I'm still waiting to see if any solutions are ever going to be offered with capacities over 1TB, like a 1.5TB or 2TB Flash drive...

So far, Apple's 1TB offerings, the Samsung 840EVO 1TB, and the OCZ Octane are all I've seen...

Apart from the larger capacity PCIe solutions for PCs and towers that go up to 2TB...I have seen those.

Basically, I'm looking for laptop SSDs or standard desktop SSDs with capacities over 1TB

Once these have been out for a couple of months and no serious issues pop up, I'm pretty sure I'm getting an upgrade. Even though my 2011 MBA can only take up to 480GB, that's still a helluva nice deal.

Also, nice job on the video. They made it look extremely user friendly to complete the transplant. Plus the enclosure... I somehow feel cheated. They left me nothing to complain about.

That's the thing, do you want to be on the bleeding edge? There's no feedback on Amazon, I'd like to see how these perform over the course of time. Yet with that said, I'm very encouraged that there's a much more economical solution to upgrading my rMBP. OWC's solution was just too expensive.

I’ve seen some insanely great deals on used 11/12 MBAs, but with less than desirable storage capacities ... this would resolve the issue and still be a good bit better than new pricing. :)

What-??

Would this possibly work on my 17" MacBook Pro, with a regular optical 500 GB hard drive? Why does it say it's only compatible with a retina MacBook Pro?

:( :( :( :(

Hi TrentS,
We have the JetDrive 420 series for non-retina MacBook Pros!

Question.. What is the reasoning/rationale as to why the late 2010/mid-2011 Macbook Airs are limited to no more than 500GB? What is the limiting factor?

BL.

Any info on when the 960 gb version for the Retina MacBook Pro will be in stock at Amazon? Right now it says out of stock.

That MacBook Pro has a "standard" hard drive, you don't need the special modules of the newer MacBook models. If you want to upgrade you can buy a new "normal" 2.5" hard drive (either mechanical or SSD) and the required screwdriver if you don't have it already.

Hi bradl,
We want to determine if there is sufficient demand for the 960GB JetDrive 520 before we consider a 960GB JetDrive 500.

Another clarification on why the 11" 2010 MacBook Air only supports up to 240GB is due to the fact that the RAM for this particular model is located directly underneath the SSD, limiting us to only single sided PCBs. 13" 2010 and 2011 and 11" 2011 models don't have this problem since the RAM is located elsewhere on the motherboard.

Doesn't work on latest generations, but I guess it is good for people that have ran out of space over time, rather than people that want a cheaper, 3rd party upgrade for their new machine like we all did a few years ago

I'll be in for as large as possible in my 2011 MBA as soon as the rMBA comes out to give the old box some new life. I want to have a new machine up and running before I tear into my daily driver.
