The "business case" - a prototype

About two months ago I ordered a red case for myself but contacted them about making me a one-off case for a client of mine that was going to go to ipad exclusively for his sales staff. The prerequisites were it had to have a document pocket and a stylus holder and at that time, something diff than the elastic strap. I was informed prototypes were more money than normal, and the case would take a long time as it would have to be done in their off hours. No problem. So here it is:

Navy blue, grey liner, doc pocket, kinetic latch and black trim in frame. Also the frame was made a slight bit deeper to super hold that ipad as the sales staff are a pretty rough crowd on equipment. The client liked it, and will probably proceed when things calm down. As far as quality, this is first rate with no corner problems, splinters or what ever. Excellent finish on the frame and gluing.

I would make two changes - the latch should be the same material as the case and cover the metal buckle for a smoother look, and the pocket could just be "less" - cut more on a diagonal as in meeting planners.

This case appears to be very close to what I am looking for. The only change I'd make is to add two or three small slots on top of the document slit to hold business cards. But this looks great.

Perfect! In for one. Thanks for helping get a case like this designed and brought to manufacturing glen. Any word on when these will be available for order?

Dunno... ask Amanda- nice lady
Orders@treegloo.com

Fyi- I put out emails (with positive read receipts) to the other casemakers back then when I ordered their cases, no answers...shocking....

I might add that they told me in 50% of the time - AGAIN NOT ALL - cases that were retuned for "popping out" were simply not pushed down enuf..... So when you get any of these M-skin type cases, push them FIRMLY down as far as they can go...

@glen e: WOW!
That is one awesome looking case. Very professional. I especially like the stylus holder. I know Treegloo said that they're coming out with a stylus holder case soon, but I haven't seen one. Now I can't wait for the stylus holder option to become available.
I still haven't received any information on the status of my order, but seems like it's definitely worth the wait.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay to have that case specially made for you?

Treegloo *finally* shipped my case today and I think it actually did leave the building (tracking number shows its on it's way). On Thursday, I sent an email telling them that if I didn't "have" it by Tuesday (not shipped, but "have" it in hand), that I would dispute my paypal payment and ask them to kindly cancel my case.

I really didn't want it to come to that, I ordered April 11th and have been patiently waiting and am very excited about my case. They must have taken my email seriously - they shipped it tonight and sent it FedEx next day air at no extra charge, so I really should have "in hand" by tomorrow.

They did give me about 3 or so excuses besides "we're a bit behind" but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. This was the 3rd promised ship date (the other 2 came and went), so if this one didn't did the same, I was going to throw in the towel.

I got galactic gray cover, custom liner, chocolate frame, black suede accent, magnetic cover. My total cost was more than double the basic case so I don't feel too bad about being so demanding with the delivery. Will hopefully post pics tomorrow assuming it shows up on my doorstep as stated.

I ordered mine in March and still have not received it. At first they answered my emails within a couple of hours, now I can't even get one answered. I posted on Facebook and sent an email on Sunday and still no response. I have been promised my case for two straight weeks, now no response at all. Is this happening to anyone else, any ideas? I don't mind waiting, just would like a reply.

Was happening with me as well. I just got an email back late last night that said we'll be shipping your case tomorrow, so I assume they mean today. Until I get a ship notification with a tracking number I don't believe it. They have missed several promised ship dates already. They told me last week that my case was finished and they are just now shipping it a week later?

Just received an email back from Treegloo, they said they would ship out the case today. Hopefully will get it soon.

I ordered on April 4th and I finally received my case last Friday. I was promised shipping on 3 separate occasions before it was actually shipped. I did change my order to the magnetic closure when they were announced after I had placed my original order, so expected a small delay. I ordered the Galactic grey with blue liner, ebony frame with black suede accents and I still wanted the elastic strap, even though I got the magnetic closure. I am really impressed with the quality of the case. I am extremely happy and would order from them again.

Winston how do you like the magnetic closure? If you don't use the elastic strap does it still hold OK? I got the magnetic without elastic so hoping it will keep the case closed unless I purposely open it.

So I finally received my case and it looks great. Holding it with one hand is much more comfortable and there is no way my iPad is going to fall out. Also, the case looks to provide great protection with it's rigid covers but I'm not going to drop it just to test. The leather feels great to and I hope it gets worn in as I use it. I got the Paris map inside and I thought it was going to look too bright or too fresh but it has a perfect worn in or weathered look to it.
Now to my small gripes. The magnet that locks the screen doesn't seem to also hit the iPad and therefore not locking the screen. The iPad isn't flush with the wood so I don't know what to really do right now other than locking the screen manually. Also, because the iPad is slightly curved, it's a little hard to reach the volume rocker and side switch. Other than those things it's a fantastic case. Would I wait over a month for it, probably not. If I already had a case then I would wait. Pictures can be provided if requested.

Good luck to all on receiving your cases earlier than expected.

Yes the magnetic closure is strong enough without the strap. I opted for both since the magnetic option was new and there weren't any reviews out yet. The case feels good and I haven't had any issues as the op. Go for it. I do wish I had gone for brighter colors the gray and blue are so conservative. Maybe I'll order another. Once I get my Muzetto I'm done with accessories. Lol

Finally got my case today - liking it very much. Only issue I'm trying to figure out is why the auto sleep backlight on/off isn't functioning as intended. I might be placing the iPad too far into the case, still need to experiment.

Here's some pics...

Hey folks,

Anybody here received an octavo? I've seen it in book view, but is it a reliable stand?

I have the Octavio. It holds up ok. The Portenzo is the best made case. I have both. Dodocase is well made also. I am finding I use the Maroo case the most.

Thanks! How does it hold up as a case? Is the angle too steep?

The case is well made. Customer service is good. When using it for typing mode there is not much of an angle. Using it to watch say a video it us ok as long as the surface you have it on is not slick. I am really finding this type if case works ok. But now I an using the switcheasy and Maroo more and more.

Got my tracking number yesterday but there is still no activity for the tracking number. Case still shows estimated delivery for tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath. If I dont receive, I'll be canceling my order and filing a dispute with paypal. Still no word on my Kindle case. This whole deal has been the worst experience I've ever had ordering anything online.

I can honestly say that I no longer care about Treegloo's case. I wasn't interested in this style until I saw Treegloo, but it's been a month since I ordered with no communication in the last 2 weeks. I have taken the necessary steps to get my money back.

Good luck to everyone on getting your cases.

Have you bothered to email them at all?

This isn't a mass production corporation. This isn't Amazon, or Apple, or anyone else that has thousands of workers. This is a small force of a half dozen people (or less) who is overwhelmed by the sheer volume of business they accumulated extremely rapidly. I have the feeling you knew there was going to be a wait, but you still ordered.

If you are going to throw a hissyfit over no communication, then simply email them. It's an easy process to just ask a polite and inquiring question.

The first part of your reply was good. The second part was totally uncalled for. I was told on three different weeks that my case would ship but never did. I know they are a small company. Give the guy a break.

Yes I have emailed them, and all of my emails in the last 2 weeks have gone unanswered. One a week before that was unanswered until I posted on Facebook.

I ordered on April 11, before delays started getting bad. The last email I got from them was April 28. There was great communication before that, so I had high expectations.

Sorry for the hissyfit again...
