I'm still wondering why Monterey, and a later release of Big Sur, has the default desktop background at the login screen instead of what I normally have as my desktop background. My chosen background was always the login background as well.

I would love to see iOS and MacOS have a curated wallpaper selection similar to Google Pixel devices. That would be pretty slick.

Does anyone know a way to change the login background image from the default abstract to a picture of your choice?

I do hope Apple adds more wallpapers for Monterey at some point. I know you can easily find good ones online, but I've always loved Apple's wallpaper additions. It just feels like an incomplete release without them!

Almost certainly Apple would not have used that picture BECAUSE it is the Lone Cypress and the Pebble Beach Company is well known for being very litigious around images of it.

Is it just me or is that poor "tree" thing strapped down with steel wires? Sorry, can't unsee, not suitable as a desktop

Quoting myself, but I fixed it. The easiest thing to do is just drag the dynamic file into /Library/Desktop Pictures. Any .heic files in there are added to the dynamic desktop panel in System Preferences.
How are you able to drag photos here? My comp is telling me that dragging into that folder is not allowed. Shows a white ?.

Edit: My issue was I was in System/Library/Desktop Pictures, went to ~/Library/Desktop Pictures (which I swear wasn't there when I first looked), and it all worked fine.
