Damn...sorry about that...

I'd definitely call Apple. They'll likely hook you up with something...

doubtful. Apple has the OP's money. Maybe, but the shipping firm dropped it to the wrong person.

Fed-Ex is the OP's best option.

Congratulations, very happy that everything ended up working out. Enjoy your iPad, and thanks for the update :D

To clarify this, Apple most certainly cares because if you don't receive the iPad, they have to give back your money.

I would say Apple would care MUCH more than Fedex.

Same story happened to me. But I never received my Nokia smart phone from FedEx. I ordered it on Amazon.com. FedEx showed that it was delivered without a signature. I was so angry and upset. I called Amazon CS and they gave my money back. Since then, I don't believe FedEx. Never use FedEx if you have other choices.

Either way, he got the iPad, no need to go searching for a handout. It somewhat bugs me that so many people are calling Apple trying to get free Smart Covers because their iPad's sat on the island for a few days. Most of them ended up being delivered on time, and some were even early. The late ones seemed to be coming in maybe 1 day late, and some of those were a day late from fedex's expected delivery, not Apple's which were usually later than Fedex. Everyone is out there searching to get something for nothing, it makes the companies less likely to give you something when you might actually deserve to be compensated.

Update Again.

I got the iPad!

They didn't call, but I showed up, the guy went to the back to speak with a supervisor, and he came out with my iPad!

Nothing looks like it was open, and I'll check everything out when I get home.

Did they ever tell you exactly what happened though? Why the "mixup"?

Looking at the above threads,

In no way do I believe this was Apple's fault. I would have not expected Apple to "eat the cost", or send a free cover, or anything.

FedEx made a mistake, it should have been their responsibility.

I would have contacted Apple if I hadn't received it by now, as they have more pull with FedEx than I would, Also, If Apple had insurance on the package, the sender is the one who makes the claim, hence why they would send another if proven it had gotten lost.

Even though I had a little over 24 hours that I was worried, I got what was was mine, and I'm happy. FedEx admitted the mistake, found the package and got it in the proper hands. I feel no reason to get Apple involved now.

I'm actucally happy with FedEx service of finding it as quick as they did, as I figured it would go on the backburner, and be forgotten about.

Actually it is prefectly legitimate to get Apple involved, as they are the shipper and actually under the way FedEx and UPS deal with things, only the shipper is supposed to be able to initiate a trace. You are lucky they found it locally as if they did not, you would have been SOL and Apple would have had to deal with them.

At any rate, good thing it turned out!

This thread was like suspense novel. It should be published. Id read it over and over.

You might want to contact Apple anyway and let them know what happened. It would be good for them to know what sort of mistakes FedEx makes. Apple may also do something nice for you as a gesture since you had to go an extra mile to get your iPad.
