I can do all of those things with a Plus in my pocket. It's obviously a large phone but I feel that perhaps some people are exaggerating a bit.

So can 9-month pregnant women (bent, kneel, squat). The question is, how comfortable they are doing it, and how they look carrying a big with them all the time.

I wouldn't compare having a big phone in my pocket with being 9 months pregnant. Again, exaggeration. You make it sound like carrying it around is this huge imposition -- and it's not.

The 6s, which is also a great iPhone, is a little easier for me to carry--but not much more so. The trade off to get a bigger/higher resolution screen and OIS is worth it for me.

The 6+/6S+ is obviously not going to be as pocketable as the i6/6S, or align itself with one-handed use quite so easily. The bigger phone is for people who spend a lot more time using their device and appreciate the larger screen & extended battery life that comes with having a larger phone.

It baffles me that people buy the larger phone due to the battery life & OIS and not necessarily the screen size. You can't expect to have the battery life with no trade-offs. If you don't want the bigger screen and perhaps don't use your phone as a computer replacement device for the most part, then you don't need a phablet.

I'm upgrading from iPhone 6 to 6S+.

Main reason for this is that my smartphone usage has changed from using it as advanced cellphone to using it more like pocket computer. I need bigger screen for content and better battery life to get through day. Oh... And I need that 64Gb of storage, living with my current 16Gb iPhone is constant management to not run out of space.

Everyone has different wants and need. That's why there's two different sizes.

There are 2 reasons why 2 sizes exists: Apple wants to maximize sales & its failure to create a sized iphone 6 with a 5 inch screen.

If such sized iPhone 6 with a 5 inch screen (less border) should exist it would be the iPhone for everyone.

Yes and no. There will always be complaints. There are people that think the current 6S is too big, and some think the 6S+ is still not big enough.

The Plus is a large phone and there is no getting away from that. No amount of 'it fits in my pocket' or 'my wife is two foot tall and she can handle it one handed' is going to change the fact. I've tried a friends device and it was enough to convince me the size is a hinderance more than a help. Using it as an iPad it's lovely but I need to be able to use a phone one handed on occasion and when I am squatting down or even sitting at my desk, I don't want to be taking it out of my pocket all the time. It was uncomfortable in my pocket even if it just about squeezed in. That is too much of a compromise and is why I will only ever realistically consider the smaller offering.

When I bought the iPhone 6 I felt the trade offs to the Plus were rather insignificant. Bigger battery - I charge it every night and it's never been an issue. OIS - never had poor results filming or taking photographs. Better screen - really not bothered. You just need to weigh up what you prefer and the 6 won for me. :)

" Not sure how some of these folks are managing " ? Why not a belt loop case ? Problem solved.
They are probably more an American thing to be honest. I haven't seen mobile phones clipped to belts in the UK or when travelling around Europe in many years. I remember back in around 2000/01 when you would see Nokias on belt clips but those days are long gone. Different cultures have different fashion trends I suppose. The 6S Plus is a big phone to have on your belt anyway isn't it?

My 6s is coming this week. My company ordered it for me. I currently have the 6+ and really like it but I am anxious to go back to a more pocketable phone as my blood sugar sensor talks directly to my iPhone now which means I'm never without it when out and about. I'm a little concerned about battery life as the 6+ battery has been great, but we shall see.

What?

Your opinion. I don't want a device with a screen smaller than 5.5" and won't purchase one at any point in the future.

Coming from a 5S.. I initially thought the 6S+ was too big.. But, I read the posts here and figured I'd give it a shot.

I started using it and had mixed feelings.. loved the large screen, didn't love the heft associated with it.

I decided to swap out my 64GB 6S+ for a 128GB 6S+ and had to send my original phone back to Apple.

Instead of waiting the 2-3 weeks for my 128GB 6S+, I figured I'd give the 6S a try (since they seem readily available).. So.. I borrowed the wife's 6S for the afternoon.. Nope.

The 6s+ is where it's at for me.

I am now back to my old 5S for the interim.. The screen size feels SO small.. I use it as little as possible for anything other than phone calls or short emails.

Funny how that works.

Finally checked out the new s models in person. Way too heavy and thick. Definitely noticeable. No go for me. 5s it is or 6 128gb but they're no longer in stock at AS.

FYI - I decided to stick with my 6s+.

I was having real issues with the bigger size, coming from the 5s, and was on the fence of returning it for an entire week. I really just wanted the camera OIS that they include in the Plus models.

But I'm adapting, and really enjoying the extra battery life that the Plus affords.

If the 7s (which would be my expected new 2 yearly phone) has OIS in both sized models, then I'll go back to the smaller of the two. In a heartbeat. I think. lol

I'm in Plus-land for 2 years now, and will probably be fine.

There's obviously a considerable demand for bigger phones, that's why Apple broke with tradition and introduced the Plus iPhones.

If you don't like the Plus iPhones, jog on and don't look back. You weren't the intended target customers anyway.

But yes, a 5.0" to 5.2" iPhone is just about optimal.

Agree with this. My Z3 at 5.2" was just right in terms of screen size while still being pocketable and comfortable to handle. The z3 compact at 4.7" felt a bit small for me.

So now I've moved to iPhone, both sizes are a compromise. The 6s is a bit smaller than I'm already used to, but the 6s plus feels too big (especially with a case on)

I'm quite surprised that Apple decided to have quite such a large difference in size between the two

I had 6s plus for 4 day returned for 6s now I want 6s plus back can't find any local.

Stock is still a little scarce in the UK. I have until the 27th to decide so I'm contemplating buying a 6s now and swapping between the two and then returning one. Otherwise I'm worried that I'll switch to the 6s - regret it - and then not be able to get another 6+ quickly

I had a 128gb 6+ to begin with last year and ended up trading it for a 64gb 6. This year I got a 64gb 6s because that's all that was available, but returned it this afternoon because I just like big phones. I currently have a Nexus 6 also, and couldn't get used to the small screen and significantly worse battery life than the 6+.

I'll wait until I can find a 64 or 128gb space grey 6s+. Far better battery, OiS and larger screen make the size differential worth it. Plus, I type more accurately with the bigger phone.

How did the 6s battery life compare to the nexus 6?

So I bought a 6s Plus last week, but I just can't get used to the size. The phone is simply too big and clumsy in the hand.
>> I have used the iPad Mini as a phone and find it comfortable to use and the screen size great for my needs. The 6s Plus would be almost too small for me. Not sure why you are complaining, but perhaps your hand size is very small.

IMO, the 6s would be the perfect phone if it had a slightly bigger battery.
>> Now you are talking about a real problem. My iPhone 6 actually weighs over one pound because I have to constantly carry a heavy battery pack with me. Battery time is only three hours. So I would like to ask Apple to double the size of the battery or cut power usage by one half.

BTW - I'm no tech geek so take it easy on me.
>> Sorry, no mercy for small-handed wimps, even if you ask nicely.

Works great for me. I do have fairly large hands, but not freakishly so. I suppose it would be to big for people with small hands. I know the mrs think it's a tad bit too big.

Yeah, I commented on that. It's an extra step. A hassle. Sometimes I forget to do it (or it didn't work well) which put my hand in awkward positions. Dare I say, sometimes the plus caused pain in my hand/fingers. It's natural for me to reach out and touch anything I need on the screen with my thumb without thinking (while simultaneously having a good grip on my phone). Not to create controversy, but I think long term huge phones will be seen as a fad.
If you're a one-handed user, why in the world did you ever buy the + in the first place? Anyone that buys something this expensive without first test driving it deserves what they get. There's always Gazelle you know!

So I bought a 6s Plus last week, but I just can't get used to the size. The phone is simply too big and clumsy in the hand - trying to whip it out quickly and use with one hand requires constant balancing and hand readjustments to reach the entire screen. I end up balancing the phone on my fingers which is a sure fire recipe for drops. When I need to reach the upper 25% of the screen I kinda slide/bounce the phone down in my hand...then slide/bounce it up when I'm done. The reach-ability thing feels like an extra step I'd rather not do - and it just doesn't feel natural on a touchscreen where my thumb wants to reach out and touch what I want without thinking. It's almost impossible to hold the phone up and use it one handed while laying down (like in the recliner while I'm watching TV). Using one hand to check something quickly in the car or messing with maps is just annoying!

Another issue I have is that pulling out the plus is almost a public event rather than a personal matter. The phone is so big that I feel like anyone near me can see what I'm doing. With the 6s you can sorta cuff it in your hand with a secure grip like the easy-to-one-hand 4 or 4s - it's really not that much bigger feeling to me (0.9" taller/0.33" wider/.09" slimmer). The 4.7" has that natural extension of the hand feeling which I feel is essential for a phone. It doesn't feel like it could get away from me. I can't see the 6s being hard to one hand for anyone with at least an average size woman hand.

And what about cases? I'm one of those that like to keep my expensive phone in pristine condition - how do you folks use a 6 plus with a case that adds say 1/4"+ to the width? I only used the plus without a case, but I can't imagine how bulky it must feel with a case that offers decent protection.

I can understand the plus being a tablet substitute for some, but I just don't see it happening for me. I don't have a tablet, but instead of using the plus like one, I'd rather get on my laptop. Phone on the go/killing time and laptop for when I want to get stuff done (like typing up this post). I NEVER used landscape on the plus or any other phone - granted I'm not a gamer.

The 6s takes good enough pictures for me and I'm guessing 90% would never see a difference. I can't see a difference based on what I've seen.

The screens look the same to me.

IMO, the 6s would be the perfect phone if it had a slightly bigger battery. Relative to the Plus, in test I've seen online, the 6s and 6s plus are separated by only an hour or less. That's not really game changing...especially if you always carry a charger in your car.

It was fun 6s+, but tomorrow I'm switching you out for the 6s.

BTW - I'm no tech geek so take it easy on me.
