I did taps so light I got no responses on my iPhone 15 pro max and 16 pro max. They seem the same honestly. Make sure you do the new software update for the 16 pro and maybe set your sensitivity to the middle which is what I did.

My screen becomes unresponsive in most places if I have any skin contact with the right edge of the screen next to the camera control. Only place where that happens.

Where is that setting?

Yeah same here. It looks like the palm rejection on these devices cause the entire screen to lock up when it tries to do palm rejection on the edge of the screen.

For other people experiencing this issue, can you check and see if your palm is touching the edge of the screen when touch inputs are not registering?

I have the same issues on 16 PM w/ ESR screen protector. Keyboard typing is awful the majority of the time. Scrolling looks super funky at times, tot he point ai thought this didn’t have pro-motion. Without the screen protector I have the same issues. Very odd.

Apple needs to bump up the sensitivity, but if the 15PM doesn’t respond to light touches then the 16 issue is probably not going to be addressed.

Yes I can confirm that. And it only happens to the area next to the camera control button

Bug in short: If one’s skin accidentally touches the area next to the new camera control button first, the whole screen becomes unresponsive until released. And this is the only area that causes the issue. Not sure if it’s the OS or a hardware defect due to the introduction of the new button. Temporal solution for now is try to avoid that area or use your left hand more.

I can lightly tap every app folder on my home screen with no response. I have 12 folders lol. Hopefully it’s a bug. If apple don’t fix this in the next week, it’s going back.

Mine has this problem (Black 16PM, 256, 18.1 beta). My partner’s doesn’t (Desert 16PM, 256, 18.1 beta).

Mine actually takes a second to start responding after you take the other finger off that area

Curiously when the issue happens I can still swipe up from the bottom to leave the app and when opened again the touch inputs work even when my finger remains on the right edge. However lifting and placing my finger back on that spot triggers the bug again. This is weird.

I just replicated the issue in my phone too. Of course I had to purposely do it. With a case on, I can’t imagine this ever being a problem as long as it’s not a super thin case.

Can you or someone give me step by step instructions on how to replicate this ?
tap and hold the area right next to the camera button with your right thumb, and use your left hand to swipe. If you find that you can’t swipe at all except for the home bar, yours has the same issue

Hey!

I just got my 16 Pro Max yesterday and it is a great phone. But I am having serious issues with the touch sensitivity on the display. I am using a Belkin Screen Protector installed by the staff at Apple Store and I notice that the screen is sometimes unresponsive to touch. It is most apparent while typing on the keyboard or playing games that require lots of touch actions.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue? I consider removing the screen protector to see if it helps but I am not very keen on using a $1500 phone unprotected.

Hoping that it is a software issue and not hardware.

It's almost for sure the screen protector. I've not used one since the iPhone 3GS and never once had a problem.

Tried it on both my 16 Pro and wife's 16PM, can't replicate it.
Do you have a case on?

I posted a video but basically hold phone in your right palm without a case so that the camera control goes into the meat of your palm under your thumb. Then try to reach across the screen with your thumb and try to tap the upper-left corner. The screen becomes unresponsive for a few seconds.

Yeah it didn’t respond to scrolling up and down when viewing this forum via safari. But then again if I hold any side of the screen and try and swipe up and down it freezes until I let go. Maybe I’m not doing it right lol
