I’m not noticing it on mine. There was an update to the phone as soon as you opened it, have you all updated it to see if that helps? Maybe even try a force reset (volume up, volume down, hold sleep/wake button until apple logo appears)? Could be some sort of glitch?
Mine updated as well and the issue is still happening

I think I also have ghost touch events that trigger things that I haven't pressed on. Just discovered that DND was on and I have for sure not enabled it. Although that button is in the edge of the screen in my control center. It seems that all ghost actions that are performed are triggered by interface elements in the edge of the screen.

It could of course just be my hand causing it because of the new super thin bezels.

Never had any such issues on an iPhone before. Quite disappointing but I am sure Apple will be quick with a fix.
Idk if it’s the thin bezel, but when using the phone doctor app to test the screen it was not picking up the touch for some of the squares on the edges.

Hey!

I just got my 16 Pro Max yesterday and it is a great phone. But I am having serious issues with the touch sensitivity on the display. I am using a Belkin Screen Protector installed by the staff at Apple Store and I notice that the screen is sometimes unresponsive to touch. It is most apparent while typing on the keyboard or playing games that require lots of touch actions.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue? I consider removing the screen protector to see if it helps but I am not very keen on using a $1500 phone unprotected.

Hoping that it is a software issue and not hardware.

I thought it was a coincidence but also noticed that at one or two times with a friends iPhone 16PM and also mine once. I was using a Google maps or YouTube I recall. Been alright since. Example has to press item on screen twice or when I did press there was a delay.

I had this issue with two different screen protector brands on my 15 Pro. The issue was worst on the edges. Never had any issue with previous phone, so I assume the screen protectors don’t work well with the curved edges that debuted with the 15 Pro. Nowadays I use my 15 Pro without screen protector and the touch sensitivity is perfect again

Yes!!! Same issue with me. Specifically with the keyboard. It’s so slow and the space bar is hit or miss (pun intended). I hope this issue gets properly reported so IOS developers can get an update out fast. I can’t deal with all the typos I’m making. I’m one of those really fast phone typers and my brain can’t handle the slow down.

I notice this a little on mine. That fact it works perfectly most if the time tells me it has to be software especially since it was fixed on the 15.

I just improved, I still had the issue on my 15 pro after all the updates.
It’s so mild here it’s not a deal breaker. If they improve it great. It’s rock solid most of the time so that indicates software to me. I have a spigen screen protector on. I turned up the sensitivity in accessibility a bit.

I just started a thread with all my crashing issues on the 16 Pro, but I've noticed this as well. EVERY time I unlock it with the code, it isn't registering my first number and I have to backspace and start over.

I’m having the same exact issues. There’s a delay and I need to tap something 2-3 times sometimes. I have the ESR Armorite for the 16 Pro Max. I don’t think it’s the screen protector causing the issues. I have the 256gb black model. Shouldn’t be the problem, but maybe certain models have the issues?

Also, has anyone tried out the screen before the day one update? Maybe the update messed it up?

Mine seems a little better after I ran the update today. My guess is there are some background processes running that cause this.

I was just going to ask about tue update. It came out of the box with ios 18 and i did the update and it’s still on ios 18.

Knock on wood, I haven’t had any issues yet. Today I got the Belkin screen protector applied at the Apple Store and it has been good all day. No issues with the edge either but I do have a case. Touch has been fully responsive with and without the protector 🤞

Yes, this is really bad. The touch screen becomes unresponsive for a few seconds and then kicks in.

Took a quick video and it’s happening across all apps not just the one in the video.

Hoping it’s not a factory defect!

I use the same type of screen protectors each year, this year I noticed when I turn off notifications specifically the badge icon in the settings. I have to tap two or three times on the IP16PM.

The issue appears to be intermittent though.

16 pro max. I just bought an ESR and Ailun protector from Amazon and am noticing it heavily affected the touch sensitivity to where the phone was annoyingly unusable. I downloaded a touch screen test app and it was not registering light taps with the screen protector on. I downloaded the same tester on my wife’s 13 pro max with cheap Amazon screen protector and it registered every light tap. As another test, I put on a spare 13 pro max protector and it had the same effect, missed taps. I took the screen protector off and the phone works as it should, so it makes me believe apple maybe didn’t calibrate the screen when using a protector. Idk just observation.

Just spent several min on cps-check.com and touchscreentest.com and find no issues. i did the software update and set my sensitivity to the middle. Spidgen screen protector installed.

I’m not sure about others, but my situation is similar to yours. The problem seems to occur because when your right hand touches the left side of the screen, a lot of skin comes into contact with the screen. I think this triggers the anti-misclick algorithm and causes it to ignore your tap.

Maybe it’s brand dependent? Installed a screen protector on a family members 16 Pro and no issues.

For fun I put on my one of my wife’s 13 pro max protectors and the results were the same. Her 13PM works flawlessly.
