phone unprotected.

Hoping that it is a software issue and not hardware.

/ Jacob

Okay. I will leave the protector on and see if Apple solves it with a patch. Hope it is not a HW issue.

Seems that I have the same issue here on my 16Pro.
I thought it's me, glad i've found this thread. 😅

Hope it will get sorted with the next update. I'm currently on the latest 18.1 beta.

I think I also have ghost touch events that trigger things that I haven't pressed on. Just discovered that DND was on and I have for sure not enabled it. Although that button is in the edge of the screen in my control center. It seems that all ghost actions that are performed are triggered by interface elements in the edge of the screen.

It could of course just be my hand causing it because of the new super thin bezels.

Never had any such issues on an iPhone before. Quite disappointing but I am sure Apple will be quick with a fix.

I have a tempered glass screen protector on my 16 Pro Max and I’m not noticing any touch issues.

I’m having the same issue it’s really irritating especially if you are doing a lot of text and emails from your phone.

You would think if the issue happen with the IPhone 15, they would get it right this time around.

I'm the author of the Reddit post linked by user kshitijraina. This is definitely an issue, seems like it already happened last year with the 15 Pro but I do not remember having this problem. I have some friends who received their 16 Pros today, I'll check later if they have the touch issue

I’m not noticing it on mine. There was an update to the phone as soon as you opened it, have you all updated it to see if that helps? Maybe even try a force reset (volume up, volume down, hold sleep/wake button until apple logo appears)? Could be some sort of glitch?

Thanks!
Will report back on my 16 Pro being delivered today, a day late...

It came with iOS 18 but it still had an update called "iOS 18" that I installed. Didn't help unfortunately.

Hmm. Try restarting the phone, just for giggles. It might help, won’t hurt though.

Tried that. Even wiped it and set it up without restoring iCloud backup. Issue still there.

Damn. Well I’m sure 18.0.1 or whatever it will be will be out within the next week. With as many people complaining about this, I’m sure it’s just a software issue.

Is there a screen protector that does not have a sharp edge ?

With the thinner bezels, I am hearing people are not happy with their screen protectors digging into their fingers everytime they swipe from the edge...
